Whats for Dinner?

Makare sounds like too much bread in the mix. You need at least a 80/20 mix on the meat (beef/fat ratio) or preferably 70/30. Maybe mix a little spice or Worcestershire, but not much, you don't want to "puree" the meat, just form it into a patty, 1/2 to 1 inch thick, making the center slightly thinner than the edges. Cook about 6 minutes per side (depending on how done you want) or until the juices start flowing clear out of the patty, don't press them to make juices come out, and only flip once.

I like my moms burgers. I like them very well done crusty on the outside and crumbly inside. I just cooked them for six minutes then flipped them and cooked 6 more minutes and they were mushy inside. It was gag inducing. I don't know how thick they are.

Also, sounds like a medium-well to well-done burger, so you would be upping the cooking time a little also, probably 7=8 minutes per side.

Tonight I had:
Garlic hot dog with a red pepper sauce
Homemade mac & cheese (sharp cheddar and gruyere)
Asparagus
Butternut squash

I don't know what was better, the mac & cheese or the red pepper sauce. I'm really looking forward to making a pizza with the pepper sauce. I've been missing pizza so bad since I found out I'm allergic to tomatoes. It won't be quite the same, but it'll be a lot closer than a pizza with a white sauce.

Do. Not. EVER. Smash the patty. Not only does it dry out the meat, you've now contaminated the spatula with the raw meat on top.

A 5 0z. patty, about 3/4" thick only needs about 4 minutes per side for medium rare. Only needs one flip. Want it a little more done, add time per side, but still only one flip. Let it rest loosely covered with foil on an inverted plate for about 5 minutes while you get the bun and toppings ready.

If you want minimalist perfection, all you need is mayo and fresh ground black pepper. The juices of the burger will combine to make awesomesauce.

Yeah I prefer well done burgers. My mom is back from her vacation now so she can make them. I'll watch this time and figure out where I've been going wrong. From what she said this last time what I did wrong was putting anything in it. As far as ruining a good burger goes the burger I had at Five Guys when I went was pretty much what I am talking about so that type of burger can't be that uncommon.

What am I having for dinner? Why, purple, of course! No, really. I'm sauteeing purple bell pepper, boiling purple potatoes, and roasting some beets. Hooray for the farmer's market letting my have a Leslie's Favorite Color-themed meal! :D

They taste like green ones, it turns out (just finished those. I'm cooking everything in shifts). I still prefer red, but they were really fun to try. I might put my last one in an omelet tomorrow morning.

I suck at making omelets. Actually, I'm pretty terrible at making any sort of scrambled eggs. I've finally gotten pretty decent at sunny-side-up though.

Tonight's dinner will be a cheese burek (Slovenian flaky dough pastry thing...with cheese inside), an apple, Slovenian off-brand Pringles (sour cream and onion flavor), most of a Toblerone, and a bottle of red wine (Teran, a type of Slovenian wine).

Ah, hostel dinners.

Something... not sure what, have a final night of our church's vacation bible school and we don't leave until about 9:30pm.

Wow! I'm making burgers, baked beans and oven-roasted red potatoes. lol

So, made some quinoa; not impressed. Just tried a simple recipe: washed, cooked and then a light sautee of olive oil and minced garlic. I dunno, maybe I didn't wash it well enough, even though it's allegedly pre-washed. Anyone like quinoa and have recipes or cooking tips they'd like to share?

I'm making a roast beef, sauteed carrots, baked sweet potato, and peas. It'll be ready soon, but not soon enough. I'm so hungry!

Beans came out slightly runny but still very great, rice was perfect texture between soft and too soft, and the chile came out perfect for the carne. Mexican coke to drink it down, just damn fantastic *self horn tooting*

Out of nowhere, it's f-ing Shego! And she comes bearing food!

*dubious look at the plate*

It looks good... but dare I ask if it had a name PRE-carne?

Well, it wasn't dinner but yesterday we went to The Taste of Edmonds around lunch time!
Started with lamb sliders, got my corn on the cob, followed by a hotdog and then a giant turkey leg and mango lemonade. I wanted chocolate covered strawberries and a piroshky, too... but I was too full after the turkey leg, even after walking for an hour after. /disappointment!
Finished the day with some chips and a slice of apple pie a la mode! <3
