I work at a capital one corporate campus, doing cafeteria stuff for them. All the cap 1 people are being told to work from home if they can until further notice.

They did a test of their Network on Monday, to see if they could handle everyone logging in remotely. It was a ghost town at work. We made like...200 bucks maybe? It was wack. If that's how it's going to be moving forward it's going to be hard for my company to justify having all of us there full time.

#5

blotsfan

Whoa. Had NOT heard this.
They announced it during the Mavs-Nuggets game. They kept the game going and it was pretty surreal. Rudy Gobert, a player for the Jazz, tested positive for it, which was the impetus. Other players on the Jazz are apparently sick as well, but haven't been tested yet.

Also, a few days ago, Gobert went to touch every single announcer's microphone as a joke about the virus.

It's not going away. The WHO just declared it a pandemic. Italy has shut down, as in every citizen has been ordered to stay home. The 7th largest economy just turned off. In Canada we are expecting 35 to 70 percent of the population to contract it. Of those that contract it 10 percent will require hospitalization, if that occurs all at once Canada will be overwhelmed like Italy. What terrifies me is that the US government appears to be actually fighting against stopping the virus for purely political reasons. I was shocked to learn today that the outbreak in Seattle was only discovered by the state health officials breaking federal laws and instructions. I fully expect Canada to restrict travel to the US shortly. Economically, global recession or depression seems almost assured.

And now the Trump administration is banning travel to/from a couple dozen European countries for an entire month, starting Friday.

The linked CNN article said:
The ban also does not apply to all of Europe but to nations in the Schengen zone. That includes Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

What this means: [only] Americans and US permanent residents who are in Europe will still be allowed to fly to Europe and be allowed back into the United States during this 30-day period. They will simply be screened upon entry to the United States and face quarantine or restrictions on their movement in the US for 14 days. However, it is not clear whether airlines will still fly the routes if passenger demand from European nationals dries up because of the ban.
He certainly does not appear disappointed about having to do so.

My department just directed us to test our remote setup. They said it's just a precaution, but since our county is the source of the infected person who touched Congress people at the CPAC, there's no telling. Since there's no extensive testing. Because there's a toddler at the helm and the grown-ups want to let him do what he pleases.

Doctors around here have been ordered to write everyone home with any symptoms appearing to be in anyway nose, throat or ear related. Yes, that means everyone with a good cold has to stay at home for a minimum of 7 days.

I'm waiting on my university to tell us all to stay home for two weeks. I think the NBA season and the administration finally making some fucking moves might be the tipping point.

This move wouldn't affect me at all since I'm salaried and I can work remotely with no issues. But there are several people here that can't do that. Security personnel, custodians, and some student-facing employees just can't do their jobs remotely and most are hourly. I'm concerned what happens to them.

#18

HCGLNS

HCGLNS

Two good take aways from Wednesday; the NBA and Tom Hanks. Tragic yes, but for some reason people react more to celebrities getting infected than listen to doctors. And the NBA is a sign that strong leadership does exist in America.

Two terrible take aways. POTUS speech was so bad last night, it had corrections put out before he finishes speaking. The markets saw absoulutely nothing good in what he said or how he said it and tanked overnight. Expect to see trading halted today.

Secondly the American government has classified all talks about the virus. Which will reault in two horrible side effects: they have the ability to hide from the public their terrible decision making and more crucial, it removes the experts from the conversation. Very few if any pathology and viral experts have top secret code word clearance.

Stay safe eveyone.

I am openly wondering what is going to happen on Monday when MPS gets back from spring break. We do not, if you recall, currently have a superintendent (Thanks Dr. EMBEZZLER-Conley), so I have NFC if they might cancel classes.

A coworker has been sitting on 2000 P95 masks for years that he got by virtue of nobody wanting them and them lying around at the end of a construction job. They were just going to get thrown out, so he loaded them up in his truck and put them in storage.

Yesterday he sold them to the county for $10 each.

Nice little windfall there.

Went to Costco. All I wanted was a bag of rice and some powdered milk. We don't drink milk enough to make buying it economical, but we use it often enough that we have to have it, and fresh milk goes bad before we use it up.

Should have gone 2 days ago, before the president's announcement. It was a freaking madhouse.
There were no...zero...none carts. I had to get one from the parking lot.

Inside, it was like a Black Friday event had just happened. There were packages broken open and strewn about the floor. Dozens of abandoned carts with goods inside of them where people just gave up. Lots of Costco employees restocking shelves and bitching about the abandoned product. Every person I saw--every single one--had toilet paper in their cart. Some of them, that's all they were buying. I may or may not have accidentally laughed out loud at some of them.

I'm in a weird place. The company I work for got bought by another company. When I found another job, the parent company counteroffered, and gave me a work contract guaranteeing me a year--but they left me in place at the original job. I took it, because the new job I'd found paid less, and that gave me a year to find something better.

The parent company just went all telework today, but I only found out through the grapevine. So, I wrote my new boss and said "uhm, me too?" Since I technically work for them now, no matter where my butt sits, I think they pretty much had to approve it.

No kidding. I did the major grocery shopping yesterday on my day off. A couple items were out, but nothing out of the ordinary. Being out of blueberry yogurt isn't going to raise too many eyebrows.

Today I stopped on the way home to pick up the few items we forgot yesterday... and the place is a shambles.
No tp or Kleenex.
No frozen vegetables or fruit.
No frozen hamburgers (except the vegan ones and the bison ones that are 13.99 for two).
Most of the Asian section is empty (orange chicken, dim sum, etc)
No rice.
No pasta except for stuff with unrecognizable Italian names and lasagna sheets.
No canned vegetables (corn, carrots, etc)
Almost all the boxes of soup are gone.
Basically if it's something you boil or microwave, it's just gone.
...with one exception. They still had plenty of frozen fish and fish products.

And all of that must've sold out just today. The staff must've been slammed. <galaxyquest>"Those poor people..."</galaxyquest>

I'm not sure if this counts as gloating or tempting fate, but right now I'm incredibly grateful to the government of Taiwan for everything it's done so far. We've had fewer than 50 confirmed cases so far, and not for lack of testing. The government's done pretty much everything right, and the people are following the government's lead and not panicking (much). Sure there are some naysayers, but we just call them commie shills and then ignore them.

There's still every chance that things will get worse and Taiwan will also see a major outbreak, but so far life has gone on more or less as usual, and even if things get worse we're ready for it.

Well, it's PROBABLY because democrats in the house added a billion dollars for abortion funding.
As far as I understand it, it was less a rider of "oh by the way let's set aside $1B specifically to fund abortions while the republicans were not looking because OOOH, LOOK OVER THERE, CORONAVIRUS!!" and instead that they hadn't attached Hyde Amendment verbiage (which bans use of federal funds for abortions), so theoretically if there were extra money not used in the coronavirus amelioration efforts, the language in the bill wouldn't specifically bar funds from being used for non-COVID19 medical purposes (i.e. abortion). The proposed bill itself is here; interestingly the only part I see referencing $1B is to address unemployment issues (all other amounts are in the millions) but the language has likely changed as the bill has been discussed. Apparently, there was considerably greater debate over whether the mandatory paid sick leave would be a temporary or permanent change.

I mean, China has universal healthcare, technically.
Apparently China just sent aid, including an expert medical team and blood reserves, to Italy to assist with the coronavirus outbreak there.

Meanwhile, Trump, who eliminated the federal pandemic response team and never replaced them (in 2018), put a delayed and very porous restriction on travel from Europe, and is overseeing a response in which the Dow Jones has plummeted twice, including immediately after he addressed the nation on the issue, and the US has tested in total the number of people South Korea tests in a single day.

Source is Twitter, so block of salt and all that.

Everyone at work had been wondering why this wasn't asked of us already, but we're glad it's finally happening. We're pretty close to downtown and most of the staff takes public transit to get in.

There's an incredible rush on all supermarkets, with people fighting over toilet paper and so on, while the government has clearly said supermarkets are remaining open, and going in is the worst thing you can do because it'll get you close to a lot of other people. So, I went to the store today. My local grocery store serves 2 small towns of about 10K people total.

Grocery store wasn't completely decimated. But it was pretty close to being wiped out. No bottled water. I didn't bother to check the TP aisle.

Eggs, potatoes, only a few of each. Bacon and pre-cooked bacon, wiped out. About 80% of frozen veggies are gone. Seemed to have plenty of beef (which is what I was there for). Most of the pasta was gone. There were about 10 people clustered around the flour trying to figure out what kind they needed to buy in case they needed to make their own bread. All the 'family' bread was gone: Wonder, Stroehmann's, Sunbeam. All of the 'expensive' bread (such as the Meijer Italian bread my family likes) was untouched.

Basically all of the cheap staples were gone, but things like fresh greens, fruit, etc, were fine. And the expensive versions of staples were still there.

I generally keep about 2 weeks of meats and veggies in the deep freeze. I rotate it out on those weeks I don't feel like grocery shopping. I tend to keep about 2 weeks worth of pasta and sauce, and plenty of frozen pizzas for those days I don't feel like cooking, and there's always a ton of frozen veggies in my deep freeze. So I haven't really felt the need to stock up--I've got enough beans, rice, meat and veg and frozen dinners to last the family a month if I had to.

I suppose that's a good thing--if I were trying to stock up now, I'd be shit outa luck for most things.

The help legislation drafted by democrats is being held up because republicans are worried that some of the language COULD BE misconstrued to overturn the Hyde act. They were the only kinds of beans left, and there were at least 15-20 lbs of them on the shelf. I picked up 5. The store itself is pretty picked over all the 'most desirable' product, but there's plenty of staple veg and pasta if you move to the 2nd tier stuff. The 'ethnic' section had a whole bunch of 'sushi rice' that was untouched. It's just short grain rice. Dunno why people left it alone.

It's funny, I went to get lentils and the dried bean section was stocked no less than normal. I guess that's the difference between Texas cooking and Buffalo cooking.
I'm in Virginia. Which is probably why I'm the only one in this sparsely populated town who seems to know what to do with pinto beans. :D

Went to our local Sam's last night, there was a line of people to the back of the store getting two large packs of toilet paper, we didn't bother, bought our normal supply 2 weeks ago since we were getting ready for my wife's upcoming surgery. Asked a couple of people why they were buying so much toilet paper, the answer was "Because we get our toilet paper from China and we're gonna run out soon!" I just shook my head and told them to look on the package to see where it was made. Canada. Panicy people are stupid. We went to pick up pellets for our pellet grill, got 'em, also found a really nice package of pork ribs that I'm gonna smoke today for dinner.

I know that I'm gonna get screened this coming Thursday for Covid-19, my wife has a pre-op appointment at MD Anderson for her reconstruction surgery a week from Monday. I'll get screened every time I come back into the hospital while we're down there (expecting a week stay). I'm not worried about this stuff, I'm fairly sure that it's in my town, but we're in the middle of MASSIVE POLLEN SEASON and the milder infection is less than most go through with allergies. We're preparing for 3 different outcomes with this surgery, 1 - it's just normal and we're back home in a week, 2 - it's cancelled, this is the worst, she's been waiting for this for 1 1/2 years now, and her preparing for being off work is very stressful, or 3 - Surgery done, but caught in a hospital quarantine and stuck there for 2 weeks.

according to here:
For my household (2 women and one guy) they say 4 rolls a month for the women, and 1 roll a month for me. So 10 rolls a month (rounding up to a nice round figure)--or 120 a year for the three of us. That doesn't sound outside the realm of reason. I usually buy the big costco package of TP 3-4 times per year.

Before the big corona scare hit the US shores, I bought some TP (but not costco, cause I was lazy). We have--20-ish rolls left. So about 60 days worth. I think we're fine.

TP is made in North America. We ain't gonna run out, unless all the TP factory workers die. In that eventuality, we have a lot worse things to worry about than how we're gonna clean our buttholes.

I just told a young friend of mine (late 20's):
When you're my age, you and your family will be huddled around the fire, and you're gonna say "Hey kids, you know those chalkboard slates you use to practice your writing on? We used to have those when I was young. But they were magic! You could just touch them, and a pizza would show up a half hour later!" and the kids will not believe you. And one of them will ask "What's a pizza, grandma?" and you'll just cry.
I'm so mean.

Meanwhile, at the TP warehouse...

I did the smart thing and ordered our groceries online, with substitutions. Surprisingly, a lot of my order was still available, and only one thing was a substitution (Diet Orange Crush for the generic stuff). No, I did not order TP - the website specified they had none in stock.

What they didn't fill from my order:
  • Diet Root Beer (generic; they didn't have the brand stuff either, apparently)
  • Kraft Mac & Cheese (they didn't even have the generic)
  • Frosted Flakes (generic; again - must have been a run on both, though they had the generic Cheerios)
  • Frozen French Bread Pizza (this isn't a huge thing, tbh)
  • Tater Tots (generic again - not surprising)
  • Rice-a-Roni "cups" (The individual serving ones; again not surprising - instant food)
  • M&M Dark Chocolate candies
Wait... WHAT? NO DARK CHOCOLATE M&M'S?????

Went to the local Weis grocery at opening time again. Best way to limit contact--usually only 2-3 people in the store at that time. I have about 10 lbs of flour, but I needed yeast. The store was still destroyed. And, of course, no yeast.

So, I decided to hit the larger town to the south of me and go to Harris Teeter. It's normally 24 hours, but they'd made an announcement yesterday that all 24 hour HTs would be closing at 9 and reopening at 6, to give the store a chance to restock.

Got there an hour after opening. It was amazing! It was like there was no run on groceries at all. They had everything...water, clorox/lysol wipes. Toilet paper. I didn't check for hand sanitizer, and I didn't buy any of those other things, because I didn't need them. But they also had yeast. So I got 2 jars :D

I can't speak for every type of restaurant, but a large amount of Chinese restaurants solely exist on the money they bring in through takeout. There are a ton around here that might only have 3 tables in the place, and the tables are almost always empty, but they're doing more business than the sitdown places around them. I should add that this is pre-Coronavirus, not just recently.

The main worry is customers transmitting to one another: one asymptomatic or still in incubation period, can make 40-50 people sick.
Kitchen staff and delivery personnel should always be wearing hair nets etc anyway, and now obviously should be wearing gloves and practising prefect hygiene. Here in Belgium, for example, cash on delivery is strongly discouraged - please pay once the internet if possible so delivery can be done without interaction.
This should limit spread of infection as much as possible.

An account from an Italian doctor (translated; Reddit).

the epidemiological disaster is taking place. And there are no more surgeons, urologists, orthopedists, we are only doctors who suddenly become part of a single team to face this tsunami that has overwhelmed us.

Cases are multiplying, we arrive at a rate of 15-20 admissions per day all for the same reason. The results of the swabs now come one after the other: positive, positive, positive. Suddenly the E.R. is collapsing.

Reasons for the access always the same: fever and breathing difficulties, fever and cough, respiratory failure. Radiology reports always the same: bilateral interstitial pneumonia, bilateral interstitial pneumonia, bilateral interstitial pneumonia. All to be hospitalized.

Someone already to be intubated and go to intensive care. For others it's too late... Every ventilator becomes like gold: those in operating theatres that have now suspended their non-urgent activity become intensive care places that did not exist before.

The staff is exhausted. I saw the tiredness on faces that didn't know what it was despite the already exhausting workloads they had. I saw a solidarity of all of us, who never failed to go to our internist colleagues to ask "what can I do for you now?"

Doctors who move beds and transfer patients, who administer therapies instead of nurses. Nurses with tears in their eyes because we can't save everyone, and the vital parameters of several patients at the same time reveal an already marked destiny.

There are no more shifts, no more hours. Social life is suspended for us. We no longer see our families for fear of infecting them. Some of us have already become infected despite the protocols.

Some of our colleagues who are infected also have infected relatives and some of their relatives are already struggling between life and death. So be patient, you can't go to the theatre, museums or the gym. Try to have pity on the myriad of old people you could exterminate.

We just try to make ourselves useful. You should do the same: we influence the life and death of a few dozen people. You with yours, many more. Please share this message. We must spread the word to prevent what is happening here from happening all over Italy."

I finish by saying that I really don't understand this war on panic. The only reason I see is mask shortages, but there's no mask on sale anymore. We don't have a lot of studies, but is it panic really worse than neglect and carelessness during an epidemic of this sort?

Last week, my work (call center) put out feelers to anyone who wanted to work from home. I might be able to with some finagling, but it's more likely I'll keep going to the office. I don't really go anywhere aside from work, but on the other hand, call centers are kind of an incubator for the flu and other stuff (the flu went through the whole center last month).

While I'm not particularly concerned about catching Covid-19 myself (I'm relatively young and healthy with no autoimmune issues), I'm concerned about catching it for the sake of my parents, especially my father. Mom is in her early 70s, but active as hell. Dad is in his mid-80s, though, and showing his age. He doesn't take very good care of himself and his health has been diminishing over the years. I don't think we'll have him for many more years as it is, but I'm especially concerned with him catching this, whether it's from me or somewhere else.

I think I'll check with my supervisor tomorrow about working from home. At least I'm fortunate to have that kind of position. Personally, while I know some people like the idea of working from home, I don't. For the sake of my mental health, it helps get me out of the house and socialize with people in person. But, given everything going on, it might be for the best right now.

From personal experience, I can say that schools and call centers are basically giant incubators. From the short time I worked in schools for my practicum, I think I got pink eye twice.

Well, yes, up to a point. I get to disinfect the bathroom twice daily, and clean all common areas, every day, and I'm not allowed to sleep in one bed (or even one bedroom) with my gf, so that kind of puts a damper on things, but I am indeed a lucky one who us quarantined without any serious problems.

Yeah I socially distanced for the weekend and it was pretty nice. I don't think I'd mind a week of being a shut-in.

That being said, I'm closing on a house in literally less than 2 weeks so I'd much rather be quarantined there than my current apartment which is significantly smaller.

Our boss has decided we work far enough apart that it's not a concern. More specifically it's not HIS concern because he's not even here. Yeah, all the students are out, all the teachers are out. Admins are in though. For me, this is good because if I can get all of the little stuff that has been jumbling up my tickets for a while cleared, which I mostly have done today already, then the next couple of weeks will consist mostly of me sitting in my office, working the occasional issue while I watch youtube or whatever. Almost self-quarantining while at work.

I've been more productive today than I have been for weeks, simply because there are fewer people here calling me down to see about one thing or another.

Here too. I had to give a training this morning at a customer site. Everyone in attendance was 55+. They came in making jokes about social distancing and making a show of sitting as far apart from each other as possible, and rolling their eyes and "whatever"ing. "It'll never get here."

Me: "Actually, over the weekend, (the nearest hospital) Baylor Scott and White confirmed 2 cases. It's here."

Them: "Well, we won't get it."

Me: "You will. I will. We all will. It's long past the point of not getting it. They just don't want everybody to get it all at once so that those who get sent to the hospital because of it don't overwhelm the health care system. Everybody will still get it, just not all at the same time, and for most people it won't be any more serious than regular flu. Those who will have it worst though are the immunocompromised and those over 60."

Them: (Looking at each other uneasily)

Me: "Anyway, hello all! My name is (GasBandit) and I'm a programmer with (my company), and I'm here to show you how to use your new conference room teleconferencing equipment..."

Can someone enlighten me on the wisdom of ordering in right now? I thought we were concerned about restaurant staff going in and carrying or being sick. They have to make the food. Someone has to package it, deliver it. Why is this considered still okay?

I genuinely want to know because I've been dying for the spicy Korean chicken place that opened recently and only got to order it once before all this started.
Personally I have stopped getting food that I can't (or don't enjoy) eat after nuking it in the microwave. Wash my hands after handling the container, just in case, and then reheat the food before eating. So that means I wont be getting hamburgers or subs for a while. But still might get chinese food, pizza or tacos as I like those just fine after reheating them. I just don't want to risk eating room temperature buns, or whatever, that's been breathed on all day.

After listening to the American update, it's pretty clear that the USA is looking to score points by closing the border first. So we may have to suck it up and let the wookie win.

And I don't think they can really mandate work from home without enforcement. And developing a work from enforcement vehicle seems like a waste of resources right now.

Mine works fine, I can angrily berate translators and clients from home if needs be.

The reason WV had no "reported cases" as of Monday morning is because the state lab had only tested 41 (FORTY ONE!) people out of a population of 1.8 million, and only reporting results that came through *their* facility. So the actual numbers are probably much higher.

Yesterday the governor of Texas cancelled the STAAR testing this year, too.

Working from home tomorrow. I worry they'll keep us on edge each day by only permitting it one day at a time.

City of Mesa is under an emergency declaration. All city facilities (museums, art centers, libraries, offices) are closed.

I haven't heard about what I'm supposed to do tomorrow, but I suspect I'll find out in short order.

Orange Thing tries to brag about WV having no confirmed cases. That didn't age well.

It's here.

Spoilered for Length

I've talked here before about my mother's side of the family, more specifically her siblings and some of their spouses, being your typical American, white, privileged out-of-touch boomers, ranging from "blissfully ignorant" to "slobbering at the teat of Fox News". And while they are all on Facebook with each other, they still manage to have group text conversations on the semi-regular, usually started by the Fox sycophant. None of them really need to be texted, but most puzzling of all is somehow I've gotten included on them, which makes no sense because a)I'm not in their peer group, b)I never respond to them, and c)I have made no secret that I absolutely do not agree with them politically, like, ever. And I've even blocked a couple of numbers so I don't have to see this circle-jerk of stupidity, but somehow I still catch parts from time-to-time, despite my efforts not to.

About a week and 1/2 ago they were bitching and moaning (from the parts I could see) about people "over-reacting" to the coronavirus, and how annoyed they were that they have to cancel vacation plans "over nothing". (Right here, I'm going to make a side note that my mother is probably the most "woke" of her siblings, but usually tries to keep the peace, so her only comment on the whole thing was that we should feel sorry for the people in China and Italy who are having it far worse. That fell on deaf ears.) And lo and behold, as I talking to my mother on the phone tonight, I find out that one of said nay-sayers' kid just came back from studying abroad AND GUESS WHO HAS ALL THE SIGNS OF CORONAVIRUS??? And is being kept at her grandparents house by herself (the grandparents are away in their winter home), as her parents drop off food for her and are trying to find a place to get her tested? Oh, and to keep this under my hat because they don't want to tell the family yet. GEE, I WONDER WHY. IT'S NOT SO FUNNY NOW, IS IT, FAMILY OF MINE??? (I also want to note that I feel immensely bad for my cousin, who has always been a really sweet girl and does not deserve this at all.)

I'm not taking any joy in this, I'm just so damn frustrated that they can be so myopic and ignorant so much of the time.

Me: It's 10:30. I'm hungry. Maybe I should go get a burger.

Also me: I'd have to put on pants, so no.

Social distancing since 1968.

Social distancing since 1968.
Today, I had the day off with nothing pressing to do.
It is now 12:06am the following day.
I can now officially say that I managed to go the entire day without ever donning pants.
Life is good.

I’ve been wearing leggings since we were instructed to telework. It’s my equivalent since most people don’t consider them pants :)

And working much longer hours because I’m an idiot and feel responsible for other people’s messes.

Sadly, may I suggest this thread get pinned for the time being?

Personal note: I have to be "available to work" during my regular work hours, but I'm to stay home until further notice.

They'd just take it out of our bonus checks in July.

After listening to the American update, it's pretty clear that the USA is looking to score points by closing the border first. So we may have to suck it up and let the wookie win.

And I don't think they can really mandate work from home without enforcement. And developing a work from enforcement vehicle seems like a waste of resources right now.

Expect actual information from Trudeau's address this afternoon.

A site with a good breakdown of the infection numbers: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-cases/

I honestly have no interest in looking at the numbers. It's out there, we're all going to get it, whether we know we got it or not, and I'm not going to worry about it. Especially because the lag in testing is going to make the numbers look way worse. I'm obviously taking precautions, but I don't need the added stress of watching infection numbers rise.

True. Have those in charge forced to work in hospitals attending to the sick?

My call center is preparing MANY agents, myself included, to work from home. There are boxes at almost every desk to ship our computers and monitors.

I wish I could build a fort with them. Or dress everyone up as robots and have box robot battles.

It's also INSANELY busy today. Many snowbirds coming home early. New install appointments being cancelled. Customers with overdue bills making payment arrangements. Adding new TV channels. Downgrading services to save money. It's crazy.

It was near dead the last few weeks. Hours were cut for many employees. HR giving people the option to go home early, etc. Now it's overtime city and call volume is insane.

I feel VERY lucky and fortunate to be where I'm working right now. I know a lot of people as struggling and don't have the opportunity to work from home. My heart goes out to everyone struggling right now.
