[Gaming] Overwatch (#boycottblizz)

Yeah... about the only differences between Overwatch and Paladins are...

- Paladins uses a collectible card game element to let modify your characters. This used to be something that changed character every match but players complained that it could fuck them so it got changed.
- Paladins ties into Smite: you can get a REALLY nice Fernado skin for Ares in Smite by buying something in Paladins and I think Fernado gets an Ares skin for this too.

Otherwise... yeah, it's F2P Overwatch which means it's going to do gangbusters in China, South Korea, and South America. It's alright... not as polished as Overwatch, but not terrible ether.

You think that is bad? I once got two legendaries in a single box... of the same skin. Wonderful.
Wow, that would've sucked way worse. See two oranges, thinking it's going to be great ... nope.

It wouldn't be so bad if we got a decent amount of coins, like equivalent to purchasing a thing of that rarity, since if we didn't already have it, that's what we'd be getting anyway.

I killed Terrik last night by giving him that buff after you and Snuffles left.

Though this was in a match where we had an attack Bastion that did 40% of our team's damage, so honestly, he would have died anyways.

You guys know the disdain I have for the "upper tiers are doing it so everybody should" meta, but here's a video about something we might be seeing more of lately - the 3-tank-3-healer team with an Ana anchor, built directly to counter the traditional 2-tank-2-damage-2-healer team.

The key to taking it out is apparently to prioritize keeping Ana dead. Which can be a real hassle if they go with the recommended build (Reinhardt-Zarya-Winston-Zenyatta-Lucio-Ana)... as that's a LOT of shields and barriers between you and Ana, in addition to all the supplemental healing from Lucio and Zenyatta to help keep her alive.

It happens sometimes, but I don't really think it's going to pop up in our scrub level very often. ;) Honestly, tanks do reasonable damage, as seen by me and Terrik/Snuffles usually getting the medals for those things already. :p

The main reason it doesn't work well at our level is because of what he said at the end, people have to give a shit about everyone else. We're more likely to see it when we have a bigger group, but it's not going to be common with randos I imagine.

Surprisingly enough, I ran into exactly this just after you guys signed off last night. Word's getting around, people are trying the 3xTank strat in QP.
And yes, once you get enough Mercys (or Zenyattas, for that matter) in the game, it starts being all "Go, team Cleric!"

For @GasBandit:
Here's a video of some of the bullshittiest bullshit that ever did bullshit.

Heh, I saw that the other day. I don't understand how Zarya didn't kill everyone 24/7 with her personal shield never on cooldown.

Anywho... I had fun last night maining Roadhog. Starting to maybe get a little better at using the hook, but I'm not under the delusion that one good night in QP means I'm ready to use him in competitive yet.

Oh, but I did want to ask those who play Roadhog more often - when you hook somebody, where do you aim for the followup shot? At the head, or at center mass? I seemed to have survivors of the followup more than I thought I should, given my experiences being on the other end of it.

Its because its harder than it tooks. At any rate, I usually aim slightly down. Hog is taller than most other characters so aiming down for center of mass sometimes hits the head too. Also, generally you won't one shot anything at 250HP and above.

This, plus you should step into your shot a little to land all of your spray.

Yeah, I figured that, but I was having 200 hp heroes survive about half the time - Symmetra, Soldier, Lucio, etc. I was aiming for the head though, and not stepping forward as Snuffles says, so I'll try that, next chance I get to play him.

Right, because, the head is still kind of small, and sometimes if I try to get overzealous with my headshotting, half the pellets will miss. Of course, this is ALSO why people do an immediate melee attack as part of the hook/shoot action.

You know when I complain that my shots miss skinny characters because of my giant hit reticle? It's like that.

Also make sure you're using your main fire instead of your alt.
Roadhog's alt fire does practically no damage until after it explodes, and it won't explode until it hits that preset distance.

Yeah, I'm using the right one.

It's surprisingly hard to hook and cook D.Va outside her mech... spankbait doesn't have enough of a silhouette to catch all the fragments in the spread.

New PTR? Patch notes? Wut?

-Ana's ult charges 20% slower.
-Widowmaker's scope will come up 40% faster.
-Launching Rip-Tire will now happen faster (Pulling the ripcord? Driving speed? Dunno)
-Widowmaker can no longer grapple balls.
No word on whether Symmetra can still juggle balls.
