What are you playing?

I'm glad people are liking NMS. It's having a neat effect in Elite, where there is a sudden influx of new players.

I'll give NMS a try when they fix the PC version. It'll probably be on sale by then.

The more I watch gameplay of NMS the more I think I'd be okay dropping like, 20 bucks on it. If it has a big sale down the road I'll probably pick it up then, but there's no way I'd pay more than that for it as the game is now.

Alright, went to the Data Crystals merchant on the Republic fleet, and now instead of 950 data crystals, I have like 60. I have Outlander Pummeler everything except headgear. Gave all the Zakuulan Silk Force Expert gear to Kira. Think it looks pretty good.

Xenophon Djoenis, Sith Assassin, looks actually rather unsettling. It's the Sith Gimp Mask that does it.

I put Zhora Feral in the Imperial Flight Suit for the time being.

Verdugo Estoque is showing his Dark Side cred. I'll replace that armor soon (it's the Blade Savant set from a loot crate)

This one started as a joke. Rusala Arkhot is from a humanoid species that lacks eyes, and sees using The Force. So what would be more absurd than a pilot's outfit?

Prolly because people are going to play a real space game. A know a lot of people held out for NMS are that pearl of a game and didn't get what they wanted.

Elite is the best thing out there, probably until that other game gets released, in 2018.[DOUBLEPOST=1471482544,1471482083][/DOUBLEPOST]
You mean you downloaded the GOG DRM free version from a torrent site.

I TOTALLY DIDN'T DO THE SAME THING. PURCHASED LEGALLY!

I don't like the game. It's tedious and my own need to collect everything meant I spent 4 hours combing the planet trying to discover everything. Then I turned it off.
Haven't played it again TBH, no interest.

Don't pre-order yo.[DOUBLEPOST=1471482577][/DOUBLEPOST]I'd play Elite once it's GOTY edition, I played the original, loved it

Well, I made it to level 40 as a Jedi Consular (sage) and I'm starting to lose interest. Nice stories, no doubt, but gameplay has become repetitively mashing the same sequence of skills. Bleh. I wish I hadn't selected Sage. I wanted something less DPS-y, but the heals have been useless. The companion spams the crap out of heals, so there's no point.

The one irritating moment so far was the end boss for Chapter 1 (Lord Vivicar). He kept one-shotting me, which had never happened before from any other boss. I had to look it up. Apparently he's casting a force ability that you can stop with Mind Snap, but I couldn't tell he was doing anything at all. It was hard to make it out with his weird red glowy aura.

Anyway, I'm doing F2P, and I keep maxing out my credits because there doesn't seem to be anything to spend them on. None of the drops accept mods, and there's never anything good at my level on the auction house.

I do like solo flashpoints, though. Those are fun. The space missions are fun, too, though it seems like I'm alone in thinking that.

If you're playing Enderal, it's as much playing Skyrim as New Vegas is playing Fallout 3.
Time to download it.[DOUBLEPOST=1471528389,1471527875][/DOUBLEPOST]I logged in to NMS last night just for a bit (I was tired and wanting to go to bed early after the previous night's party). I landed on this planet and after walking a bit the screen lit up with the red "dangerous animal" icon and not just one...like all over. Turns out that the myth that animals don't hunt in packs in NMS is false. These guys fucking swarmed me. They were horse-sized spiny dog creatures and they were all over me. It was one of the most intense fights I've had in a computer game. I won and ran like a scared rabbit back to my ship, took off, and went to a new spot. Turns out they were there as well. Everywhere I went they were there in packs of at least 5 or more. There are 9 other species on the planet to discover. Not sure I'm going to be able to find them.

I'm going to rename it "Planet Purge".

IMO Jedi Consular is the most boring storyline in the game. Though even playing a different class wouldn't erase the MMO repetitiveness.

If you want to play Healer, switch your companion to DPS stance. They'll focus on dealing damage then, stop healing, and you can heal them to your heart's content. To do this, right click on their portrait in the lower left and hit the "Role change" or "Switch stance" option. But yes... all of the classes generally have rotation that works well and is easy to figure out. For instance, here is my Gunnery Commando rotation:

Grav Round > Super Gas > Demo Round > Electro Net > Vortex Bolt > Boltstorm > Grav Round > Boltstorm > Grav Round > Mag Bolt > Demo Round > Grav Round > Boltstorm

This is because Gunnery is BUILT around spamming Grav Round (which breaks armor, triggers Mag Bolt and gives me a free Bolt Storm). Most classes work the same way: your first core ability from the class change is the bread and and butter of your build from that point on.

If something like this happens in the future, look at his target bar (next to your status bar) during the fight. Whenever the enemy does a channeled or charged ability, you'll see a channel bar that means it's time to use your interrupt.

If you want adaptive armor and weapons for your mods, you need to look for it specifically. Next time you go to the cartel market, when you want to get armor, do this:

Armor > Adaptive Armor > Set level 1-1

For weapons:

Weapons > Weapon Choice > Custom > 1-1

Doing this will show you stuff ONLY from Cartel Lockboxes that people are selling on the market. Some of it can get REALLY expensive, but it all looks good.

Alternatively, if you go to the SUPPLIES wing on Fleet and then travel to the FIRST section of it, you can find a vendor that sells Legacy Adaptive Armor for Data Crystals. You can find a full set of whatever you need there. Then just buy mods for your level in the other rooms of the Supplies wing.[DOUBLEPOST=1471530259,1471530221][/DOUBLEPOST]

This too. I'm... struggling to get through the Consular storyline so I can get my Legendary frame.

Yeah the Consular storyline is dull and the Consular often seems like more of a righteous prick than a hero. And the companions...

Qyzen Fess isn't bad, for a scaly monster. But the rest seem like kind of a bummer. And his main NPCs are all just a drag.

After playing through both Jedi Knight and Bounty Hunter, I found myself disliking Doc more than Skadge, and I'd love the ability to kill Skadge. But Skadge is a violent thug from a prison world - he is what he is. Doc is a vainglorious asshole who is supposed to be a good guy but I wanted to Force Choke him every time he spoke. So I gave him the stupidest looking visor I could find. Made it funny when he's trying to be a ladies man with a visor they'd throw away in an 80's sci-fi comedy.

Imperial Agent was always my favorite, though playing through the other sith classes first makes it better because you know what's going on in the background.

One of the more interesting things about the Imperial Agent is realizing how all the power plays and infighting and plots you take part in with the Sith Classes are detrimental to the functioning of the Empire as a whole, and how hard Imperial Intelligence has to work to try and keep things running despite all the disruptions. The truth is, both the Republic and the Empire are corrupt. In the Republic, the corruption is from the bottom up, as criminal organizations make deals with Senators and planetary aristocrats subverting the laws they're supposed to be upholding. In the Empire, the corruption flows from the top down, from the Emperor through the Dark Council, down to even the merest slave.

Oh, and in 3 warzone matches with my Sith Inquisitor, I'm at Valor 4 and went from level 17 to level 21. In like 45 minutes maybe. And 30k credits.

I also enjoyed playing the exasperated light side IA who just wanted shit to get done right. I did pick one dark side choice at the end of a certain chapter because fuck that guy.

Yeah I'm also doing Light Side IA. Basically it's Michael Weston from Burn Notice meets Star Wars. Which I guess would make Kaliyo the analogue to Fiona, and Vector the equivalent to Sam Axe? I could live with that.

I finished a playthrough of Wolfenstein: The New Order.

It's pretty good. Solid gameplay, with interesting characters and premise and storyline. If I had to make a complaint, it's that the stealth aspect of the game feels a bit half-assed, particularly since enemies won't raise any alarm if they discover a corpse. But on the whole, good game.

Gonna do another playthrough and save the other guy, I think.

No One Lives Forever was great about this... not only would they raise the alarm, they'd sprinkly the Body Removing Powder on the corpse and usually say something like "Sorry Fred, but there's less paperwork this way."

Still sad that Monolith basically dumped the franchise after CONTRACT JACK (which sucked because it was a lame shooter and not a spy game) and then Monolith went on to do nothing but FEAR games.

What did you think of the ending? I haaaaaaaaaaated it. Everything up to the end of the game was great, but holy shit, when

Death's Head basically defeats you in defeat during a cutscene, I was so pissed off. I hate when video games do that shit. I hate losing in cutscenes.

Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of the ending either, especially since BJ's been able to shrug off stupid amounts of damage throughout the game. I thought there'd be a final part to the game where I have to escape the collapsing fortress and make it to the chopper before the nuke hits. But nope, grenade goes off, dramatic scene, ROLL CREDITS!

Though at the time I didn't really think too much about it, I was just relieved that Anya survived the storyline. I felt like they were building her up throughout the game just to kill her off at the end. Especially since the game doesn't shy away from brutally killing characters.

New outfit for Verdugo. Very creepy. Probably will keep this for a while.

Xenophon's been doing warzones. He's level 25 and haven't even done black talon yet.

I caved and bought No Man's Sky.

In the last 24 hours, I've spent 10 of them playing this. I'm sure I'd have done more in that time if I was smart, but a thing I used to do in Skyrim is just wander and get lost and enjoy exploring. That's awesome in Skyrim when you have fast-travel when you're finally sick of being lost in the wilderness. In NMS, nope. Unless you find a waypoint with a beacon that can call your ship, tough shit, Christopher Columbus, you're walking all the way back.

My first planet was a radioactive hellhole with barely any life.
Second planet, every animal hopped. All of them. No legs, all hopping. It also had toxic rain 24 hours a day.

Next system, first planet is teeming with life around every corner. It's busy and noisy and I love it. I loved it too much, in fact, because by the time I was done, I realized I was 25 minutes' walk from my ship. Good thing it was a pretty desert, because that was quite a slog. Other locations said 6 hours on foot.

Just to experiment, I flew to the other side of the planet. Regions change--there are differences in geography, which I was worried wouldn't be the case. So you'll have areas where the flora becomes scarce, or water is more plentiful, etc. But the actual life is mostly uniform. Some regions will be missing an animal or another, but if you've explored two or three regions, you've seen the planet's offerings (ruins and special stuff aside).

So my beautiful planet? Turns out there's some kind of ocean made of shoggoth that sleeps beneath the surface and after a few seasons it harvest most of the lifeforms on the surface, then sleeps again and waits for the surface to repopulate. Thanks, data logs. This was my paradise and now all I can think of are the red eyeballs and teeth that coated the inside of the derelict waypoints I visited.

No Man's Sky isn't for everyone, but it's definitely for me.

So, better or worse than Godzilla? :p

I'm also playing it, and will be writing up a review on it. I've got somewhere around 10 hours in it currently, I'm wanting to be thorough given its claimed size.

I don't think I ever mentioned it but I'm also enjoying it for what it is.

One of my favourite things to do is set the ship down after emptying my inventory, setting out and then making a point to not go back to where I parked my ship, only being able to call it down from a beacon. Longest stretch had a twenty minute walk back if I decided to give up and hoof it. Some of the cave systems I've found while doing so have been pretty stunning.

I think part of my own problem is that I forgot what the beacon looked like and mistook it for a signal scanner. So I probably passed them by like a dolt.

I should post some pics to once I pull them off the PS4.

That was probably the other 14 hours :p
Look at all the Jared Letos.

What a difference a day can make.

So I spent another 8 and a half hours on No Man's Sky, and I hate to say it, but the seams are showing. Maybe I need to jump a couple star systems distance from where I am, but things are becoming very samey and I'm starting to wonder if this was a rental after all.

I'll keep playing this week. I might just be burned out for now.

I have 'beaten' the game twice now. It doesn't change.

I did cheat for the second time though, because fuck you game... you'll know why when and if it happens.

So that outfit lasted like half a day before I got this one with better stats. And Verdugo's now Dark III and it shows.

My wife and I were talking and we realized what's probably the biggest problem (personally) with No Man's Sky. It feels like instead of doing an activity, we were zoned out for the weekend. As if we just vegged from Friday to Sunday, which due to certain circumstances might not be the worst thing.

My wife only played it herself for a couple hours and when she got off, she said, "I need to play some Overwatch, because I feel like I just sat on the couch for two hours staring." I'm not ready for tomorrow to be Monday ... like, more than usual.

Wish I could get my $60 back, but once opened, Gamestop games become pre-owned. And on that note, now that I've spent the last of my Gamestop store credit, I think I'm done with them. Just gonna spend my last PowerUp coupon on a new stylus and then I'm out.

Yeah, the game is not holding me as it once had. I only have one thing left to do and that's upgrade my ship. My choices are to keep scanning for crash sites and fix up ships or make enough money to buy one. I've been doing nothing but high commerce and I only have like 50 million credits. It's gotten tedious. Exploring doesn't hold my interest any more because every planet is largely the same. I have yet to find a planet where I went, "Whoa! This is cool!"
