For those actually paying attention to the numbers on the left side of the screen:

Every day, every colonist needs 2 meals. It takes 10 units of raw food to make a meal (10 veg to make a simple meal, or 5 veg 5 meat to make a "fine" meal which confers a morale boost).

That means, with roughly 50 colonists, approximately 100 meals (plus whatever the animals get into) are eaten per day... or 1000 worth of raw food.

We went into this winter with around 6000 rice in reserve, and were managing to stretch it pretty well with meat from hunting (the caribou attack was actually a big help). But then the wedding happened and WHOOMP there it went. Now, with my sun lamp and 2 hydroponic nutrient troughs, rice is still trickling in little by little, but it's not enough. There's about.. 312 (I think) emergency meals in storage.

The first thing that's gonna happen is the male muffalos in the wild muffalo herd are gonna get hunted. After that, we may have to risk hunting/butchering boomalopes and boomrats... I'll request a bulk goods caravan, but that will take 4 days to get here, and it is an expensive way to get food but we can't exactly eat silver coins. In the meantime, I'm starting to fear for the lives of any tame animal that hasn't bonded with a colonist yet - including dogs. And that's if things don't get any worse. If anything more happens, like a crop blight or another cold snap... we're gonna have some real hard choices to make.

Well, if it makes you feel better, chalk it up to the fact that the numbers are not on your side. There are a lot more guys than ladies in the colony, I think.
Especially on the night shift.[DOUBLEPOST=1501862290,1501862160][/DOUBLEPOST]
Do I want to know if mini-D kept the fingers she ripped off?
She did not :p they're apparently under one of the workbenches in the shop or something... couldn't find em even to reattach them.

Good thing you don't need all your fingers to do research.

Speaking of research, building three research stations and having so many ardent researchers working day and night is making us SHRED through research. Right now, we've just passed the one year mark and have accomplished easily 5 years worth of research. That's good. Now if we only had the resources to make the things we research.

It's not even a really good bed! It's just larger than a regular bed.
It's not about the bed. It's about keeping the power dynamic. Had she dumped me I'd have expected to lose the bed and have to go to a cramped single. But NOOOOO!

(By the way, I really don't care. But my character HATES Dei now, so...)

But...but I'm young, virile, and (relatively) unscarred! I'm a damned catch, I tell you!

Oh, hey, is it opposites day again already? Neat![DOUBLEPOST=1501862722,1501862684][/DOUBLEPOST]Y'know what? I think that might just qualify as an update to my signature, that one.

Not as much as she hates you :p

Yeah, @Ravenpoe predicted this.

I'm probably a good option. I believe he's been burning so many times that a good char has set in and the meat inside is a nice medium rare.
Fun Fact: Frank is the only character who has taken enough damage to need new clothes (shirt AND pants) made for him because the old ones took too much damage to provide cover/warmth anymore.

It'd probably also have included the jacket, except he was the first to embrace the summer's Duster fashion trend, and switched to a parka in the winter.

In all (simulated) actuality, if the colony ever DOES butcher and eat a colonist, there's going to be a massive morale problem. Like, Greendale Paintball levels of societal breakdown.

Assuming the food isn't somebody's spouse/lover/relative...

Penalties to mood:
"A Colonist died" -3
"My Friend (Name) died" -1 point per 10 social status
"We butchered a human" -6
"I ate cooked human" -20 (-25 if raw, and a FURTHER -12 if straight off the corpse)

Except RavenPoe. He'll get a +20 if he eats raw human meat, or a mere +15 if he has to cook it first.

He shouldn't have been attacking us, sorry.

I hope @Celt Z and my wedding doesn't cause starvation amongst the colonists. It would make it a pretty memorable event, though... The wedding that killed an entire colony.
On the one hand, mass starvation is a horrific thing.

On the other hand, assuming some of the colony survives, it will drastically simplify escaping the planet before the planetkiller gets here :D

Just remember you need to keep at least one highly social person around to help restore morale. Even if he'd otherwise taste like chicken.

Everbody's mad at you for being the one who had to do the deed to sell that cryptosleeper into slavery. Which is not fair, I grant you.
