What are you playing?

Never played it.

I dunno man, I'm still enjoying the HD versions. Kind of a nice mindless enjoyment/slaughter after 5 months of Skyrim.
I hear you; I really enjoyed the trilogy when I played it on PS2, and God of War 3 was one of the first PS3 games we bought. Even on PSP, I loved the giant gauntlet in Chains of Olympus. Lots of fun...

But like I said, then I played Bayonetta. I can't entirely explain why, but later when we bought the HD versions and I started the first God of War again, it just didn't feel fun.

God of War 1 was fantastic at the time, I agree. I loved the shit out of it way back when and I had the same experience as Quotemander. That action genre has progressed quite a lot even through the GoW series to the point that the originals are fucking tedious to play now.

Wahoo, done with Feros! I've decided I like my Ashley &Tali lady team best! Also Mike told me I can sleep with some alien girl later, so I'm holding out for her since apparently I'm not allowed to sleep with Ashley.

Trust me, I was pretty upset with all the Female/Female romance choices in the series. :okay:

No Tali, No Ashley, No Miranda no Psycho Girl. Nada.

Youse fuckin' gays got youse gay relationship in Mass Effect 3! So stop fuckin' complaining!

Seriously though, Traynor and Cortez are the lamest cop out "SEE WE ADDED THEM, WE LISTENED TO OUR FANS!" lazy bullshit ever. They didn't even have unique models. They were just build a character last minute additions.

Hmm, have you gone to Therum yet? Volcanic planet?

Nope, doesn't sound familiar. I went to some smaller planets and then Feros. I'm sad that girl that came out of the Thorian didn't join my crew. D:
Does anyone use Kaiden? I find him to be pretty useless and LOL'd when I gained a level by listening to his long ass story on the ship. Might as well get something for listening to him talk for forever!!

My wife uses him and plans to make him her love interest.\

But then, her character is a boring goody-two-shoes 100% paragon, so the two blocks of wood personalities should fit nicely together.

Yeah, I didn't care much for Kaidan or Ashley, (ME1 SPOILERS IN HERE HEATHERLING)
but Ashley looked better in a skin-tight combat suit, so I let Kaidan die.

Finally got to play Mass Effect 2 past the beginning. I am in love with the new galaxy map system; feels much more like exploration this time. Interesting to have all these missions and such.

Help though please. Without spoilers, can anyway give me an idea of when the point of no return "do all missions you want before this" part of the game is? I'd like to not do what I did in ME1, which is pretty much all the side quests first, then all the story quests. Some balance would be good and I don't want to be terrified of suddenly getting into something I'm not ready for.

ME2:
It's not the Omega relay, is it?

Anyway, non-spoiler indicator would be appreciated.

Spoiler free:

Yes, you've found the "hard" point of no return. However, there is a sort of "soft" point of no return earlier than that. There's one story mission where, after completion, a timer starts. If you delay too much after doing that mission, it'll cost you. Therefore, do try to do all the other things you want to do, until you're sure you want to advance the main storyline.

Minor spoilers:

The mission in question is the mission where you retrieve the Reaper IFF.

MAJOR spoilers:

Generally speaking, you get to do one more mission after the IFF mission, before your crew get abducted. If you go through the Omega 4 relay immediately after the abduction, you'll be able to rescue everyone. If you delay too much, half your crew will die, and if you delay even more than that, your entire crew will be lost. This means it's a good idea to finish everything you want to do before you go on the IFF mission, including side quests and loyalty quests. If you don't have a squad mate's loyalty, then there's a high chance he or she will die during the suicide mission, or cause someone else's death. You pick up your final squad member, Legion, during the IFF mission, which is why most players going for the best possible ending will do Legion's loyalty quest right afterwards (thus using up the 1 mission quota before the abduction), and then immediately go through the Omega 4 relay.

Thanks for the help. I'm amazed they'd put the point of no return at practically the beginning of the game (if you want it to be). Checked the minor spoiler, not the major; I appreciate the distinction. I'll keep an eye out for that and warn my wife for when she gets to ME2.

Just finished F.E.A.R. and it's pretty obvious what is wrong with this game: It's a horror game where you hardly ever fight anything scary, you are swimming in ammo, and your slow-mo skill makes every fight a joke. Alma isn't scary and neither is Fettel. What a joke.

I couldn't get past about 30 minutes of FEAR. So boring. I have FEAR 2 as well since it was like 5 bucks at a going out of biz sale but I just... don't even care to try.

FEAR 2 has much better action... but that's about it. Going through FEAR: Extraction Point right now... it's very obvious that it wasn't developed by Monolith. Bad pacing. Uneven difficulty. Focus on jump scares instead of lurking horror... I mean hell, Monolith didn't get it right ether, but at least you could tell they were TRYING. I'll take a bad effort over no effort any day.

Still working my way through Oblivion.

Fallout 3 is the only other Bethesda game I've played before, but this game seems so much deeper than Fallout 3. I'm playing a regular sword-and-shield warrior, but the magic and alchemy and guilds and skills and leveling systems all confuse the hell out of me. So I'm keeping it simple right now. Swing sharp thing until enemies die.

Oh, and I'm really sick of closing Oblivion gates.

Oblivion gates are absolutely the worst part of the game. The best, in my opinion, is Shivering Isles. That stuff is wonderful.

Well, I finished my first playthrough of Oblivion, focusing mainly on the main quest. Did a few side quests, but didn't do any of the guilds or DLC content. Now I'm retiring my sword and board character, starting a new playthrough with a stealthy archer. My previous playthrough gave me a taste of chameleon, so now I'm going to try to get the infamous 100% chameleon outfit. Oh, also, I'll be firing up mods, so if anyone has mod recommendations I'd be a very happy Nord.

Killing time, started playing a super modded out Skyrim on hardest difficulty.... even with making sure I don't screw up taking too many trade skills and being behind on my fighting skills, hit about 17 last night and wow, the skip of difficulty was interesting. I swore a few times. :)

I don't mind high difficulty. I get pissed off at one shots.

The mob mod I downloaded has these crazy Draugar Deathlords that Fu Ro Kill you. Been interesting having been able to clear out entire dungeons with blades of fury to have to stop in my tracks and play the stun or hide and seek game with these guys.....

I have discovered the love that is Psychonauts. I'd played the demo once or twice, but never jumped on a sale until the recent one on Amazon.

And man, this game is great. So many unique things about it that sets it apart from other platformer-esque games. It graphics are a little dated, but given the high quality of aesthetics in the game, it's really hard to complain. Also, the camera can be a pain in ass sometimes, but that's something to be expected with these kinds of games.

But yeah, totally enjoying it so far. It runs a bit slow on my laptop, so even though I'll still play and beat it now, I look forward to running it on a machine with a decent graphics card.

Psychonauts is probably what I'm going to play after Skryim > Darksiders > Psychonauts. Been meaning to for a while. Glad to hear it holds up.

Is the full game better than the demo? Because I tried the Psychonauts demo and it was good, but didn't really grab me. Maybe it's because it's just not my cup of tea, or maybe because the demo doesn't do the full game justice, I dunno. But I keep hearing good things about the game, so I've been tempted.

I can see why. If it helps, that's just the icing on the cake. You get more powers along the way that are quite fun. And the character development is a lot more serious than what I expected from a cartoonish game. Like finding the deep, hidden memory in the level where you learn levitation.

The demo is one of the least imaginative levels in the game. It's a pretty solid introduction to the type of platforming found in the game, and the basic style, but it doesn't reflect just how crazy some of the landscapes are, and how fun some of the humor can be. Nor does it show off the combat in the game.

So right now, I have *WoW, Darksiders, SW:TOR, *L4D2, *TF2, Psychonauts, FEAR3, Costume Quest, Saints Row 3, *ME1, ME2, ME3 all sitting in my gaming cabinet.

All I've done for 2 solid weeks (or is it more at this point?) is play Skyrim. 124hrs according to STEAM. I haven't even opened a single one of those others to even a title menu since then. It's like I'm trying to "finish" Skyrim first. Though I'm starting to wind down the path of "big questlines", I can't seem to want to do anythingelse other than find nooks and crannies of Skyrim to explore instead of popping in another great game.

(Games listed with * are games I've either finished already or have more than 200+hrs into already)

Morrowind with a ridiculously good face lift. Secret World beta on weekends. I haven't really felt like logging into SW:TOR since no one I know is playing it much at all, and I can only solo so much in it.
