Coronavirus Thread

All members of the Toronto Raptors and their organization that were in attendance when exposed to the corona virus in Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert have been tested and come back negative. The entire team remains in a two week quarantine and following Health Canada protocols.

Good news is good to share.

Decided having a few pounds of dried beans couldn't hurt. Luckily, no one up here knows what to do with pinto beans, apparently. They were the only kinds of beans left, and there were at least 15-20 lbs of them on the shelf. I picked up 5.
It's funny, I went to get lentils and the dried bean section was stocked no less than normal. I guess that's the difference between Texas cooking and Buffalo cooking.

I went out this morning for a few things. The bread aisle was practically empty except for a perfect column of Sara Lee brand, which was untouched. I'm guessing that was what they had left to stock (I arrived just after they opened) but it looked like no one wanted to touch it.

I'm in Virginia. Which is probably why I'm the only one in this sparsely populated town who seems to know what to do with pinto beans. :D

Went to our local Sam's last night, there was a line of people to the back of the store getting two large packs of toilet paper, we didn't bother, bought our normal supply 2 weeks ago since we were getting ready for my wife's upcoming surgery. Asked a couple of people why they were buying so much toilet paper, the answer was "Because we get our toilet paper from China and we're gonna run out soon!" I just shook my head and told them to look on the package to see where it was made. Canada. Panicy people are stupid. We went to pick up pellets for our pellet grill, got 'em, also found a really nice package of pork ribs that I'm gonna smoke today for dinner.

I know that I'm gonna get screened this coming Thursday for Covid-19, my wife has a pre-op appointment at MD Anderson for her reconstruction surgery a week from Monday. I'll get screened every time I come back into the hospital while we're down there (expecting a week stay). I'm not worried about this stuff, I'm fairly sure that it's in my town, but we're in the middle of MASSIVE POLLEN SEASON and the milder infection is less than most go through with allergies. We're preparing for 3 different outcomes with this surgery, 1 - it's just normal and we're back home in a week, 2 - it's cancelled, this is the worst, she's been waiting for this for 1 1/2 years now, and her preparing for being off work is very stressful, or 3 - Surgery done, but caught in a hospital quarantine and stuck there for 2 weeks.

according to here:
For my household (2 women and one guy) they say 4 rolls a month for the women, and 1 roll a month for me. So 10 rolls a month (rounding up to a nice round figure)--or 120 a year for the three of us. That doesn't sound outside the realm of reason. I usually buy the big costco package of TP 3-4 times per year.

Before the big corona scare hit the US shores, I bought some TP (but not costco, cause I was lazy). We have--20-ish rolls left. So about 60 days worth. I think we're fine.

TP is made in North America. We ain't gonna run out, unless all the TP factory workers die. In that eventuality, we have a lot worse things to worry about than how we're gonna clean our buttholes.

I just told a young friend of mine (late 20's):
When you're my age, you and your family will be huddled around the fire, and you're gonna say "Hey kids, you know those chalkboard slates you use to practice your writing on? We used to have those when I was young. But they were magic! You could just touch them, and a pizza would show up a half hour later!" and the kids will not believe you. And one of them will ask "What's a pizza, grandma?" and you'll just cry.
I'm so mean.

Meanwhile, at the TP warehouse...

I suppose we'll find out soon enough, especially if any of those people have compromised immune systems, are in generally poor physical health, or have some sort of respiratory or other breathing problem.

Idiot sister booked a trip to Mexico like 4 days ago for May.

When Mum tries to suggest leaving the country right now might not be the best idea, she leaves the Family chat.

28 confirmed cases and we just closed our borders. The police raided a 900 people party just the day after the city prohibited "public events"

I cant wait for him to tweet that he's contracted it and then someone to post a pic of the two tweets with the caption "life comes at you fast."

Mother nature does not care if you don't fear it.

Currently watching Womens Olympic wrestling trials. Entire arena is empty, only sound is the athletes and coaches.

Shit, who do you guys think it might be?View attachment 33073
There have been a couple of people, one guy at CPAC had contact with several people, several of them had met with the official from Brazil. This has all been in the news, the blurb you shared is actually worded to try to make it sound like one person, when there are at least two different reported confirmed positive people that have met with them.

I did the smart thing and ordered our groceries online, with substitutions. Surprisingly, a lot of my order was still available, and only one thing was a substitution (Diet Orange Crush for the generic stuff). No, I did not order TP - the website specified they had none in stock.

What they didn't fill from my order:
  • Diet Root Beer (generic; they didn't have the brand stuff either, apparently)
  • Kraft Mac & Cheese (they didn't even have the generic)
  • Frosted Flakes (generic; again - must have been a run on both, though they had the generic Cheerios)
  • Frozen French Bread Pizza (this isn't a huge thing, tbh)
  • Tater Tots (generic again - not surprising)
  • Rice-a-Roni "cups" (The individual serving ones; again not surprising - instant food)
  • M&M Dark Chocolate candies
Wait... WHAT? NO DARK CHOCOLATE M&M'S?????
