The idea of wanting to...what's the word...schtoink a comic character is a bit disturbing to me.

I like Jade's expression in the most recent comic
Soooo... It's disturbing to feel a little aroused by a drawing of a sexy woman?

Also, people who say they'd schtoink Minnie Mouse or something... THOSE guys are disturbing.

There's a pretty big difference between being aroused and wanting to schtoink. Being aroused by Jade? Maybe Frank Cho's version of Jade...but even then, I wasn't anywhere close to the mindset of "I'll be in my bunk".

And you're right about the Minnie Mouse thing...that is far more disturbing to me.

DO YOU DARE?

(Not even remotely safe for work. Not safe for childhood. Not safe for sanity. Not safe for lunch, at the very least)

I've found drawn images quite evocative before. It's obviously not the ink and paper you're attracted to. It's the woman it represents.

Believe me, I don't need your help. Excuse me, I have to go google video search "pop cyst".
Make sure you add 'perianal' to that query. An ex had one of those. Messy.

Also, I was much more disturbed by the pictures of Donald than anyone else. Just the idea of that machine-gun laugh/rant he has was enough to give my imagination enough ammo to wince a few times.

I too like to invest my emotion in things that are real, and not some bizarre fantasy of fucking cartoon characters.

If you're telling me watching Heavy Metal back in the 80s didn't titillate you even in the slightest, you're a damn liar.

I still don't get it. It's the woman and the sexuality it represents. If you want to get technical, it's no less "real" than a photograph. Do those get you excited?

This is the part where he says at least a photograph is an image of something that IS real. Seriously, didn't we JUST have this discussion in 2007?

Personally, I like drawn depictions of sex often times more then photographs, as they allow freedom to create imagery that is fantastical and often times more aesthetically pleasing. Though, that does not mean I would pick a drawn image of sex over actual sex or live nudity, I don't think anyone is that silly. ;)

But, so are the aspects of the drawing that evoke sexual feelings.

Yeah, I've noticed the discussions cycle a lot here.

Or paintings for that matter. Good art (including statues, etc..) is even supposed to invoke feelings and emotions. And yes, sometimes even arousal. But even the most realistic paintings are still painted globs on a canvas. Nothing like the real thing.

Or hell, porn.. It's still a flat 2D screen (usually) you are watching it on. People you don't even know. How SICK!
Thanks to the both of you for putting the matter so eloquently. That's pretty much how I view these things. Liberty Meadows, Heavy Metal (the old one, not the crappy remake), certain European comics (eg. Druuna), Jade's new design in PvP... seriously, those are some quite beautiful drawn women.

Also, people take me way too seriously. I just like to take these moments to promote the use of the word "schtoink" ;) It's gonna be the next big thing, you'll see!

That's true. Especially considering that truly aesthetic photography of the nude female form tends to get swamped in the sea of bad porn. Frank Cho's already been mentioned, and I admit finding his work... invigorating.

Unless they're that Asian guy who's in love with an anime pillow ;)

MAD Magazine's on the phone, NR, they want to have a word with you...
I will only negotiate with Mr Neumann. In person.

And tell them to stop sending Spy vs Spy to rub me off! I've had to throw their unconscious asses out of the house twice already this week! Those guys just can't work together.

In that last panel when she smiles she looks like a REAL PERSON!

It's a wonderful improvement over art I didn't know needed improvement.

Seriously, apparently Scott should have moved in with the P-A guys years ago.
Does anyone here doubt that this is exactly the reason why his art is improving?
Well, it's certainly not his fans and readers who are offering constructive criticism about his craft.

Bazinga.
