If it's unplayable, I'd recommend removing ALL mods you have (including their files, especially if they're textures or other things that take additional memory), and then re-run. If it's fixed, re-add until you have problems.

*sigh* I have to face it: Lydia is gone and she won't be coming back. Bitch. She had my first batch of dragon scales and bones, and some good loot. That tought me: don't let your housecarl carry your burdens...

If it makes you feel better, my Lydia is forever to stay in my home as Aela the Hunter will NEVER LEAVE ME ALONE. The final totem quest freezes when I get to the area where the totem is, so I can never get it.

This is just after I set her up to be my meat shield.

My women stay at home where I need them. After coming home from slaughtering bandits, dragons, sabre cats, Drauger, werewolves, trolls and Giants, I need a good and well rested woman to relieve my aches and stress. ;)

I am getting this game in the next few days. I can't wait to play this game. I have been wanting this game since you have been posting about it. I don't have a good computer and don't have the money for a new. So I have to get it on the PS3.

Once I get the last Dragon Priest helm, I will have to kill Lydia because she is still wearing one. I have one to go, and killing her on purpose has a whole different feel than killing her on accident.

Couldn't you just... you know... make her give it back? Heck, I even pickpocketed Lydia once.

If you don't have 100 pickpocketing, then it makes sense. Otherwise, that'd work.

And there's always console hacking. Give yourself another mask you need. Or advance the quest with Aela (if you haven't tried that already).

So... There is a quest where you have to collect dragon helmete? Was lydia wearing one from the get-go or did you equip her? i.e. as she is dead and her body is missing in my game now, do I have to go looking for her body??? If yes, well, then fuck...

I gave her the helm to wear (It looked cooler than the Dragon helm thing). I suppose I can work my Pick Pocket up (this will take a LONG TIME.

I guess I can make a pick-pocket set of equipment and just get it off her that way if it lets me.

Oh I didn't realize you were STUCK with the Follower for that quest. I thought you were implying something else.

Which version do you have again? You can use the console to disable follower status on a NPC thus allowing you to recruit again.

That stinks, can't use the console on the xbox or playstation versions. Guess you really are stuck.

If you don't like Aela you could always just get her killed and then go back to Lydia.

Nope, can't kill a person on a quest with you. Believe me, I've shot a shit ton of arrows into her. This union is solid.

I did unsuccessfully pick pocket the mask off Lydia. It was hilarious when she said "You could have just asked for it".

Unfortunately Aela is flagged plot critical (at least she was when I tried to kill her off).

That is odd. Maybe she loses the flag when you finish the quests for the Companions?

I was in a dwarf ruins once when I was onset by five Falmer. I killed them all but noticed Aela was missing. I went down the ramp to the pile of Falmer bodies and found her corpse sitting under them. So I wouldn't say she can't die ever, probably just only when she is no longer critical to her questlines.
