Been reading up on the updates, lotta cool stuff. Some of the less obvious ones:

-torches on glass
-insta-grow crops with bone meal
-you can dye sheep!
-spiders can climb walls :aaah:
--but they can't climb sandstone
-gold tools mine faster (but still have shitty durability)

For lapis lazuli, are we going to have to explore new land in SMP to get it?

This update affects both the client and the server, but the server update isn’t mandatory. I highly suggest updating, though.
* Fixed various blocks acting really weird when placed (rails, torches, and more)

* No more ghosts at night
* Added a temporary fix to get rid of chunk visibility errors
The last one is interesting.. The problem with chunk visibility errors was that for some reason the “dirty” flag on chunks and the list of “dirty chunks” got out of synch. There wasn’t time to try to do a proper fix today, so I just made the client check a couple of dirty chunks per frame to make sure they’re in the list.
So until we fix it proper, you might get invisible chunks, but they will fix themselves after a second or two, usually way before you even get close to them.

multiplay is still working on the update, server continues to run 1.1.

Looks like torches on glass isn't true. Boo. Neither is the spider/sandstone deal.

Hey GasBandit, you should make a flaming arrow dispenser firing squad in Gasbandia Court. Sweet, blazing, razor-tipped unilateral justice.

Bear in mind folks, after you patch up to 1.2_01 you'll have to reapply the 1.1 rollback again to play on the server

So I'm thinking of building a spleef arena. Just mucking around with plans atm, but would any of you guys be interested in playing at all?

I toyed with the idea of making a spleef arena, but it has a major hangup in that it was designed for classic/creative mode where destroying blocks was instant and didn't require a tool, and that you couldn't directly attack other players. You can get close to instant block destruction with a diamond pickaxe on red netherstone, but it's also possible to accidentally chop the legs out from under the guy you're trying to dig out the stone from under.

so our current mod thing hey0 made is no longer being updated, looks like buckkit will be the next best alternative. :D

I was thinking an Indiana Jones style booby-trap. Set foot on the wrong patch in a hallway and suddenly the walls start firing arrows.

I do have some ideas kicking around for dispensers, once we get a stable, addon-enabled version of 1.2 on the server. But that time isn't here yet.

Waiting on the server to be usable with the current version. Dont like the idea of having to downgrade my client to play on it.

I'm busy playing other games, and trying to take care of my health. I'd have popped-on last night, but I didn't want to futz around with downgrading my game just to try and relax playing Minecraft.

Been sick, and also minecraft.net has had some serious connectivity issues lately, so whenever I DID want to play, "Cannot connect to minecraft.net." Have been on to build a few things, like a giant tetris game complete with NES gamepad, finish my statue of liberty, and I've also been minecartifying the streets of gasbandia, complete with bus stops, dispensers and runaway cart catchers.

Exactly. Though I love Minecart Mania and such, I'd rather be able to PLAY most of the time than wait for long update times.
