Whats for Dinner?

Pork, cabbage and mushroom pot stickers :)

I used black bean sauce for dipping and I found it a bit much. What do you guys dip your potstickers in?

Right now I'm using 1Tbsp light soy sauce (light as in Chinese light soy sauce), 1Tbsp black vinegar, 1/2 tsp minced ginger, and 1/2 tsp Lao Gan Ma (or you can use hot oil). Some people just use straight black vinegar for their dipping sauce.
That's pretty close to what I use. But I don't have any specialty hot oil, so I usually use a bit of sriracha instead.

Country style ribs, creamed corn, spring greens with dried cranberries and candied walnuts

Seared the 'ribs' (they're really part of the shoulder blade), and then put them in the pressure cooker for a half hour. They were falling-off-the-bone tender.

Fried a bag of frozen shrimp. No horseradish to make coctail sauce so I used ground mustard and ground ginger (half/half). It actually tasted better than proper stuff so *shrug*

Sometimes you don't gotta break yourself if you wanna have a nice dinner.

Morey's pre-marinated Alaskan salmon (from Costco), grilled for that smokey flavor.
Sriracha flavored green beans (Bird's Eye brand)--I hate green beans, but these were delicious.
Farro cooked in chicken stock (Trader Joe's brand)
Dinner rolls (Sister Schubert heat and eat).

All told, dinner took me less than 20 minutes, not counting grill warming time, and I barely did anything at all.
Put the salmon on frozen (which the box says you can do), and flipped it once after 8 minutes.
Cooked the farro in a pot for 10 minutes, hands-off.
Put the beans in the microwave--5.5 minutes.
Heated the rolls in the oven for 12 minutes.
Dinner still looked fancy and phenomenal, with no work at all. No wonder so many people don't know how to cook. :D

Porterhouse steak (though a little on the thin side to have that designation), hasselback potato, spotted dick with lemon and orange infused custard for dessert. Next time I make those potatoes, I'm going to try to get about 3 times as many slices in.

As a side commentary, British primary school kids can go to school and titter behind their hands about "spotted dick," but I'm pretty sure if my kid did it, he'd be sent to the office and disciplined. Didn't we form our own country so we'd be *more* free than the British?

Incidentally, the spotted dick turned out amazing :D
