Florida police raid home of former state Covid-19 data scientist

"Florida police raided the home of a former state coronavirus data scientist on Monday, escalating a feud between the state government and a data expert who has accused officials of trying to cover up the extent of the pandemic.

"The Florida Department of Law Enforcement executed a search warrant Monday morning at the home of data scientist Rebekah Jones, who was fired by the state Department of Health in May. The agency is investigating whether Jones accessed a state government messaging system without authorization to urge employees to speak out about coronavirus deaths, according to an affidavit by an agent working on the case."

Fascism.

It looks like Trump might try to executive order drug companies into cancelling contracts with other countries because he didn't see the need to order more of the vaccine in the first place. Maybe. No one knows.

According to the police statement, she refused to answer the door and hung up on them when they called. I am NOT saying the police are in the right here or that the warrant was appropriate, etc. But she is definitely playing up the victim card in her story, at least a little bit.

Yeah I don't care in the least that she was rude to the gestapo here or that she plays up having her home raided on trumped up charges.

Yeah, I have to agree here: they treated this like a drug raid and would have killed her given half the chance. You owe nothing to the state when they are interfering with your ability to distribute necessary information to the public at large. This is -why- we have whistle-blower laws.

Are we 100% sure this is the case? There's a well-documented history of cops changing the facts to make themselves look blameless.

What? Even in Florida?

The best I can tell, she was specifically targeted with the warrant, and her devices seized, under suspicion of the crime of sending a single text to ~1800 people using gvt systems because either she is the one suspected of sending this text, or she is in possession of evidence which may identify the person who did. That's it. That's the whole crime. Someone "hacked" into an account whose username and password are shared by "many people from several agencies" and they think she (or someone she knows) is the one who did it.

Exactly why I prefaced it with "According to..."

That is my understanding as well. It seems a bit trumped up to me.

Well, our government finally called a total shutdown, weeks and weeks and weeks after all medical professionals were pleading with them to do so. Christmas is turbo cancelled. Our hospitals are at the breaking point.

Bars and Casinos and such will be forced to shut down to indoor use in.....4 days.

Dez Bryant was on the sidelines of the Baltimore/Dallas game. Talking to the Dallas players because he used to be on the team. Going through his warmups, etc. They called him into the locker room because his test yesterday was "inconclusive". So they tested him again. Positive. Just fucking great.

The NFL does not give two shits about Covid or protecting players or their families.

Took the kid on Wed to get (more of) his shots. They have moved to a 15min in->out kind of model for this sort of thing. We go in, and we're the only two people there besides the staff. We get asked the usual coronavirus questions, and take our seats (at a respectful distance from one another). About the time for us to go in, the next pair of people arrives, a middle-aged dad and his daughter. They get through their screening questions and they're just going to sit down when the dad's phone rings. It's his doctor, calling to inform him that he has tested positive. "Well, now I'm going to have to change my answer to those questions," he tells the people behind the desk as he and his daughter abruptly prepare to leave, presumably to go quarantine. "I don't get it. I feel fine, like I could run five miles."

Here's hoping it stays that way, buddy.
(yes, they were wearing masks)

Honestly, that’s how we felt. No fever or anything that would have triggered a flag with those questions. It felt exactly like allergies, but with being a little extra tired.
And we’re pretty sure my wife got it from going to the doctors herself for something completely unrelated.

Congressturd Devin Nunes has tested positive for COVID-19.

Good.

Moo, you traitorous motherfucker.

(He's the asshole suing a fictional twitter cow.)
