The Tech Random Crap Thread

Got the Zune. @Celt Z would be proud. But then again, I liked my zune a lot too before it got stolen.

the ones I didn't get
  • Altair
  • The scientific calculator
  • Sensorama
  • Talkboy
  • Vcr
  • Camera
  • The one that looks like an abacus
  • The desk calculator
  • Televisor

So I finally ordered a second monitor, and my husband was wondering why I was planning to put it on the left instead of the right when it's going to be better than my old one. Which of course spawned a whole debate about which side the main monitor should go on, and he realized that he has them placed differently at work than he does at home. So what is your opinion on main vs. secondary/tertiary monitors?

Have two currently and the main goes directly infront with the secondary to the right of that.

Aim is to get a third eventually that will then go on the left.

Main monitor left, second on the right and crappy tablet screen lower and middle.

Stuffed Pichu wedged between the two large monitors.

Work set up :)

There are times when I think that the sole reason for the existence of video games is simply to keep manufacturers of video cards in business.

I've often heard (and said) that the video game industry is to computers what the F1 racing industry is to cars. The hardware involved is way beyond anything we really need for actual work purposes, but corporations will spend billions to flex nuts on other corporations to have the best performance there.

But it noted that one online reviewer who appeared to have got locked in due to an unrelated bug posted that he had been left with "a bad scar that took nearly a month of recovery".
:Leyla:

Just how many bugs ARE there in this device?

Also, if I'm going to stick my junk into anything made in China, it's going to be (insert name of famous Chinese celebrity here).

I downloaded/installed Malwarebytes based on suggestions here. Thank you for that.

To those of you that use it, do you run the free or paid version?

I've always run the free version, but I'm an experienced computer user so I mainly use it as a goalie rather than a defenseman.

Windows Defender is usually enough realtime protection. Malwarebytes free is good for cleanup.

But if it helps your peace of mind, I'd have a hard time arguing against ponying up for the paid version. It IS good.

I guess I'm just a complete and utterly irredeemable monster. I actually cracked winzip and winrar.

Though, 7zip has made both obsolete now and is free, so...
