[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

Speaking of which, Netflix is where I'll see Ghostbusters 2016. The consensus seems to be good not great, and for a movie I'm not enthusiastic about and that my wife flat-out doesn't want to see, I don't feel like making the effort.
I'm exactly the same way. It appears to better than I had feared, but not good enough to see in the theater. Netflix seems like the perfect compromise for me.

One reviewer I trust has given the new Ghostbusters movie a very positive review:

Excerpts:
I saw it today, and I actually totally agree with that reviewer. If you swap the old and the new movies, at least.

New Ghostbusters wasn't -bad-, it was just... eh. It's another comedy in that same style of improv comedy where you have a cast of funny people ad-libbing funny lines, with a plot that's really only there to give them a reason to ad-lib more lines. That reviewer mentions SNL sketches, and in thinking of that, that actually is exactly how Ghostbusters 2016 feels... a long SNL sketch.

It's not terrible. It's not that great either. If a friend hadn't paid for my ticket, I would have happily waited to watch it on tv or Netflix. I feel like they could have called this Ghostbusters Movie and no one would have been able to tell the difference.

I have a feeling if it hadn't been for the warring extremes online, this would've come and gone and been forgotten like numerous other remakes/reboots. That could still happen depending on whether or not it does well.

Sony wants to turn this into an expanded universe project because they're desperate to have one. With Ghostbusters it could kinda work though; different teams in different locations. Imagine a Ghostbusters team in a Ringu/Ju-On type of scenario.

Yeah, Hasbro has had multiple meetings about squishing Transformers and the rest into a big EU, too. Everyone wants a piece of the Marvel pie.
Except Hasbro has arguably been doing it for years, with various Transformers/G.I. Joe books. A movie for that would be simple to make as well and they know it's a winning combination already. I'm genuinely surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Are they setting up a Kong vs. Godzilla, you think?
I recall hearing that they intend to do just that sometime in the future.
Not just think--it's been announced! :D We'll get Kong: Skull Island in 2017, then Godzilla 2 in 2018, and Godzilla vs Kong (new title) in 2020.

What's funny to me is that when Toho sets on doing Godzilla movies, they bang 'em out one a year. So it's possible that by the time Godzilla vs Kong is out, we'll have five new Japanese Godzilla movies, if Shin Godzilla (also new title!) meets expectations in Japan. Doesn't matter who sees it here; they don't give a damn and it'll only be out for like two days in few theaters.

And then in phase three we'll get "Jet Jaguar: Civil War."
We already have Pacific Rim.

New trailer for Shin Godzilla (I really wish they were releasing it as Godzilla Resurgence in America like they are everywhere else in the world; we're not special, we didn't need to keep half the Japanese version's title):

So happy to see this much suit work and animatronics. 5 days until Japan's release, so probably 6 days until I watch it with English subtitles through ... means ... and then I look forward to seeing it in theaters whenever Funimation gets around to that.
