What are you playing?

Psychonauts

Or at least nine tenths of it, because I can't fucking finish the Meat Circus level. There's a part with this netting you have to jump across, but it's on a curve, so it's impossible to figure out how to properly jump. Worse, the double jump only works once in a while.

Fuck it. I give up.
that final level is notoriously difficult, im sorry you had to give up literally right before the final boss. I am a master platformer, I had a lot of trouble!

I know that exact jump. I usually have to do it dozens of times, if not more.

The funny thing is, I've beaten it before...on PC, with an Xbox controller.

I bought it dirt cheap on PS5 and been re-playing it. For whatever reason, I just can't make the jumps in that net area at all. It's just been an exercise in frustration.

I know the PC version got a balance patch at some point that made the Meat Circus easier. I wonder if the PS5 version is emulating the original PS2 version, one that never nerfed the Meat Circus.

Ohhhhh, maybe! The PS2 logo appears when i first load up the game. I assumed they were both the same version.

that would explain a ton, honestly. I also beat it on pc, both before and after that patch, I think at least, I remember it being easier when i played it again to get ready for 2.+

EDIT:
  • For the Steam, Xbox Live, and PSN releases, the level was slightly edited to decrease its difficulty, and more frequent checkpoints were added.
  • That said, while this update was meant to increase Oly's health in the escort section, it only does so for the first part, and his health resets to its original values when he takes off for the second time.

Marvel Rivals

It was free to play, so I thought I'd take it for a spin. In the past, I'd briefly tried a similar game, Overwatch, but never made it past the tutorial out of boredom.

Here, I at least played a live game, as a support class character with Rocket Raccoon. I find I enjoy playing support classes or healers the most in online games because I'm a lousy shot and not aggressive enough to keep up with seasoned players. So playing support means I just pile on the heals and buffs to my teammates, following along like a lost puppy. My team won in this case. I got a few kills in, got killed several times but I don't know what my final ranking was.

It's neat, but games like this just aren't my cup of tea.

Maybe I'll give it another shot whenever they bring in my main man, Daredevil.

Psychonauts (Steam)

Out of curiosity, I re-installed Psychonauts on my PC to see if there was a difference with the Meat Circus.

There definitely was. For one, the camera stays fixed, which somehow helped with that net area. I also noticed the boss didn't bombard you when you were trying to jump up onto some cables before that area. which was also a source of frustration. But whatever other changes they made, I was able to get through that part with absolutely little frustrations by comparison. I got to the final part of the level no problem.

So yeah, I think you're right @figmentPez and @Bones. The version I played on PS5 must be an emulated PS2 copy.

You know, if you are playing Path of Exile 2 and have a character in the Texas server cluster, you can join us...

JOOOOIIIN UUUUUUS!
You don't have to have a character dedicated to that cluster, you just select texas when you log in. But yes, PoE2 is very good.

I'm not very far, I just did Draven and his Consort before that.

Draven I had no trouble with, the consort bone prison was not as sexy as the name lead me to believe and I kept getting stuck in it before my stupid ass realized I could break it. Wasn't too bad after that.

I assume I have a world of hurt incoming though.

Draven as a summoner witch is hell on earth. He doesn't summon any adds so there's no corpses to make more bone constructs, and his many many aoe attacks just obliterate skeletons the moment they revive.

The final boss of Act 1 has like 3 phases. One of them he surrounds all but a very small space of the arena with a cloud of cold mist that will almost instantly freeze you and damage you to death. Meanwhile werewolves keep coming out of the cloud to attack you while he mocks you and occasionally runs through and hits you without warning. The third time he restricts the battlefield I have been unable to dodge past the werewolves due to being slowed and fatigued from rolling so much. So they push me into the cloud and kill me. Each time the boss was almost dead.

So now I'm running back through things trying to get levels and a new build. I really need a frost charm for cold resist but I've got a fire one and haven't seen a cold resist since.

Hey, I just got there, beat the boss first try. Luckily I had a charm that prevented me from being slowed.

Act 2 is... different.
