The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

Last Friday I arrived in Prague for my semester study abroad. Since then I have:

  • Gone out with different people every night and had a great time each time.
  • Met people from, literally, every inhabited continent in the world. And they have all been very nice. Especially the Dutch.
  • Had some of the best beer I've ever had anywhere.
  • Improved US-Norwegian relations...with my tongue.
  • Went to lunch at a brewery today which turned into a pub crawl when the Czech student guiding us kept saying "Hey, I know another good pub that's not far..."
  • Made tentative plans to spend St. Patrick's Day in Dublin with another student, just because we can.

The trip has been amazing so far and in the next couple of weeks I hope to get some good sightseeing in (other than the inside of bars) now that I've got Internet and a mobile phone. Yep.

Fellow international student high five!!

My year in Ireland was the best frickin' year of my life. Hopefully you'll have a damn lot of craic yourself :)

Also, watch out for golems.

I'll take Czech golems over the roided-up frat boy golems I see at my home university. At least I don't have to listen to the Czech ones talk.

My best friend, Mark - with whom I've been friends since early high school - quit his job to become a writer. His first novel is being published and comes out in June! W00t!!

I'll let you all know the particulars when I get them.

High five, Dave! As a writer-turned-scientist...I admire the balls that step took, and I'll try to pick up a copy of his book.

As for me...I had an AWESOME day today, and have the best girlfriend in the world. I picked the lab I'll end up doing my PhD in, was notified that I had won not one, but TWO Google Cr-48 laptops (one for myself, and one for my girlfriend) in a contest, and got home to find that my girlfriend had picked up Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for me! :)

After over a year of searching, hoping and digging around, I finally found them: the last two seasons of Jeeves and Wooster on DVD. I now own all episodes of this Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry goodness.

What? It's an epic win for me. I frickin' LOVE this series.

Not really as epic as some of the other people here but...

We submitted our paperwork (And a nice big cheque) to the adoption agency. We're on our way. I'll be Papa Adammon in 12-18 months.
That is awesome. Wishing you a smooth ride on the adoption highway.

Best wishes to you both! Can't wait to hear how things go and see pictures, of course.

Actually the girlfriend has been over since early yesterday. -grin-

Some more Epic News: Girlfriend's sister just officially got proposed to. One of my best friends just went into labor too. Great day/weekend so far!

So she took the whole "I'm dumping you to get back with my ex-wife" thing pretty well?

No, that person is now my ex. My girlfriend is the one who was my ex prior.

Also yes, we've talked about it since, in detail and we're working on being good friends now. My current girlfriend and I are piecing back together our family of nearly 8 years.

I'm sure it will work out just fine, this sort of thing always does. *Jerry* *Jerry*

Thank you for the vote of confidence, you're always a source of positive thinking and well wishing.

If it causes the least bit of a rift, I will end the friendship immediately. I will not jeopardize my family.

Why would I wish you well?

Also, I was referring to the relationship with your former-ex-wife(or reasonable facsimile), current-girlfriend - which, in and of itself, is grounds for mocking the situation. I mean, really, do you think the reasons that ended are all gone and are never to resurface? Aside from that, you just broke up with the other one, and you jump right back into a relationship? Yeah, that always works out just fucking fine.

On top of that, you post here about your romantic, "success" for lack of a better term. In multiple threads. Do you think anyone is impressed?

The only people I wish well in your whole asinine situation is your kids. They're gonna need a whole lot of luck.

I broke up with a one month relationship, to fix an almost 8 year family bonded one and you've got a problem with that? I wonder where your priorities lie.

Do I think the reasons that ended are all gone never to resurface? Of course not. Do I think we have the ability to work and fix the ones that are left over now? Most definitely.

Jump back into a relationship with her? If you call seeing each other 1 1/2 day a week, talking on the phone nightly because she lives 4hrs away for the next 4 months back together, then yes I did. Why? Because there was no reason not to. We know each other better than anyonelse ever has or will, there was no need to go through a new courtship process or more time apart, we've had our time apart.

I've only responded about my "romantic success" in response to others posting about theirs, never just self embellished for the reason of bringing it up.

You've got a serious grudge against me for no damn good reason. You really need to get over whatever stick has crawled up your posterior if you can't see that I made the right decision for my, my children and the overall happiness of all involved.

--Espy--- Give what a rest? He blatantly attacks me, ever since I posted the original thread about my life situation. He has no real reasons, he has some personal issue with how I went about my decision and obviously has some deep seeded issues that are brought up by them.

So the person who was your ex is now your girlfriend and the person who is your girlfriend is now your ex, so if we see you say your ex, you mean your girlfriend, and when you mention your girlfriend, but that's your ex, or ex-ex, and then... who's on first?

Here's the way it works. If you want to report a post go nuts. If a mod comes into a thread where 2 people are arguing and that mod wants it to stop he or she say cut it out. I don't give a damn who started what unless it's reported.
So: Cut. It. Out. Both of you/everyone.
