There was a massive purge of journalists tonight. The common denominator seems to be they all checked with the local police that Musk claimed to have contacted over an incident. Surprise, surprise, Musk was lying.
The other common denominator is that they all pushed back on Musk’s new excuses for banning the ElonJet account. Either way, he’s being exactly the kind of petulant man-child we all knew him to be before buying Twitter.

Twitter is now marking all links to Mastodon as unsafe, and banning a lot of accounts for either promoting Mastodon, covering leftist topics, or criticizing Twitter / Musk.

What I don't understand....Well, I do, but I think it's terrible - is the "lots of words, no actions" approach from big media and "the left".
Twitter is NOT something public and special. There's no difference between something posted on Mastodon, Twitter, Gab, Truth Social, whatever.
So why is it that journalists are all still active on Twitter; why is it every fart on Twitter gets media coverage, and why is it that pretty much every major news website has twitter links,twitter embeds, etc etc right on their front page? There's no CNN Truth Social link on their page, is there? Right.
Just....cut the ties, report based on press releases, and consider everything else "unverifiable". Blue ticks can be bought, Twitter cannot be trusted to verify ownership of an account or login info, so if @presidentBiden tweets something, you can't actually say it's Biden doing the tweeting. Start ignoring it and it'll die, or Elon will crawl back. Either way, it's a win.
But all all of these big journalists seem to want to do is be allowed back into Elon's playground, instead of considering how "major communication now runs almost exclusively through one guy's site and that's unhealthy" is more important.
Just like so many other things (there were human rights issues with Qatar WC?), it just passes by, and in a few weeks it's back to the new normal, a little worse than the old normal, carry on....

No surprise. I don't trust any billionaire who claims to give to charity. Especially after Adam Conover discussed this.
Ehhh. Can't judge this instance, but there is a very big gulf between "I'll make my own pet charity foundation for my chosen issue and spend my money there instead of giving it to an already-massive charity" (say, the Gates foundation) and "I'll make my own pet charity foundation for tax reasons and put my money there to reimburse it all to myself whenever I feel like it" (the Trump foundation).
I mean, the odds of Elon using his charity for anything approaching actual good for a large number of actual people in need is small, but still.
