What are you playing?

I wonder if that has anything to do with the controller configuration support that Steam recently added. Go into Big Picture Mode, then Settings and Controller Settings. Try turning on or off Xbox Configuration Support and/or Generic Gamepad Configuration Support. That could be interfering with the game recognizing your controller, or it could be that enabling it helps it recognize it.

I just remembered that I had trouble with the analog triggers on my MadCatz 360 pad in the original PC release of Psychonauts. Wouldn't recognize them at all, even though the shoulder buttons worked. I had to get very creative with button reassignment in order to play that game. I can't remember if later releases fixed that, or if I'd just moved on to another controller by that point.
So I tried what you suggested. Well, I looked into the Big Picture controller options. Then I saw an option for other controller supports and turned that on.

Now it works PERFECTLY. So thank you. :)

This is a bit more my failing than anything, but it's still something that hampers my enjoyment of games.

Mario Odyssey is amazing. It's a wonderful game. I've beaten it now and now I see there's A TON of post beating Bowser content. My problem is, I really lose drive to do content when I "finish" the main part of a game. I have no desire to keep collecting power moons or explore new areas. I wish this kind of stuff could be accessed before finishing the game.

I'm right there with you.

I guess the "true ending" is at 500 moons, if that helps motivation. I'm at ~300 right now.

I hit a bit of a wall in Divinity: Original Sin 2. The Lone Wolves at the sawmill kicked my ass, the four season totems kicked my ass, and there's this floating lady on a cross that killed my entire party before I could make a move. I'm already playing on the lowest difficulty level, so I can't lower that any further. I could respec, perhaps, but at the moment I'm having trouble seeing how I'm supposed to rebuild my party to overcome an enemy that can one-shot me. And, of course, I could go do other stuff and level up some more and get better gear, and then come back later, which is pretty much what I've actually been doing.

Actually, wait, I managed to take out the Lone Wolves by not venturing too far into the sawmill, so that I could selectively draw their aggro and not have to fight the whole gang all at once. But the other two are still kicking my ass.

That burning witch was one of the very last things we did on the island tbh.

You pretty much have to do the Dwarf secret cave/Mordin quest first. That's what I was complaining about earlier about how linear D:OS2 was despite its pretensions to openness. For most of the first half of that second chapter, you're going to be shoehorned into doing things in a certain order, then leveling up to do the next, and so on. The "good" news is, as long as you do every single side quest along the way that you can, you'll soon outlevel ALL the content quite handily :p

So, for my part, I managed to finish my tactician mode solo playthrough, finally, and naturally I saved it right before the end so I could reload and see all the endings.

Truth be told, all three of them were kinda disappointing. And the more I look at how things ended, plot wise, I can tell there's going to be DLC expansions, and I feel kinda robbed of closure, TBH.

Anyway, the final battle dinged me to level 22, and frankly was pretty trivial because of how overleveled I was by the end.

Maybe someday I'll do an evil playthrough, but I kinda doubt it. I'm ready to move on to other things, now.

Killing Floor 2

Last night, screwing around as a Berserker, I figured out how to parry, finally. It made fighting a fleshpound (the game's toughest non-boss enemy) a whole lot easier.

Normally going toe to toe with a fleshpound, much less one with adds, is a recipe for disaster. But with parrying, I barely lost any health.

I'm still enjoying Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate 3. I've only died a handful of times solo which has been a pleasant surprise. It usually only happens when this one rude big monster calls out for another huge one to join us.

The biggest struggle for me so far has been underwater fighting. Holy crap it's hard. Or maybe I'm just terrible at it. I was stuck on an Urgent Quest for a while and I wasn't dying, but I kept timing out because I wasn't killing it fast enough. It took me a long time to figure out how to do enough damage within the time I had. After that, all of the four star quests have felt pretty easy in comparison.

Multiplayer has been a totally different story though. My son and I have been dying all over the place there. Today was the first time that we have successfully hunted one of the big guys. It was pretty fun!

Underwater fighting is awful. There's a reason Capcom never brought it back after 3.

Seriously!? That's great news. I got copies of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for my son and I for Christmas and that's great news.

I did that early harpoon quest for him because it was evil and he's pretty young so I don't want him to hate the game over something like that.

I'm glad you guys have been enjoying them.:) I'm looking to pick up Monster Hunter World when it releases next year.

So in my top ten games of the year thread, I put Mario Odyssey at number 10 just because it was brand new and I hadn't gotten to sink a lot of time into it.

I gotta say, it's very quickly rising.

I got to 500 moons in Mario, but I don't know if I have the patience for the amount of hair I will tear out trying to get the challenge level done.

Maybe you shouldn't do your best of list when there's two months left in the year :p.[DOUBLEPOST=1510192105,1510192041][/DOUBLEPOST]

Your biggest problem in 4 will be if one of you has mounted the monster and the other attacks it, which will knock off the mounting hunter. Especially online.

Can 3DS players go online on MH4U? In 3U we're limited to local co-op play.

In 4U yeah, you can play with up to a team of four online. I forgot 3 could only do that in the Wii/Wii U versions.

I have no idea how busy the community is nowadays though. It's possible people moved on to Generations. I think 4U is the better game though.

Right, but having time to play those games probably helps determine their quality.
In the list, I noted that Mario Odyssey was at number 10 only because I hadn't yet finished it. It was new, but I'd already put several hours into it, enough I would say to judge it's quality. The note of putting it at number ten was in case it somehow turned to shit in the end.

It hasn't turned to shit.

I thought this was about 2017 games. :awesome:

No, I hear you.

Can I complain about underwater combat again?

Holy crap that lightening lizard is a pain in the ass under water.
I hate the lightning fish more, but yes, every time I fought Lagiacrus, it was "please go on land, please go on land." Once I got Monster Hunter 4U and there were no more underwater battles, I knew I was never going back to 3 :p.
