Got into a dumb argument on Twitter today. It all started when I saw him tweet "The future of America is white and Christian." Hilarity ensued.

His final counteroffensive on me, though?

RETWEETING MY PINNED TWEET.

"I'll show HIM! I'll give him free advertising for his new novel!"

I'm missing something. Is he grasping at a typo?

Buying ink for a fountain pen "ironically" may have put you into the upper echelon of hipsterism :p
I've come to the terrifying conclusion that I may be a clone of James May. :aaah:
Noodler's is fond of inks with interesting backstories. This one is Brexit Royal Blue. A UK exclusive, but only~$20 shipped to the US.

So yeah, I had to.

But since I'm unsuited for skinny jeans, and I use a DE razor instead of letting the beard grow out, I think I've disqualified myself for hipsterdom.

I had vinyl, too, but I got rid of it. Got rid of my CDs too. I much prefer disembodied copies. Plus, I research signal processing for a living, so I'd argue with any audiophilia arguments till I was blue in the face.

What do you use your ink for?

I have discovered what the price of my sanity is:

$440 per month.

That is the difference between my monthly pension starting in January of 2018, as opposed to me staying at my current job until November of 2021.

You have any advice into definitively good upsampling hardware/software? 'Cuz I'd love to turn a bunch of 44's into 88 lossless, if only for archival purposes.

Some say, "human life is priceless!"

Ha! Tell that to an actuary.

"The people on my Facebook friends list are a rather homogeneous bunch, in terms of their activities and political views and post contents. Today I'm going to expand my horizons by deliberately seeking out Facebook pages I disagree with, and reading their posts!"

(thirty minutes later)

"Thinking about complex issues is hard. I'm going back to my comforting homogeneity now."

I've been keeping a journal on and off for years, but I use my pens at work wherever I don't exclusively need a ballpoint. So everything I'm writing except the bank deposit slips. The carbonless copies don't do fountain pens very well.

And yeah, when I'm wanting to write something in the journal and have no idea what I want to put down, I'll write something like, "yeah, I'm writing down about having nothing to write down again." That happens a lot. :)

My biggest argument in favor of vinyl over digital is a 12-year old script kiddie isn't going to be able to wipe out my music library for the lulz. And there's no sense of accomplishment, no rush to typing the name of an album into a search engine and hitting "download." Compare that to finding an original issue copy of FZ's Hot Rats that is almost *never* seen in the wild.

I won't deny it's a whole lot easier to grab a digital copy, especially to have for in the car. But there's the thrill of the chase, man. That's a lot of the fun.

Fountain pen takeover continues! Today's new arrivals. TWSBI Diamond 580, and two Jinhaos, 159 and X750. My daily driver Esterbrook J (which is older than @Dave by a good decade :p) for scale:

Hey I'll buy that part.

Natsu Dragneel's fighting Ace on Death Battle and I saw his back story, MAN-he has one of the most overly complicated backstories in Shonen history.
Died a 1000 years ago, was ressurected as a demon, trained in fire magic by a dragon, and then finally sent FOUR HUNDRED years into the future with all the other Dragon Slayers to save the world.
I am not regretting losing touch with this series. I find that almost as ridiculous as that one story where they basically met and/or fought Earth-2 versions of themselves.
