I actually ran into that the other day... they're bandits that have just killed imperials and taken their armor. If you approach them, they will stop you and say things to the effect of "Uh, hail citizen! We are the cops! We command you to.. give us 50 gold!" then kinda try to nudge the dead imperial bodies behind a rock with their foot while they maintain eye contact.

Ya, exactly. I ran into that the first time and thought that was it, but I couldn't see the original bodies until after I'd taken out the "imperials" that had the armour on. Then I found the bodies a bit behind bushes a bit more down the road.

I'm restarting my character just for fun (though I'll probably come back to it).

I'm restarting as a Kahjit, joining the thief guild arc immediately, and going unarmed/stealth/bow. With the normal smith/enchant grindage of course. His name is Macavity. I figure between the Kahjit racial unarmed damage plus the gloves of the pugilist until I can get some perks into archery, he should be good to go.

Do Khajits only get the damage bonus if they don't wear arm pieces, or does it combine with the damage bonus you can get from that Heavy Armor perk?

From what I've seen, it combines with all bonuses, including the heavy armor perk and bonus to unarmed you get from items (such as gloves of the pugilist).

That's pretty much my build exactly.

So my new Khajit was out by himself last night (Lydia isn't exactly conducive to stealth).. had just barely gotten done with clearing out a cave, and was down to 20 iron arrows (having used up all my steel)... when I hear a roar and that music. And I think, I'm so boned. 20 arrows? IRON arrows? So boned. So I make the best of it, and hold my fire until the dragon stops to hover over me each time, but still I can tell I'm not going to have enough arrows even if every one counts - you can't stealth shot a dragon usually, and that's heavily what my build relies on at this point.

Down to 5 arrows and the dragon is still at least 2/3rds to go... he gets distracted by something else. Which makes my spirits rise because I'm way too far northwest for giants (almost to solitude), so I think, wandering guards! Nice! But I look again, and there's no guards. You know what the dragon deemed a bigger threat than me?

Three horkers and a mud crab.

I punched my first dragon to death last night. It felt righteous.

Almost done with Skyward Sword, and looking forward to sinking my teeth into this game. Out of curiosity, when can you start the Companions questline?

Pretty much as soon as you hit the first city, Whiterun, which if you stick to the main quest will be in the first 20 minutes. I don't think it has a invitation requirement, but you can get invited by running into the Companions outside the city while they fight a giant.

One little tip for people that go all out with the Companions and like one of the special "perks" you get.

Once you become a werewolf (and if you decide to stay a werewolf after the final quest for the faction), head to the city of Falkreath, and head into the barracks and down to the jail. There is a werewolf there that was imprisoned for murdering a little girl. He gives you Cursed Hircine's Ring, which was what caused his sudden and wild transformation. If you do the following quests and in the end save the werewolf from the hunters trying to kill him, Hircine will uncurse the ring, which can then be used as a wereworlf to have unlimited transformations (the regular ability can only be used once a day). This is actually really great since even if you don't fight as a werewolf, the werewolf form can run extremely fast and has amazing stamina, allowing you to get around faster then even on a horse. Just make sure you don't try to enter a friendly town in the form.

If you cure yourself of being a werewolf or simply don't do the quests for the Companions, you can also help the hunters kill the werewolf to gain a special set of leather armor called the Saviors Hide, which has a unique look

I didn't mean to imply as such. I was simply pointing out that the Savior's Hide is a better reward if you are not a werewolf, since the uncursed ring only works if you are a werewolf, and is basically a useless trinket if you never take on the form. I guess I should have been more clear.

I haven't had a companion except when the story quest requires it. With my build, they totally get in the way. After finals, I'm going to gorge on Skyward Sword (which is AMAZING, BTW) and once that's wrapped up, I'll be really sink my teeth into Skyrim.

There's a bug that lets you wear layers upon layers of armor, which could explain that. You'd just equip a crap load of Smithing + and Enchant + items, smith and enchant, then equip a ton of One Handed + items.

I'm talking about 800 pounds worth of pots, I can't sell more than 5-6 at a time, they usually go from 100-500 gp each. It's nuts. I'm Breton and rich with 140k in gold. Can you imagine if I was an imperial? What a useless perk for them, find more gold.... WHY?

Casting Fury on random townfolk? Fun as hell. I went to Whiterun and started casting it on old ladies. They'd whipped out knives and start slashing other NPCs, and then get lynched by a mob, who then came after me. I'd run a circle, steal from the corpse, and then cast Fury on another.

I love this character.

You what was weird a few days ago? Some Nord referred to me as an outsider or something that implied I wouldn't get their cause because I'm not a Nord.

I'm a Nord.:Leyla:

It's probably because you don't speak/act like a native. This is how the Dunmer of Morrowind knew you were an outsider, even if you were a Dark Elf.

Isnt the story that you get caught on the border while trying to enter Skyrim? They probably think that you arent a true Nord, since you didnt grow up in one of the holds.

And you don't sit a chair in a rakish angle like a Jarl.

Oh, and on that note, we have here in Omaha a locksmithing company called "Carl Jarl". They didn't used to rhyme to me but now they do. Even their commercials say, "Carl Garl" with a hard "G" sound like "Giant".

I really would like it though if you had a fame meter like in Fable. Where the more quest you do the more famous/infamous you become and you will be recognized on the streets.I know some Quests open new Dialoge from Guards, but I really would love some admiration and followers.
