Games on SALE!

This isn't a sale, but Master of Orion 1 & 2 are now available at GOG, in a bundle for $6. I still have a copy of MoO2, but I've never played MoO, so I'm kinda tempted to get it. Maybe when I clear out my backlog of unplayed games. MoO2 is an absolute classic in the turn-based 4X genre (explore, expand, exploit and exterminate). I still pull it out every now and again to play "just one more turn". I'm not sure how well it will hold up without the sheen of nostalgia, though.

Steam's Mid-week Madness is:
Deus Ex $2.50
Deus Ex: Inivisible War $2.50
Both for $5

Both of these are great games, though the original is better. They suffer from dated graphics and dumb enemy AI, but the story and exploration are still a lot of fun.

With "The Passing" DLC coming out for L4D2, it seems likely that will be the upcoming weekend deal.

Damn, I remember the LAN parties I used to have IN CLASS with Descent back in the day. Good times.

I had the original Guild Wars, but none of my friends ended up picking it up so I never really played it for long. =/

Yeah, I still have guild wars, I've played it probably a total of 10-20 hours max over the years. I'll install it, play for a bit and get bored, then move on to other games.

GOG has Action-comedy titles on sale for $4.19 each:
Giants: Citizen Kabuto
MDK
MDK 2

Of the three I've only played Giants, and I remember it being a fun but frustratingly unpolished game. I'm not sure if time has been friendly to this strange FPS/RTS hybrid.

Last time I played my copy of Giants was about a year ago, and it was still as good as I remember it being. The controls are frustrating in some parts, but it's worth it for the comedy. It's one of those rare video games that manages to actually be funny, not just try to be.

Final week of Direct2Drive's Spring Sale

Mass Effect 1 & 2 Bundle $35
Aion $25
Titan Quest Bundle $5
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines $10
Sid Meier's Pirates! $5
Civilization 4: The Complete Edition $10
SimCity Socieities $10
Swat 4 Gold $10 (Be like Spoony!)
Fallout 3 $15 (note, this is not the GOTY edition, and doesn't include DLC)
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel $20
Divinity 2 $30
Chessmaster 9000 $5
Defense Grid: The Awakening $5
Majesty 2: THe Fantasy Kingdom Sim $9
The Settlers: Rise of an Empire Gold Edition $10
Trine $5
Guild Wars Nightfall $15
Grand Ages Rome $10
AI War Fleet Command + Zenith Remnant Bundle $10
Europa Universalis: Rome Gold $5
Dark Fall Lost Souls $5

Some pretty good titles this week: Mass Effect, Titan Quest and Trine strike me as the best deals.

Fallout 3 is, I hear, pretty good, but with none of the DLC you'd have to be sure you only want the core game. (All of the DLC for Fallout 3 would come to 4,000 MS points, or ~$50, the same as the GOTY version of Fallout 3.)

The Humble Indie Bundle at the price of your choice. Five games: World of Goo, Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru HD and Penumbra Overture. Proceeds go to the developers or to the charities of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child's Play (and you can choose how much to each).
- No DRM
- Multi-platform (Windows, Linux, Mac OSX)

No matter what amount you donate, you can also get the rest of the Penumbra collection for 5 dollars (at least according tot he Penumbra site). The first two games (Black Plague and Overture) are pretty good, but Requiem feels like a Portal rip-off without the fun portal mechanic. Still, it's worth 5 bucks.

Man... how can I NOT get that?

Bought and bought :)

Well, I was feeling horribly annoyed over both CnC4 and Settlers 7 having always-online DRM which simply means I can't play, so I bought this instead. Hah!

The Humble Indie Bundle has been extended (though I'm not sure for how long), and four of the five titles are going open source (free as in speech, not as in beer). Also, Samorost 2 has been added to the bundle.

Steam Play Indie Pack for $20 (And Yet it Moves, Galcon Fusion, Machinarium, Osmos, World of Goo)
