Games on SALE!

I always liked Umaro, even though I understand objectively that he was one of the weakest characters. Relm was absolute shit, though, mostly because her special sucked and she was super fragile.

I disagree. Relm is a fantastic character, just learn to use her correctly. She's got the best magic stats in the game and thus she can dominate with her spells if built right. Have her equipped with fake mustache and sniper eye relics with a brush weapon equipped. In battle have her either use control, and if control doesn't work use magic, she's good with magic. Control is a trump card with 50/50 chance of working but if you get it to work it could be useful especially when the opponent controlled takes out its allies and you don't have to waste MP fighting them.

Umaru IMO isn't a real character in the game just a bonus character and thus I consider him as such.

IMO? Cyan and Setzer were on the weaker side but not useless if built right and thus I feel most characters are fine unless they haven't been used properly.

I used to think Gau sucked hard, then near the end of the game I grinded a few of his Rage skills and when he came back... he was amazing.

1: I used her correctly, she had uses but Control was worthless compared to higher end on the list character's special powers. Her best use was Magic and there were much better choices for magic users. Control was also 100% useless against bosses.

So was Gogo and his mimic ability made him one of the strongest characters in the game, so using the -he was a bonus character- just isn't justifiable.

Gau had some of the strongest -free- abilities in the game when he came back. Meteor and his Wind Heal were amazing and he needed no resource.

As for -Any character could be good if used well- I will mostly agree with but my point still stands, no matter how good you use the lower end characters, they won't compare to how powerful the upper end characters were when also used correctly.

Again, FF6 is an amazing game and one of my personal favorites, the inital point was that even the greats in the series had serious flaws, while the later games had great strengths that most people over looked. I think the issue with the later ones vs the early ones was that the early ones were very weak on gameplay and amazing on story where as the later games were the exact opposite.

I just loved Rinoa and Zell.
I loved the cast of FF8 too, but FF7 did feel like an overall better game when compared side-to-side.

Not too many folks considered FF5 weak on gameplay. The job system from FF5 was probably my favorite system Final Fantasy ever did.

You're absolutely right, FF5 was a fantastic leap in gameplay, pretty solid on story and great characters. Sadly they lost that -pop- with FF6 going back to a more traditional style of gameplay, though giving each character their own special skill was nice, it was already done before in the series

Yeah, totally. That and by the end other than their little gimmick skill (which, aside from Gau or GoGo, weren't really game changers), every character was likely decked out in the same magic powers.

Any time I hear "XXX is good when equipped with Offering + Genji Glove", I laugh. EVERYONE IS GOOD WITH THOSE EQUIPPED.

Relm is probably much higher on that list, for stats alone. I think she naturally learns a few spells too.

Gogo should be lower for poor equipment selection and poor stats. His "fill any role" ability is nice but not amazingly so. I'd rather just use Shadow for the Interceptor block and counter chance, plus Throw.

Mog should be much higher. Being able to wear the Snow Muffler naturally is kind of amazing, his Moogle Charm makes the last dungeon a joke for one team, and his dances (especially Water Rondo) are really powerful until the end game. He's also a spear user and makes an excellent Dragoon.

I'll admit I don't remember why I wouldn't equip anyonelse with the Genji/Offering but for some reason I always gave it to Cyan so perhaps you are right against him on that.

Relm again, is great on magic but so are others and the other have better side abilities as well so that's why she's lower on the list.

Gogo doesn't need stats/equipment, when you cast anything and set up Gogo for mimic, it's an instant victory for him. There's just no comparison to his ability to use any ability in a pinch as a double effect to the first characters usage. He basically makes a 4 party group a 6 party group (each of the other 3 are now doubled).

Mog is a character who like was said before -Can be great if you use him right- it's just that the others on the list are better if used right as well.

Tempting, but I own both Saints Row: The Third and Just Cause 2. I probably already have all the open-world sandbox carjacking I'll ever need.

It's probably a last gasp from THQ to scrape some cash together. The company is very nearly done. Super unfortunate as they own Relic, the best RTS developer on Earth.

Heads up on the Darksiders 2 thing, you can get the DLC season passes for 6.80 from Amazon or Gamersgate. Now, it's cheaper for all the currently released DLC to buy the season pass (even though there's about a 1/100000 chance that all the promised DLC will ever get released) than to buy them separately for their currently released prices so it's still an alright deal.
