Recently (sometime this year) finished:
The Blackwell Epiphany - this series is fantastic, and this was a great finale. I really grew attached to the characters over the course of things.
Guacamelee Gold Edition - Damn, this game got hard at points. I did get 100% completion for collecting things (though I didn't do any of the El Infernio challenges), but I was getting really frustrated at some of the platforming puzzles. The end boss took me many, many attempts as well. I kept trying because I really like the game. The art style is beautiful, the controls feel good, the humor is meme-tastic, and generally it's a good mix of fighting game and metroidvania. I will fault the final boss for being too big of a departure from how other fights in the game play out. I did eventually learn what works, but at first it felt very cheap because the style of fighting the rest of the game has been training you in gets almost entirely thrown out the window.
LEGO Batman - Wow, before playing this I wasn't aware the older LEGO games had all been pantomime, with no voice acting. My first LEGO game was Batman 2, which is also the first one to have voice acting. I don't think I'll be getting any of the other older LEGO games I missed, but it was interesting to take a trip back in time and see how much polish has been put on the series since this one came out. (I managed to soft-lock several levels by doing things in ways the designers didn't expect, something I've never done with later games)
Stories: The Path of Destinies - This one is more fun than it is good. I absolutely adore the main character, Reynaldo the Fox, and the story is interesting, with a great narrator, but the game is severely lacking in polish. Combat isn't very deep, even though it can be fun. The levels are pretty, but you'll end up running through the same levels over and over... but they've got differences depending on which choices you've made, so it makes it very difficult to know which paths you've taken before, which ones you still need to search and... It gets kinda frustrating. The game would have been a lot better if you could skip directly to the choices in branching paths, rather than having to replay the story from the start every single time. Still, I really enjoyed myself.
Grim Fandango Remastered - Still my favorite game of all time, and I had so much fun hearing all the commentary. The graphical upgrades aren't mind-blowing, but they are welcome. If you haven't played this game, I highly recommend it.
