[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

I am an uncouth rascal. Earlier this evening, I met in the stairs the lady living one floor up. She told me that she had forgotten her keys inside, and her husband had told her on the phone that he could make it back home in about an hour. And I didn't have the common decency to ask her in for...

    Being gay and Mormon

If I may, I'd like to ask why you would think less of them in the case you mentioned. They do belong to the group, yes, but if as you said you don't know whether or not they hold a particular view associated with the group that you find to be wrong according to your own criteria, then on what do...

[Contest] Insult or compliment Dave and win a prize!

Dave must have giants' blood in him. edit: Also, the below is not an entry on account of it's length, but I felt like it seemed strangely appropriate.

I've been to Paris and Barcelona!

Oh, regarding the Eiffel Tower, if you are interested in one-upping most of the lazybones tourists who have visited there, consider climbing the stairs instead of using the elevator. You can get to the second level by using the stairs, though you will have to take the elevator from there to...

I've been to Paris and Barcelona!

I could put in a word for Sacre Coeur. I found the basilica quite beautiful and the view over Paris from the hill rather impressive. And if you want a portrait of yourselves done, the nearby Place du Tetre is the traditional place for that, and there are a lot of artists there selling their...

Google offers hints to get around gov't censorship in China

It could be a good movie. Though it might strain suspension of disbelief to think that a multinational multi-billion-dollar company had some greater humanist motives to begin with. An interesting plot twist might be if the company was really interested only in their bottom line to begin with...

Google offers hints to get around gov't censorship in China

Personally, I hope you are wrong. Companies exist to make a profit, and I don't think I'd be very comfortable when they began taking political stances against ruling governments. They should stick with doing business in accordance with existing laws and directives.

Question on the handling of Warnings/Infractions/Bans.

Speech impairment, jerky movements, balance and coordination dysfunction, changes in gait, rigid posture... Might make sense.

Question on the handling of Warnings/Infractions/Bans.

I seem to recall my upper-secondary school history teacher telling us how the brain was one of the favoured parts during the Siege of Leningrad amongst the more *ahem* pragmatic of the starving citizenry. It had something to do with the brain being one of the organs where the body tried to keep...

Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

Of course, a look at the history of China with respect to imperialism indicates that they themselves weren't all rainbows and butterflies either. Though the reality is naturally more complex, I'd venture to guess that if a simplistic catch-all explanation were to be offered concerning China's...

Question on the handling of Warnings/Infractions/Bans.

Thank you. I'm sure I speak the opinion of many when I state my appreciation for your reasoned post and suggestions, and how delightful I find it when posters treat a serious topic regarding the future of these boards with the respect and consideration it deserves. However, I would also ask for...

Question on the handling of Warnings/Infractions/Bans.

Some niche market for the product might be found perhaps, but they're not too well suited for industrial mass production. I understand humans have a low meat yield for the weight, and it really is rather impractical to spend centuries breeding in desirable qualities like was done with normal...
