Go downtown at night at least once. It's like a full time party going on there - I had some of my most fun there. If nothing else you can stare at the pretty lights above your head.

I'm not a gambler either, but did have a lot of fun playing craps. There are a lot of rules, but once you get the hang of it, it can be a pretty fun, communal game experience. And, you can find the 3 dollar tables where you don't end up spending much.

congrats bro!
Thanks Chibi. You're a gentleman and a scholar.

Congratulations!
Thank you so much balloon man.

Congratulations, you strange, strange person you :p
Thanks Mr. Viking.

Haha yeah, Mike's first time in Vegas over 21... he blew $200 playing Blackjack just once. He thought it would be easy and I was not there to "supervise". He just came back saying, "Okay I'm stupid. I'm broke."

The last time we went to Vegas was amazing, though! Mike did pretty okay with a quarter machine and cashed out before things started going wrong. Played some weird game where there's $1, $2, 5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 on the table with a big wheel to spin. Put money on a bill, spin the wheel, maybe win some money! He got $100 from that one, and we left to find something else.
Our friend said to play 3 card poker. "It's my favorite. Just give them money, she'll put down some cards, and you don't have to do anything." They played twice. The first time, nothing. Second time, he had a straight flush and won $250!
Some how we ended up finding a place with nickle machines and I got $150 from one. We ended up buying our friends breakfast (we were up until 5am-ish?). :)

Just don't get sucked into slot machines. You'll start doing well then that can take a very wrong turn. Be smart and cash out before you lose it all! :D
Thanks for all the advice my asian sensation.

Congratulations Jay!
Thank you! Your forum nickname makes me smile.

Congratulations, Jay!

And small weddings = less headache. Enjoy.
Thanks Darryl. :)

So...
?

I keed, I keed. :p

Congrats, Jay!
More like dark blue. Heavily used over the past decade. Thanks. :)

Big congrats Jay, are you taking her name?
Western Canucks aren't as funny as they think they are. ;)

Thanx

Congrats!
Thanks!

Congrats! Eight years is "'bout damn time" time. :whistling: Afraid of the commitment, perhaps? :p

Seriously, man. Congrats. Many happy years to you both.
Indeed, about time. However, it was never a question of commitment, as I knew I wanted to marry her over 4 years ago. We just are a new-age couple that wanted to take our time to get married and settled down. We wanted to do it at our pace, not the Church's. :)

Thank you kindly for your words.

That sounds like a great wedding. Congrats!
Thanks Mr. Blotsfan.

Give each other Hell. You've earned it.

Ummm... thanks Pat. :)

Tell me where to buy crack?

No seriously, tell me about your experiences there. Tips. Costs for shows? Tips on having a better time. Penthouse? How much? Shows? Which shows? How much? Crack? Penn and Teller? The TV show?

That sounds like an excellent idea. Anything else?

Penn and Teller have a live show that runs nightly where they do some of their most famous acts coupled with Penn's usual rants about rights and freedoms. It's very enjoyable if you're a fan (with some opportunities for audience participation. If you have an Iphone, you may get to go on stage!)

Buy alcohol for your room before you get to the hotel. Ask your cabbie to take you to the beer store before you get on the strip because it's damn near impossible to find booze outside of the casinos/restaurants for cheap. There's one about halfway between the airport and the strip that has munchies available as well.

The Penthouse suites were $400ish a night IIRC. We got a deal and it was nice getting access to the VIP check-in for the free wifi and snacks/drinks. The room itself was kind of dated; try booking rooms in the new Bellagio tower as it's closer to the wedding facilities as well. (And is just more modern, period)

Go to the Gun Store. Do it! As a Canadian, it's fantastic; just make sure you go really, really early in the morning to avoid the lineups.

Why would I want to visit a Gun Store?
When I say "Gun Store" I guess I neglect to mention "Gun Range" at the same time. You get a stack of ammo for a multitude of guns and you take your aggressions out on targets shaped like zombies. The question really is "Why WOULDN'T you want to visit a Gun Store?"

I'm scratching my head on that one too... I'm Canadian and I love going to the firing range.

Also, shooting on zombie shaped zombies sounds awesome!

Yeah, since you're getting married, you might as well become a certified man, right? It may be the last time you can enjoy it.

First off, Félicitations, mon ami!

When my wife and I were there, we took some advice from one of my sergeants: Sign up to hear one of the time-share salesperson's spiels. You go, look at some property that you're never going to invest in for a couple hours, and they load you down with tickets to shows, Grand Canyon etc... Depending on what you're feeling up for, it might not be a bad idea to look into it.

Also, I know you said gambling isn't your thing, but it's still fun to give it a whirl once... just, as has already been stated, you don't play unless you're willing to write off the money from the get-go. Also, leave your credit card behind!

Cirque du Soleil was FANTASTIC when I was there (Kà, WELL worth seeing, if it's still playing), we caught a couple smaller shows.

The only bad thing I can think of is that Circus Circus was supposed to be closing shortly after we left, so you're missing out on one of my favorite casinos there (the free circus show was awesome to see.) :(

Man, how'd I miss this? Congrats man! Have fun in Vegas, everyone has pretty much said what I would say as for what to do so have a blast.

My favourite part of Vegas was actually visiting some of the National park areas in the desert around it. Red Rock Canyon is gorgeous.
Course, I was 16 at the time, so I couldn't enjoy most of the nightlife. Still, if I went back I'd definitely make a day of hiking out there.

So... things are going very nicely. We made our rounds... told everyone... everyone in the immediate family is coming... many close friends on both sites have promised to come.... prices are slightly lower now... it's going to be awesome.

I wanted to personally thank all the good wishes I got from you all, I know sometimes we may not be the best of terms, such is life when opinions differ but I never wished ill to any of you, except for Nick. Furthermore, thank you all for your advice and am still inclined to get more as well as personal experiences from visiting Vegas yourselves.

Wow, I missed this big time. Conga Rats Jay, and this is from somebody that has been married longer than the old man of the forums (but I'm still younger than him)

I have to agree with this. you be surprise what free stuff (no strings attach if you play your cards right)

my co-worker usually get free vacay and listen to stuff for about an hour or so. In Vegas (a friend told me this) you can get tickets to stuff free after you attend. Even if you don't buy anything, you still get the tickets/stuff ;)

I'm bumping this shit... why? Because in 5 weeks... it happens.

I'll post details... maybe even pictures.

We're going to be 20 people... we hoped for 10-12. So that turned out very well.

We just got a $500 wedding gift certificate from her job, to do whatever the fuck we want to do in Vegas..... ummmm yeeeaaaaaah

Fly Helicopter to the Grand Canyon for a day?
Dinner on top of Paris? (the hotel)
Sex on a gondola?

Helicopter flight would be fun. It's about 4-5 hours door to door so it's a good use of the day, leaving the morning/evening for other shenanigans. I don't know what kind of food you like so I can't comment on restaurants. On a gondola? You could have it out on the street if you wanted; it's Vegas.

I'm open to many cuisines. My favorite or Lebanese/Greek however. Szechuan and whatnot.

OOhh, congrats so much!!! I hope everything goes perfectly for you! :)
Thanks Kaggie. <3

Congratz man! Sounds like you guys are ready.

One recommendation though, if you want the magic of Las Vegas, don't stray far from the strip. I would explain why, but I worry talking about it might ruin some of the magic in-of itself.
