The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

So let's see.
-Biked about 50 km total today. (from Dartmouth to my yoga rock and back)
-Hiked for about 30 minutes.
-Did 10 minutes of yoga this morning and another 20 minutes at my yoga rock
-And swam for a short bit in the lake.

Let's put it this way: on average I burn about 3,000 calories a day (according to my Fitbit). Today, I've burned 6,000 and the day isn't even over yet. That's obviously not an exact science, but you get the idea.

I'm completely exhausted.
Nothing is better than sleep when you're genuinely exhausted (as opposed to, like, exhaustion from stress, depression etc). I hope you have a sweet rest tonight!

Back in January (I think, it might have been February) I applied for four different academic grants through my denomination's "foundation" arm.

The results came in today.

I got two of them! I expected none, or at best, one!

Yay money!!!
Human monies?

So, I went to Pride today in downtown Tyler.
I was kind of nervous so I wore regular ol' clothes. After about an hour, I said "what the hell" came home, put on my crochet booty shorts, a pride shirt, my bi-pride earring and grabbed my tinwhistles for open mic. Tyler's small, so downtown's only like 11 minutes from the apartment.

So, I get back, sign up for open mic, and then almost immediately get bumped up early because someone who was scheduled had bailed. So there I was in the middle of Tyler square, playing my tinwhistle and putting a ton of attention directly on me (which most people may not know, but makes me intensely uncomfortable. I'm super shy). I got lots of positive feedback, lotta folks commented on and loved the shorts, and I made a couple of new friends. Sometimes, you just not gotta puss out :D

This is the first time I've ever really been open and out in public, and I'm so glad I did.

Oh, and by the way, crochet lets the wind right through it, so most of the time, I felt like I was walking around with my dick out. heh.

Treated my first patients today as a licensed doctor. Had to get use to patients and and staff referring to me as "Dr." Had a patient request a survey form so they could leave me a rave review. They said no doc before me had bothered to explain the process for their denture treatment and they felt they were listened to for the first time since they've been coming to that dental office. Not bad for a first day!

This is a McCain Deep'n Delicious double chocolate cake. It has a cardboard label that fits over a plastic lid that seals with a foil bottom. They are an awesome tasty treat that is stored and served from the freezer. I got @Squidleybits one of these cakes a few days ago, and when she went to eat it last night, found that our son had eaten all the cake hidden by the cardboard label :)
