[TV] The What Animation Are You Watching Thread 2!: The Sequel!

Ducktales (2017) Double O Duck in You Only Crash Twice

This season's been kind of killer so far. This one keeps up the steam: a spy thriller inspired equally by James Bond and Kingsmen, with Dewey and Launchpad (accidentally) defeating a plot by Steelbeak and F.O.W.L.

As well as the origin of the Rescue Rangers in this universe: victims of F.O.W.L.'s intelligence ray experiments. They play a fairly large part in everything, all things considered.

Going from episode blurbs online, in future episodes we're getting...

- Mermaids!
- More Cabelleros!
- Japan!
- Professional Wrestling!

Should be a good season!

Animaniacs revival to reunite the original voice cast, targeting Fall 2020 premiere

Back in 2017 it was announced that Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment was working on a revival of the beloved 90s cartoon series Animaniacs, which subsequently received a two-season order from Hulu.
...original voice actors Rob Paulse, Jess Harnell and Tress MacNeille are set to return as Yakko, Wakko and Dot, while Pinky and the Brain will also be back to continue their quest to take over the world. (Flickering Myth)

Ducktales (2017) and the Lost Harp of Mervana

I agree with AshburnerX that this season has been pretty epic so far. Overall the series is stellar in-fact. Unfortunately this episode felt like one of the weaker ones for the series overall. It features another magical treasure from the 1986 series with a modern take. No cross-over characters this episode.
No great jokes, meh-plot, and I felt it missed some opportunities with the harp.
Also,
The song wasn't very clear for me and I had to re-watch a few times trying to make out some of the lyrics. In the end it was just the rest of the episode that filled in the context for me where the song failed. I have also suspected that Beakley has a secret she is not telling Webby. My guess is that she is not actually Webby's grandmother and she has been hiding/protecting Webby from something sinister. Hopefully the revelation that Beakley is hiding something will get resolved this season.

Ducktales (2017) Louie's Eleven

To get the Three Caballeros to play at the party of the year Louie concocts the ultimate scheme. First episode appearance of Daisy Duck.

Great episode and reminds me why I love the reboot's version of Donald so much.

Donald is honest and humble in the reboot more than he's ever been in any other iteration of him (probably because those were always Mickey's traits). He still has a temper, but most of the time it comes out in the defense of the people he cares about (Even explained in a previous episode that it's the hatred that no one understands him but redirected as a tool to keep the boys safe). When Daisy shows an interest in him its not because he was trying to pretend to be someone else or manipulate her, she just actually really likes him. In fact when she asks him what is going on he straight up tells her the entire scheme. The voice that Daisy hears Donald singing in is both touching and hilarious. Also great is when Louie gets a nice punch to his ego.

Alternative Title: Louie Duck, You Son of a Bitch, I'm In.

And when it gets cancelled there, it'll move to HBO, then move to Hulu, then BACK to Netflix, and then finally evolve beyond ALL comprehension!

Heh, but nah I hope it has a good home there.

It was a different time, but playing on CN did revive Family Guy and Futurama, so who knows.

Rick and Morty: Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri
I absolutely did not expect that plot point to be brought up again so quickly.
Great episode though. Did not feel like the season finale... but that's it. No more for like... a bajillion years.

Yeah, it was a good episode (and a season of good episodes) but you are right, it absolutely didn't feel like a season finale... so much so that until I read your post I didn't realize the season was over :(

Yeah this was a good season, BUT a weird one compared to season 3, season 3 was building up to its finale, where as this season was a bunch of wild and crazy stories, with a finale that's all "HEY-awesome continuity and character growth!"

Like, I feel that was the POINT of course, as in the season 4 premiere they talk about going with the flow and planning things out, but it was the media equivalent of going around wild rapids and then hitting a fast break in the best way possible.

Adventure Time Distant Lands BMO

A fun little special and good start out to the mini-series. And the ending-
-where its revealed that ALL that happened before BMO met Finn and Jake for the first time...just...YES. That is how you prequel.

Harley Quinn Season 2 Finale.
Honestly I'm a little disappointed that Harley and Ivy get together. They aren't a bad couple or anything but it 1) feels forced and 2) I just loved Ivy and Kiteman better as a couple.
They did at least give Kiteman the opportunity to be the mature one in the room. He admitted he could tell Ivy wasn't committed, stood up for himself without demeaning his love for Ivy, and walked (glided) away.

Mature self-respect? Hell yeah.

Another season of Harley Quinn complete, and much like the previous season, I felt the final episode was a little on the weak side, but overall still a really good show. Lots of fun.

Harley Quinn

I will at least say in terms of love triangles, the Ivy/Kiteman/Harley one is one of the better written given Ivy and Kiteman had like...ACTUAL on screen chemistry so there was real conflict. I just hope Kiteman doesn't become an antagonist next season, I legit like his character in this.

Mixtapes for Kipo seasons 1 and 2:

I won't lie. I would love to hear a cover of Heroes on Fire that's not the character sung karaoke version of it.
Season 2 was wonderful. Season 1 was better, but it's hard to top that. Season 2 explained a lot more but that wasn't necessarily to its benefit. But overall I have nothing really negative to say. I just hope they keep the series going.
