Video Game News and Miscellany

This is a stocking stuffer kind of gift that fits right in with those same kinds of products like the Atari plug and plays and stuff like that. Something that nails nostalgia for older people.

It's not for dirty pirates like you.

And it's overall pretty cool. I hope they do a Super NES one too.
I'd like that, but SNES has this dream line-up that we'll never see put together outside of PC romming it up.

I'm genuinely surprised SquareSoft hasn't done this with their SNES era stuff. I'd pay $60 bucks for a box that plays...

- Final Fantasy 4-6 + Mystic Quest
- Secret of Mana 1+2
- Secret of Evermore
- Dragon Quest 5-6
- Chrono Trigger
- Front Mission
- Live A Live
- Treasure of the Rudras
- Bahamut Lagoon
- Romancing SaGa 2+3

I have a feeling if they do this to SNES, my personal problem is going to be already having the good ones on Wii U or 3DS Virtual Console. But I'd still be interested in seeing what they put out.

These kinds of items really aren't meant for you, or me, or most of the people on this forum. It's not an item meant for game enthusiasts, it's meant for people with a passing interest in the games that want to see what all the hubbub is about. It's a toy.

So, do you want your own 33-1/3 vinyl copy of the Killer Instinct soundtrack? Well, you're in luck!

Available with Fulgore, Spinal, or Sabrewulf covers, these contain all the tracks from the video game. They've even built it so the runout track shouts CCCOMBO BREAKER repeatedly until you lift the needle.
But if you want the Fulgore edition, you'd better move fast. That one is preorder only, and it will be available for preorder this weekend only to commemorate the EVO tournament.

Yeah, I considered putting this in the vinyl thread, but felt this was probably a better place for it.

I'll be hunting Pocket Monsters, does that count? :p
If by hunting, you mean befriending. Whereas by hunting, we mean killing and wearing.

I'm guessing a lot of people are just getting it this afternoon, because the download is stupid slow. 40 minutes and it's only at 12 percent.

Original Killer Instinct, or that new game? Because one of these has an awesome soundtrack, and the other... is a game.

I think its going to be my first ever Monster Hunter purchase.

I've been thinking about getting it, but the other game's demos have usually turned me off, but might be more fun co-op.
There's a demo for this one too, and the demo has co-op. But to be honest, none of the demos have been all that new player friendly. In the real game, the time limits are double what they give in the demo. I don't know why the demos chop it down to 25 or even 15; for new players, that's just sometimes not enough.

But the game itself is better about leading one into how to get your stuff together, and both 4U and Generations offer free downloadable starter kits to give new players some helpful items to begin with while they learn to make their own.

I think its going to be my first ever Monster Hunter purchase.
They're making the games more and more accessible each time, so at any point of interest, whatever is the newest game is the best one to go for.

So it looks like Star Wars The Old Republic has another expansion coming out later this fall, called Knights of The Eternal Throne. It'll be interesting to see what changes it brings to the game.

Been thinking about paying for a month of tOR to get caught up on the story. Dunno if I'd do the Light/Dark thing if it's still going, though, seems like a lot of extra work for a companion I might not even use.

The prizes are pretty good and it's not particularly difficult. And it's supposed to go until the fall, so that's another 2 months.

Butts can be awesome!
Yeah but this isn't the awesome kind of butt, this is that kind where you have to sit in the same seat after it leaves and the seat's all warm and you're like 99% sure the seat is damp but you've already sat down on it and you just want your day to be over.

NOOOOOOO!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance finally gets a digital PC release, and the MUA2 finally gets a PC release at all... but it's a complete shit-show. Terrible PC port. No DLC included for the first game (with no way to get it). Non-sensical K&M support, bugged controller support. Sound issues.

What a colossal disappointment.
