One of the perks of my job is to spend an hour interviewing one on one a fair number of high-profile athletes...for Canada anyways. I've done captains of NHL teams, some of the most famous curlers in the world (that don't look like me), and this morning an NFL quarterback. It's fun, but it's also really demystifying. They're just regular Joes and Janes. I do my best to set their minds at ease, but very few of them aren't actually nervous going into the interview, particularly if I'm not asking them specific questions about the game they just played or the sport in general. If I can get a good laugh out of them, that helps a lot.

Hmm, I may have overestimated how warm it is. Should've at least worn a jacket for the bike ride into work. Brrrr!

Grandmother's funeral went well. All the adults behaved themselves. That should be under Epic Win, actually. Got a good ol Okie tornado just NE of us as well. Yee haw.
It was cold out!
We live so far apart, for being on the same continent. It’s was 32°C here today, humidity around 75%.
My lil veg garden is doing very well. We have two kinds of lettuce, which have yielded about 3 family-sized salads a week, arugula, bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, cilantro, jalapeños, and strawberry.
The zucchini is making fruit right now and should be able to harvest by the weekend.
I am very happy with the results. I will post some pics when I get a chance.

I made four mobile phone sales today and wound up at the top of today's list of employees for mobile sales (I'm in Billing and even beat out every Sales team member).
That's about $50 commission alone on a future paycheque, in addition to whatever other commission I get for this month.
It's not a LOT in the long run, but it's a good sale day for me and it'll make my manager happy.
I think this further cements my chances of winning another award later this year.

I made a minor financial decision that I'm a little proud of.
I bought some groceries at Sobeys the other day. The store has a small rack for DVDs and Blu-rays. There's rarely anything worth getting, but I've spotted the odd gem.
On an impulse buy, I bought the first and second seasons of Krypton on DVD. Never seen it, but I've been curious to see it. They were $20 each.
And as they sat on my coffee table, unopened, the more I regretted it. I figured I could have just as easily "legally obtained" the show.
So, I returned them and got about $45 put back on my Visa. It's not much in the long run, but where I'm trying to pay off debt, I'm glad I did it.

Had time this weekend to get an old Stanley no. 5 iron razor sharp and set up for work. It cuts so nicely now.

That's awesome! I'm waiting for new frog screws for mine, the ones it currently has are too short and were only holding by a thread. Unfortunately they are a odd size (12/20) finding 20 tpi screws is hard
Where are you sourcing the screws? Do the modern Stanley planes use and different thread count?
I am a hobbyist at best and don't know ton about these tools. Slowly working up my knowledge.

I dabble in woodworking. I'm making a second electric guitar from scratch (except the fretboard with slots pre cut) right now and my plane fell apart because the screws gave.
This is gonna sound weird but it's incredible the amount of stuff I can do now. I've lived with itchy skin under my beard for like 10 years. Why? Why did I not just get some argan oil and boar's hair brush and take care of myself?

That's a goal for me too! What type ?tele? That seems the most approachable. What woods are you using? And you are going to install the fret wire and radius and level them? Are you using a template for layout? Sorry for all the questions!
That dream is a bit further down the road, but I am eager to try it.

Thinline tele, my neighbor gave me a massive piece of mahogany I'm using for the back and I bought a piece of book-matched maple burl for the top.
I traced my tele for the shape and am just measuring for pickup placement and layout.
Fretwork I find tedious but it needs to be done as I bought a pre-slotted fretboard from stewmac and a roasted maple neck blank.
It's going to be for my Dad's birthday next year as he is turning 65. I'm honestly enjoying building guitars more than playing right now.

I just have some water based clear from Michaels. It's worked well for my first guitar.

I will be attending University starting Oktober. Pretty big step for me, since i just turned 39.
Pictures never do it scale, but that waterfall is like 30 meters tall. And shouldn't be a trickle. Or always surrounded with dead woods. The fires came back this year and torched what was left on that side of the river.
That's Alexandra Falls of my childhood. That picture was even taken from the old deck (Before it was burned and replaced with the current shittier one). I remember the last time I was there with my dad, he pointed to where the falls were when he first arrived in the NWT when he was 17. It was an impressive amount, like tens of meters. I believe him too, he had a brain like a steel trap when it came to figures and facts. Legendarily good bar trivia man that owned the scene in the NWT.
Anyways, I'm home now and feeling better. My first day back and finally having a full night's sleep in my bed (not by myself) has been like daybreak after the long night that was the last two weeks. Now the real work begins of sorting through the paperwork. Thankfully with help.
