You just completely destroyed a childhood memory, holy shit. I had no idea until you said something. I even had to go look it up.Because it was a favorite of childhood and if we never remake it, we can all quietly forget about the brownface in the sequel.
Probably because of Short Circuit 2, because while the first one was silly, there was still the serious question in there about "What would happen if a weapon discovered it had been created to kill?" The second movie was more about the silly, less about the dilemma.I wonder why Short Circuit hasn't gotten a reboot.
Yeah, I assume because they couldn't get Guttenberg to sign back on.It was the same guy as in the first movie, wasn't it?
Movies yes, Main series no, Raven YesTake the first Highlander film, combine it with the best parts of the show, and rake in the cash. Ignore all other films/series in the franchise.
Raven was pure trash, so fuck no.Movies yes, Main series no, Raven Yes
Yes is the stuff that needed to go. As in ignore them.Raven was pure trash, so fuck no.
So they should cast Scott Bakula?Would it kill them to cast an actual Scot in the title roll time around? I mean, Henry Cavill's pretty and all, and has some Scottish ancestry on his mom's side, but gimme a real Scot. It's not like there's a shortage of them in acting.
or a lady! a multicultural Scottish lady!Would it kill them to cast an actual Scot in the title roll time around? I mean, Henry Cavill's pretty and all, and has some Scottish ancestry on his mom's side, but gimme a real Scot. It's not like there's a shortage of them in acting.
Goddammit, now I only want Michelle Gomez as the new Highlander.Michelle Gomez is busy. So's David Tenant.
Is Erin Kellyman half-Scottish or half-Irish?or a lady! a multicultural Scottish lady!
She's from Glasgow though. She's a Lowlander! That'd be like casting @GasBandit as "The New Yorker". Yes he's American, but he's the wrong type of American.Goddammit, now I only want Michelle Gomez as the new Highlander.
EY! YO! I'M MOSEYIN' HERE!She's from Glasgow though. She's a Lowlander! That'd be like casting @GasBandit as "The New Yorker". Yes he's American, but he's the wrong type of American.
Irish.Is Erin Kellyman half-Scottish or half-Irish?
Karen Gillan as McCloud and Cavill as the Kurgan? One thing is Cavill is 6'1, who the hell are they going to get to be the Kurgan?
What a New Yorker may look like. She's from Glasgow though. She's a Lowlander! That'd be like casting @GasBandit as "The New Yorker". Yes he's American, but he's the wrong type of American.
Kurgan: "It is better to burn out than to fade away!"So they should cast Scott Bakula?
Gwendoline Christie? One thing is Cavill is 6'1, who the hell are they going to get to be the Kurgan?
I didn't see the script, but I saw an article where the CW said it was "too campy", and honestly, the only way I can see this working at all is if it's full on Batman '66 levels of camp.I am really really really really REALLY hoping that the Powerpuff Girls pilot gotta re-doing because it just not working instead of...because the leaked script was ACTUALLY true. Just...just SO bad.
Are you talking about the one where they say stuff like "it's time to moveon.org" because that was pretty clearly a joke.I am really really really really REALLY hoping that the Powerpuff Girls pilot gotta re-doing because it just not working instead of...because the leaked script was ACTUALLY true. Based on what I’ve seen, the CW should have said it was too cheesy, not campy. Something that is campy is also in on the joke. The few bits I’ve heard or seen about the pilot had bad writing and cheesy characterizations, but it was obviously taking itself seriously.I didn't see the script, but I saw an article where the CW said it was "too campy", and honestly, the only way I can see this working at all is if it's full on Batman '66 levels of camp.
Yeah, the show's best character was a monkey who gave speeches in the third person. That's really not going to work. This could be amazing if they just lean way into being in on the joke, especially on the CW, where everything is a soap opera. To make a self-aware parody of their bread and butter? That would be epic.Based on what I’ve seen, the CW should have said it was too cheesy, not campy. Something that is campy is also in on the joke.
