What are you playing?

Been playing up a storm. My Jedi Knight no longer looks like a Gypsy Figure Skater.

Unfortunately, he now looks like a Jedi Altar Boy.

Gunn'hildr leveled up enough to use some custom armor that had been made for her, and it looks pretty decent.

Verdugo Estoque. I love how evil he looks. Blade Savant armor from the Cartel Market.

My new Jedi Consular. Not sure if I'll go Light or Dark with her.

Azura is Dark II now, and it's starting to show.

Anyway, here's my capital ship that brought us to Omicron. It's a lot roomier than my previous one, and has more base-like facilities and turrets (3 30mm cannons and 4 rocket turrets). Also I like that it has a ground-level hangar for hover vehicles.

This is the base we invaded and made our own.

The vandalization of my personal shuttle continues, now the word "PRINCESS" adorns both sides of the upper hull. -_-

We've refitted and repaired the abandoned factory. The inside now hums with activity. It's to the point that we don't even need the facilities on the SkyBitch anymore.

Mamma Mia, that's a lotta food growing. We converted one of the subterranean factory rooms into hydroponics. We don't go hungry.

With the necessities taken care of, I decided to renovate the top floor into something slightly more live-able. Nice couch. "THANKS I MADE IT MYSELF"

Through the doors in the back are the bedroom and bathroom.

The picturesque view out the windows is only somewhat spoiled by the fact that the same prankster who is vandalizing my personal shuttle decided to paint "RICO SUAVE" above and below the window as you look out -_-;

Yay! Me and DreamGoddess will have to try playing with you guys sometime.
Sure!...I tried jumping in without going through all the tutorials. It didnt work. When I finish studying, Im going to have to do them all, because I dont know wtf is going on.

I haven't done them so I can't vouch for their individual helpfulness, but if this is your first Monster Hunter game than any guidance is better than not.

For the weapon tutorials, they really just tell you the buttons and let you goof around with your weapon. Hopefully the basics tutorials give more instruction.

Shit, I had to explain to him where the tutorials were even. [emoji14]

Oh shit, is he Terriking? Because I think my wife will explode if she has to deal with that.

Terrik, don't use a Great Sword, you'll hit everyone.

And don't use Insect Glaive, you'll just hop around and interrupt other people's mounts.

In fact, just use the Horn and play pretty music, okay? :p

No that's not a problem right now, lol.

I fired up Fallout 4 again since I'm no longer on my laptop and can now actually play again. And since I last played apparently all mods were pulled from the Steam Workshop and hosted on Bethesda's site. So I had to completely delete the game and reload it. Which took forever. But once that was done, I went to get some mods and of course they didn't have everything I wanted. So I got the ones I think I want and they are buggy as shit and I don't know which ones they are. I have TWO Sanctuarys, one I'm upgrading and the other with 0 people, 0 food, 0 water, 0 everything. And the recruitment towers? No longer attract people. Well shit. The worst part is, I'm probably going to have to remove all the addons and start a new game and then add them back one at a time to see which one breaks things.

And I tried using Nexus, but for some reason nothing I loaded had any effect on the game.

I may fire up Witcher 3 tonight and start a new game. I haven't tried Skyrim yet to see if they broke that, too.

Nexus mods work, but you gotta go into the Bethesda Mods area in-game and make sure they are set to load and in the correct load order. It's a pain, really.

And yes, I'm assuming Skyrim HD will have the same fucking stupid as broken mod system too.

Seriously? As if Fallout 4 could be more of a disappointment.

Today my friends and I eradicated the remaining alien presence on Omicron. Feeling we had suitably conquered, we piled back into the SkyBitch and I ferried them back to Akua to start work on their own capital vessels, and I struck out alone for Ningues, a nearby PVP-enabled snow planet.

Finding a place to land that was both away from alien bases and near a hot springs (the only sources of liquid water) was challenging, but I managed.

This valley I landed in is home to a large herd of these "Lizard Mules," which look like they could be good eating, if I wasn't worried that attacking one would bring the whole herd down on me.

My blueprint factory had been working on building a prefab base for me, but when I plopped it down next to my ship, the SkyBitch's turrets went berzerk and opened fire on the base. By the time I got them shut off, there was a hole in one end and out the other large enough to fly my shuttle through.

Doh! Seems like there's a bug where if you have a ship set to your faction's flag, and then plant a base (which defaults to your private flag), the two consider each other to be hostile factions. ALPHA GAME. Took me the rest of the night to patch the holes and get the base back into commission.

Genocide. The word for that is GENOCIDE.

Terrik and I played some Monster Hunter again last night once he did the tutorials, we took down a few Great Maccaos, mostly brute forcing it because we didn't have the right mats for traps and one popped up on a gathering mission when we really weren't prepared. I've been going sword/shield, and Terrik has a bowgun, which is more or less working out, though Terrik is crying about having to aim with the right stick nub. ;)

IT IS NOT INTUITIVE, BUT I LIKE BIG GUNS.

Pretty sure you can aim with the D-pad. That's what I use for the Bow and it frees up your right hand for the necessary buttons.[DOUBLEPOST=1468880407,1468880212][/DOUBLEPOST]

You're no really expected to use traps and complex stuff for the first monster of the game, so brute forcing it was really the way to go. Things you can use in the future though when monsters start getting tough and you need to outsmart them:

- Traps are good. Traps with bait are better.
- Bait alone can be good, like drugged meat that puts a monster to sleep. Why is this good? When a monster is asleep, the first hit it takes does triple damage. Since Terrik is ranged, you can place a big bomb next to its head and he can blow it up without you beside it, causing lots of damage.

Question for Zero and other Dark Souls enthusiasts, if I'm picking one of the games up on PC, which is best to dive in with? My brother says 3 is a bit more accessible, but he hasn't quite finished it so can't be 100% sure. I figure it's between 2 and 3, at least.

The first game is the best, but you'll need to do apply some mods and fixes to make it work well. You'll also need a controller to get full enjoyment out of it.

Dark Souls 2 is probably the weakest in the series and I'd avoid it until later.

Dark Souls 3 IS the most accessible. I would probably start there.

Ice Fortress Gasbandia is repaired. I've started harvesting fuel from nearby areas, but it's dangerous with the ramped up drone activity, and I'm always wary because this is also a PVP-enabled planet.

I also discovered that O2 and Water generators work on snow, so I didn't necessarily need to build at the hot springs, but oh well. Makes for a slightly shorter walk, I suppose.[DOUBLEPOST=1468892190,1468892124][/DOUBLEPOST]Incidentally, GB's Battle Wagon is on the steam workshop now.

Dark Souls 3 has the smoothest systems of the games in that everything has been refined by that point. That said, your tutorial boss for 3 is a bit harder than for 1, and overall 3 expects more speed and aggression out of you as opposed to one where you can make yourself a walking tank as the game goes on. This isn't possible in 3 due to the developers getting rid of the poise system between 2 and 3. Dark Souls 1 assumes you haven't played any of these games, whereas Dark Souls 3 almost assumes you've played Bloodborne and want some of that in your Dark Souls. 2 has the easiest bosses, but there are some cheap other encounters and the design of the game is messy and poorly indicative of the experience. So overall I'd say Dark Souls 1 is the best place to start.

But as Ash said, Dark Souls 1 is a bit of a mess on PC and requires mods to make it work right.

I highly recommend playing with a controller, whichever game you go with.

It's not so much that they got RID of poise, only that it's not the same as it was. But the devs refuse to explain what it does now. *shrug*

It seems to do nothing, so you're right, while the stat is still there, it appears to be meaningless. I never realized there was a problem since I stuck with dex builds until I went on Reddit and saw people talk about how Havel builds didn't work as well anymore.

Yeah my brother mentioned Poise is goofy in 3. No worries on the controller, I have a good one that I use for the JRPGs and such that I play, too. I'll probably snag DS2 first, 3 is still full price and my brother's got a lot of time in SotFS so I figure I can grill him for the basics.

Ash: "Go with 3."
Me: "Go with 1."
Cyn: "I will walk the path between." And then "Damn you, Black Gulch!"

:p
