The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

I'm about to move into a larger bedroom in the basement (go ahead and make your jokes) and I'm starting to clean out my bedroom. Not only did I stumble upon the vast store of change I already have rolled, but all the other change that's just been sitting around waiting for me to sort it.

I don't wanna give exact amounts or even estimates really, but suffice it to say that when I have my larger bedroom and take all these coins to the bank, I'll be using the proceeds to buy myself a bigass DTV of some kind.

Yep--at one of the greatest schools for a young, idealistic teacher. :D The standards are high, the teaching methods are creative and research-based, and there's a general feeling of warmth and respect from everyone you meet there.
Run while you can, it is full of Stepford Wives...

I thought you said Abita was bad! That said, I'm jealous! I've had an envie for crawfish and beer for a while now. My sister's having a boil soon though... woot!

As for me... I'm a teacher! They hired me! And not only did they hire me (and this other new assistant), but they created a new position for us! They've been wanting to build on their science program, so they're making she and I half-day teaching assistants and half-day science teachers!! WE GET OUR OWN LAB! With this change to the position they were going to offer us, we're going to make much more money, too! I have a job! A job with benefits! And this summer I get to help write the curriculum! Oh my God, oh my God, this school has no crappy teaching manuals or half-baked student incentive programs, and they're going to pay for my Master's degree! I couldn't be happier! *dancey dance* I have an interview for a summer position at a bookstore today, too. If I get that then all the pieces are falling into place. Oh my God, I don't think I've stopped hopping since I got home...

:D Thank you! I was so flattered by what she said. I got a recommendation from an old teacher of mine who works there, and he must have really talked me up, because what she said in the meeting verbatim was:

"It didn't make any sense to me to hire you as just an assistant when we could have you here teaching our children. I want you to use your talents here."

Then she told me about how her superior let her work with the budget so that she could offer me a salary that was in between an assistant's and a teacher's--a much more livable one. I almost cried.

I'm changing your nickname, Ceej. You're "Teach" to me from now own. Or maybe it should be "Teaj?" :D

In my little world, I've been doing quite a bit of writing on my novel since school finished.

Today, I officially broke 50,000 words. The plot is winding down and I'm nearing the end (less than half a dozen chapters to go).

That is awesome! My excitement for Soundgarden coming to DC has subsided a bit since I read that.

Still.

Got harassed in downtown Toronto while waiting for the streetcar... Stomped on one guys foot with my heels and shoved the other two into oncoming traffic. They left me alone after that. This really has not been my month. :s I kicked ass.
