Minor victory thread

Payday, a weekend off, and the Pens schedule finally converge to my advantage. It's upper, upper, upper deck, but I've got a ticket to today's game vs. Montreal. :D

So, you finally busted that maple syrup bootlegger you've had a running vendetta with? (I kid, I kid, congratulations).

Broke out my phone's internet connection to bring the front desk back from the dead when everything else dropped offline with no hope of repair until after the weekend.

I love feeling bad-ass in a video game. Usually in online games I'm lucky if I feel competent, but I had a great night in Team Fortress 2 yesterday. I think I was on the LordKaT Mafia server, and the map was Stage 2 of Dustbowl. My team was defending, and we were doing real well. Not dominating, but holding fast in pitched battle. The Blu team nearly captured point A several times. I was playing a Sniper, since that's what I often do in the rare times when it's not already over-populated. I was doing really well, for me, and got a record 8 kills in one life and dominated their spy.

Then I got team balanced to the other side, and I thought my fun time was over. Ha, I was wrong. I switched over to Medic, which is my best class as well as being necessary to push out of the starting area. It was rough going, but by keeping myself alive long enough to build a few ubers, our team finally pushed out and took the point with less than a minute to go, and then went on to just stomp past the other team and take the next control point with ease.

In short, I got to feel like I was the reason my team was winning.

Just passed a PFT for another department, one that is much closer to my parents. In the event I get hired with them, not only will I be making more money with a cheaper cost of living, but I'll be near family so we can FINALLY have help with Rhiannon.

Plus, y'know, it feels awesome to pass a physical standards test, despite several years on the "in-cruiser" diet

FINALLY ordered Him pieces! Really need to get work done on these costumes...
Yellow contacts ordered through a friend (to be picked up Thursday before SakuraCon).
Wig ordered through Arda Wigs today (should be here in a couple days, yay!). The friend I ordered the contacts with recommended Arda for their fast shipping. I hate having to wait a month for a wig. Happy to see Arda's slowest shipping is priority mail! :D
Boots ordered through a cheap and slightly trashy club wear site, but they should work out a-okay!

Took feathers out of "fox" ears I bought a couple years ago. Have to paint them yellow and then I'll have my pony ears finished. :)

Didn't find the restored Schlitz over the weekend, but I did find another revived beer from the 60s. Duquesne Pilsener. Used to be made in Pittsburgh, now from Latrobe. And not an "adjunct" beer, so no rice or corn to get in the way of flavor. Schlitz may be highly rated for an adjunct beer, but it's still an adjunct beer.

Passed written exam for that department I mentioned earlier... next up is the board interview... I really... REALLY hope I get on with this department...

My night before work started poorly and was headed towards a death spiral of minor annoyances.

But then I got to work. And there was GUMBO. :)

And as soon as I set the gumbo aside for weekend noms at home, one of the pizza guys noticed that their delivery sign-in sheet was full, and therefore the front desk (me) was entitled to free pizza.

Epic nom night. :D

One of the minor internet celebrities I follow on twitter ( @Shegeekshow ) was giving out the extra copies of games she got from buying Valve's Potato Bundle, and I got one! Cogs is pretty darn fun so far.

Plus I'm just in a good mood in general for the last couple days. Some small things triggered big happy feelings. I don't even really have what I'm feeling happy for, but the little things reminded me that the big stuff is out there to hope for.

My really nice streak is continuing. I went out to dinner tonight with family (Grandpa, uncle, cousin, mom, dad and sisters.) It's been hard to find a restaurant to eat at since getting my allergy test results back, but we found a place I can reasonably trust. It was delicious too. I had a great evening, despite my little 7 year-old cousin being trouble in a mop of curly hair. She was noisy and bouncing off of the walls the whole time, but she's mostly sweet about it.
