[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

There are idiots on Reddit who say the Logan trailer should've used the Nine Inch Nails original song instead of the Johnny Cash cover.

Most music/movie/media etc stuff you can kind of gauge with some measure of subjectivity, but not in this case. The Cash cover is objectively and obviously an improvement.

Yeah, that's not even close. I mean, fucking Trent Reznor said that once he heard Cash's cover, he considered it to be Cash's song now.

Yeah, the lonesome sound of the guitar coupled with Cash's old, tired (but still great!) voice are the perfect soundscape for the feel of the movie. Two old, tired Mutants just trying to survive in a world that hates them more than ever.

"Dwayne Johnson movie?" What is this, we gotta include the headliner in the title of everything now? Didn't we have enough of this with sports stadia?

A nostalgia based super-villain...I wander what THIS is commentary of?

SO-*CLAP* bad as Minions, or will it make up for it?
Well, it's not solely focused on the Minions, so it already has that going for it. Also, I imagine that Trey Parker could probably offer some solid fun as the villain.

Notice how you didn't see any of the girls? And how part of it seems to involve Spring Break?

I'm guessing the girls are going to be older and Gru and Lucy are going to be freaking out about Margo going to college or something.

Maybe, but from what I've seen only Margo and Edith's VAs are returning and not Agnes', prolly because her voice aged out at 13. They could still be going with the kid angle.

What I DO know is that apparently Gru meets his long-lost twin brother Dru...my sense of unease is rising.

What the hell was that?
The movie looks really, really bad.
Also, the makers have a weird fascination with baby butts.

I feel like everything's going to be from the imagination of the older kid. For example, when the baby's dragging him with his car, to him it's a fast-speed chase, but in reality it's rather slow.

Either that or that's the direction they were going to go early in development, and vestiges of it still remain in the movie.

The ad people at Fox know how to put together a good trailer. Prometheus had a solid trailer too, but I can't trust the trailer that this sequel is going to be a good movie, even if it looks interesting. I can feel the underlying problems of Prometheus present--a pretty movie with interesting ideas that the script does very little with in favor of having a slasher movie but with strange alien technology or environments doing the "kill cast one by one" instead of a serial killer.

The question in my mind is how did Ridley Scott take the criticism of Prometheus?

Did he eventually come to see the flaws in the script or is he coming into Covenant prepared to repeat the the same mistakes again?
I feel like i'm one of the few people who largely enjoyed watching Prometheus, but I can't argue against all the complaints people had with it.

No idea if Scott even cares about reviews. I can just see some of the same steps here, but it's hard to know from a trailer. I think Prometheus is worth watching both for what it did right and for what it did wrong. I was with the movie through most of it, but when it ended I didn't feel like it was all that good. I feel like Covenant will end up that way, but we'll have to see. I don't think even reviews are going to be helpful for this one unless it's absolute crap. I

But the Alien movie I'm really looking forward to is Alien: Legacy.
