Actually, the last update was just the end of year 2 (5501). We landed Aprimay 2, 5500. The planetkiller will arrive... in Aprimay 5511 I think? So there's about 10 years to go.
Losing about 3 colonists a year so far, but hey, that's that many less Cryptosleep pods the ship needs before we can get outta here.
Just managing expectations here: It is unlikely there will be room for the animals. It'll be dicey just getting room for all the colonists!

HALFORUMS HOUSE:RIMWORLD, year 5502 part 1
Aprimay 3, 5502 - Adam completes an excellent sculpture of Null and Dei "gamboling between the sheets." It is installed in the main courtyard for everyone to enjoy.
Apr 4 - A caravan is sent to the nearest town to look for uranium.
Apr 5 - The caravan is attacked by 7 pirates right outside the allied town. Half the pirates are killed and the rest driven off, with moderate to light wounds among the caravaneers. Adam and Zero get into a fight. When the caravan reaches the town, there is no Uranium for sale. But there is gold, which is needed too, and chickens and roosters! New food source, ahoy! Hope everybody likes eggs.

Apr 6 - Luckily, another Exotic trade ship hits orbit, with another lung. Another 2000 silver for another crack at fixing up Dirona.
Apr 8 - Dave hunts a dangerous grizzly in the area. He kills it, but gets a little shredded in return. Nothing permanent, though. Wasabi gets so upset that she "had" to eat standing up because "it was too far to the dining hall" and goes to sulk in her room for an entire day. Jun transplants the new lung into Dirona with no difficulty whatsoever. Word comes down that Zappit's brother, Bret Pitt, has died. The news saddens him, and he goes off on his own to mope.

Apr 9 - Another grizzly bear comes all the way into the colony, but it is shot down by multiple colonists before it can hurt anything.
Apr 12 - a pack of 27 man-eating lynx enter the area. CynicalKat is cut down in a hail of friendly fire from Klew. For that matter, there are heavy injuries all around, Squidley's nose has been bitten off and Terrik has lost a leg. Megumi the Spelopede loses its mind in anguish and becomes a manhunter as well, attacking other colonists. It starts by attacking Cog and JWhouk, who flee into the dining hall. Krisken unknowingly opens the door and lets Megumi in, then flees himself. Soupy is left to deal with it with his knife until the militia gets back from the front gate. DarkAudit runs to help him. Between the two of them, they put the poor insect down. The vast majority of the injuries in this fight were friendly fire, and tensions are high.

Apr 13 - Squidley throws an unreasonble hissyfit in the middle of eating for being SO HUNGRY and she can't feed herself fast enough. Ironically, this prevents her from eating and makes everything worse. A red fox slips into the compound in the confusion and attacks a muffalo calf. Celt Z tries to save it, but her aim is terrible... not only does she fail entirely to hit the fox, she actually hits the calf. The Fox leisurely eats the calf while Celt Z completely ineffectively fires at it. It is only brought down when it finishes eating.

Apr 14 - Jun fixes up Squidley with an artificial nose. Her broken heart, however, is beyond Jun's arts. Terrik also gets a bionic leg installed by his wife. Moffa is put in charge of interring CynicalKat in her sarcophagus, and he has no chill and minces no words - the artwork depicts Klew viciously and intentionally murdering her without remorse.
Jugust 2 - Clearly, caravanning is not getting us any Uranium. Moffa, Cheesy, Cog, and Zero are launched in transport pods with ample provisions to set up a mining camp to the north, where they can prospect for the stuff. Klew is wounded by gunfire from Celt Z, ostensibly in a hunting accident. "I was shooting at the Ibex" swears Celt Z. Klew has lost his ear. Mikerc and BErt go at it when BErt lets an insult fly. Both walk away with bruises.

Jug 3 - Gruebeard is the one to install Klew's bionic ear, as nobody else is really happy with him at all.
Jug 4 - Jun ameliorates Bubbles' bad back by implanting him with a bionic spine. Now he's better than he's ever been.

Jug 6 - Frank is insulted by Wasabi, and they beat on each other for a while. It's about even, but Frank comes away from the fight feeling better, and Wasabi more frustrated. A psychic wave sweeps over the area and turns every tortoise into a manhunter. Several feet are bitten. Gruebeard attempts to help Gas Bandit with a tortoise and shoots Gas' arm off instead. PatrThom's dad, still imprisoned, comes down with plague. Fortunately, the rest of the colony has been taking their penoxycyline, so it shouldn't spread to the general population.

Jug 9 - Far takes a swing at Frank when Frank insults him. The two don't stop until Frank is beaten unconscious. No sooner does Frank hit the ground, than a tribal raid arrives. Despite this disadvantage, the tribals are easily mowed down by massed fire. Null takes the "outside path" and gets stabbed but escapes with the loss of merely one toe, and Denbrought is beaten a bit in melee range, but nothing serious to either person. Really, Frank's the worst off of the bunch. Four tribals are taken prisoner, to treat and release, but one of them bleeds out during treatment. Gruebeard gets his foot torn off by a megasloth. Ashburner hits on Jun, Dirona, and Quining, and gets shot down by all three. He then wanders off to mope and not do any work for a day or so.

Jug 14 - the first mining camp is a bust. A fair amount of steel, a little silver, and some components, but no Uranium. The miners return to the main colony to regroup and plan the next step. Emrys proposes to BErt, and he accepts! Will they get married before winter? That night, a psychic droning compels Adam to run into his room and barricade the door.

Jug 15 - Dei accepts Null's marriage proposal. It's gonna be a fat couple days, whenever those weddings take place. Ravenpoe tries to tame a boomalope, and it reacts violently. The whole herd turns man-eater. He's forced to defend himself, and it explodes on both he and his dog Alexei. Dirona gets trampled, but nobody can get to her because the rogue boomalopes are in the way. SpecialKO rises to the occasion, killing 3 boomalopes with his plasteel longsword despite them exploding on him one by one. Good thing he's wearing power armor and it's raining. Dirona manages to regain consciousness during the fight and staggers back home under her own power. All three of them get patched up in the infirmary, though Dirona has to stay overnight.

Man, I dunno why Zappit's beefing with me, but apparently my pawn is oblivious to it.... sounds about right.
Wow, art imitates life! I was born with practically no cartilage in my nose and it used to squish right down to my face. I had sinus surgery years ago and when the surgeon was in there, even though we hadn't discussed it, he grafted some of the extra bone he removed from my sinus into my my nose/septum so my nose stands up and looks sort of normal. Not quite bionic, but an interesting coincidence. I've also been on a crazy high short term dose of steroids for my AS that left me freaking out because I got so hungry and couldn't eat enough. Ask @HCGLNS about that night at The Keg lol.

HALFORUMS HOUSE:RIMWORLD - 5502 part 2 - Autumn
An interesting fall, though perhaps more interesting to play than to watch/read about. I had to stretch myself and try something I had not done previously.

Septober 1, 5502 - Adam can't deal with being rebuffed by Celt Z, and goes off to binge on the sweet, addictive euphoria of Ambrosia fruit. Shortly thereafter, a psychic ship crashes outside the wall. In the morning, the militia lines up at the killbox and the mortars begin bombarding the mechanoids to get them to take the bait. But Film Fanatic, Cog, and Kags can't hit a single thing with the mortars and the whole thing has to be called off before the militia starves at their positions. They try again after nightfall, and fortunately, Dodge, Sara, and Jwhouk prove to be better shots. At the killbox, the Scythers get there first, and though they are defeated, Celt Z takes a shot to the right arm that leaves her both in danger of losing the arm and bleeding out, so she is sent back to get it treated. The 3 remaining caterpillars are seriously damaged by mortar fire, and so the militia stands down to let the big cannons pound them the rest of the way. Sara can't take the stress and wanders off. When the mechanoids are down to one extremely damaged caterpillar, the bombardment stops, and SpecialKO goes out to finish it by sword.

Sept 2 - An expeditionary force is dropped via transport pod into a detected mineral cluster to the northeast. No enemy is found, but no uranium either. Lots of gold and steel, though. Moffa, Gas, Cheesy, Dave, Terrik and SpecialKO grab everything they can before they have to head home. With no enemies to fight, Only Moffa and Cheesy really have much to do there.

Sept 3 - Opening an ancient set of cryptosleep caskets reveals two dead bodies and a badly wounded nurse. The nurse is rescued. When she regains consciousness, Susy decides to join the group.

Sept 5 - The mining expedition returns with Susy and a fair amount of gold and silver, and a tiny bit of uranium salvaged from the cryptosleep pods Susy was found in. That night, Wasabi hunts a boomrat, and... well... On a surprisingly unrelated note, a boomalope mysteriously dies and sparks off a massive wildfire that consumes most of the others in a chain reaction. By the time it starts raining, easily half the boomalope herd is gone. Because Wasabi was wounded in the middle of the night (and also took time to do other things before seeking medical attention), she is not tended until the morning, by which time her leg has an infection.

Sept 7 - The colony trades out the dusters of summer for the parkas of the upcoming winter.
Sept 8 - A trade caravan arrives and with them is.. Gas Bandit's lover?! I had no idea... At any rate, a charge rifle is purchased. It is also discovered that Siska has created a masterwork sculpture depicting Jun elbow-deep in Bubble's guts as she performs his spine replacement surgery. Dei insists it should be installed in the hospital. The ship's computer core is completed construction, thanks to the gold that was recovered. Now it just needs a reactor and cryptosleep caskets...

Sept 9 - Zappit and Darkaudit have a fight in the hayfield. DarkAudit comes away with considerablyless FEWER bruises. Squidley makes a masterwork sculpture of Dodge training a labrador while a vulture watches them... an omen?

Sept 10 - Gas and Terrik are sent to scout the other nearby possible mineral strike, to see if it is guarded. They find a tribal outpost. Frank, Charon, Gruebeard, SpecialKO and Dave are sent as reinforcements. They take up positions, then Gas goes and snipes one out in the open unawares to get their attention. The others chase him to the waiting Halforumites. Gas gets hit by an arrow in the right arm, but otherwise it's a one-sided slaughter. Not a single tribal escapes alive. It turns out the tribals had a cache of Uranium hidden in their huts! It's a start, and a pleasant surprise. Cheesy is dropped in to help mine the nearby gold, and then everything is loaded up into pod launchers to send back to the main colony. They return gradually over the next couple days. It's now getting too cold to travel, and everyone will have to bundle up and stoke the fires at home for the coming winter.

Sept 13 - A boomalope goes mad, and attacks the colony. Gruebeard manages to snipe it before it hurts anybody.

Sept 14 - Work begins on improvements on the killbox. Ashburner decides to help himself to as much Ambrosia as he can stomach.
Sept 15 - The pirates switch tactics, and try to lay seige to the colony. Poe and Zappit's fathers are among the raiders. A mortar round dropped in the middle of their burgeoning fortifications convinces them to abandon the siege and charge to the attack. Working their way through the tamed boomalope herd, they lose more of their own to friendly fire, and mortar explosions (Boomalope explosions aren't as big a factor as they could be because it's raining, and they aren't stopping to finish off downed boomalopes). Poe's father is taken down by his own squadmates, and Zappit's father is downed by a mortar, and captured when his compatriots flee, leaving him behind. He shares the prison barracks with Patrthom's father.

Decembruary 1 - The first day of winter is commemerated by the wedding of Dei and Null. The food disappears in a whirlwind of gluttony.

Sept 10 - Gas and Terrik are sent to scout the other nearby possible mineral strike, to see if it is guarded. They find a tribal outpost. Frank, Charon, Gruebeard, SpecialKO and Dave are sent as reinforcements. They take up positions, then Gas goes and snipes one out in the open unawares to get their attention. The others chase him to the waiting Halforumites. Gas gets hit by an arrow in the right arm, but otherwise it's a one-sided slaughter. Not a single tribal escapes alive. It turns out the tribals had a cache of Uranium hidden in their huts! It's a start, and a pleasant surprise. Cheesy is dropped in to help mine the nearby gold, and then everything is loaded up into pod launchers to send back to the main colony. They return gradually over the next couple days. It's now getting too cold to travel, and everyone will have to bundle up and stoke the fires at home for the coming winter.

Sept 13 - A boomalope goes mad, and attacks the colony. Gruebeard manages to snipe it before it hurts anybody.

Sept 14 - Work begins on improvements on the killbox. Ashburner decides to help himself to as much Ambrosia as he can stomach.
Sept 15 - The pirates switch tactics, and try to lay seige to the colony. Poe and Zappit's fathers are among the raiders. A mortar round dropped in the middle of their burgeoning fortifications convinces them to abandon the siege and charge to the attack. Working their way through the tamed boomalope herd, they lose more of their own to friendly fire, and mortar explosions (Boomalope explosions aren't as big a factor as they could be because it's raining, and they aren't stopping to finish off downed boomalopes). Poe's father is taken down by his own squadmates, and Zappit's father is downed by a mortar, and captured when his compatriots flee, leaving him behind. He shares the prison barracks with Patrthom's father.

Decembruary 1 - The first day of winter is commemerated by the wedding of Dei and Null. The food disappears in a whirlwind of gluttony.
