Woman meets dad for first time. Now they're having a baby.

There is incest, and then there is procreation. The two do not necessarily need to go together, as procreation is only possible between two people of the opposite sexes, whereas incest can happen regardless of the gender of the participants. So do you guys think incest is wrong and condemnable...

Woman meets dad for first time. Now they're having a baby.

Things like this are not unheard of, and one seems to hear of them from time to time. I personally guess it has a lot to do with where society is willing to draw the line; when does informed consent suffice for encounters of the sort, and when does the horizontal mambo simply become unacceptable.

The secret that could ruin your life

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one. Reading a bit into the thread in question, a few of the things they mentioned were understandable and/or excusable, much was douchebaggery to varying degrees, and some were just plain sick and disgusting. But I found little in there that was really all...

    NAME! THAT DOG!

How about Richelieu, to go with your naming conventions? Like, Canada is half french anyway. You could use the shorthand Ritchie in polite company, and there are quite a number of famous people to whom the shorthand fits. So plenty of possibilities to find some pithy phrase for most occasions...

    What's on stage?

The last play I saw was Wuthering Heights just this weekend. It was amateur theater, and I went to see it primarily because a friend of mine was playing Cathy. The previous play I went to watch was maybe in November. Yeah, I don't go to theaters all that often, though I have nothing against...

How am I Going To Be A Better Poster Thread

That's probably a good guideline for me to follow as well. There are things I'm good at, and things I'm not. By being more discriminating with what I post, I can at least improve my signal-to-noise ratio.

What is/was your greatest childhood fear?

Below the thunders of the upper deep; Far far beneath in the abysmal sea, His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee About his shadowy sides; above him swell Huge sponges of millennial growth and height; And far away into the sickly light, From many a...

What is/was your greatest childhood fear?

I guess mine would be needles. A hurtful visit to the doctor's to get my vaccinations, and I was afraid of the things for a good long while. They're long, they're sharp, and people want to stick them into your flesh. Ugh! And what was worse to a young child, my parents were just sitting there...

what is your favorite game and why?

Grand strategy games are my favorite genre, and Hearts of Iron II was, in my opinion, a jewel of the kind. As such games tend to be quite complex, making one that actually works passably without abstracting things too much can be difficult, but I think they did a fine job. It had it's flaws, but...

[Question] Are YOU an Attention Whore?

Being front and center may be good for the ego, but it also makes one a target. It would be more preferable to be the one behind them. With a sharp dagger.

[Movies] Star Wars vs Lord of the Rings: FIGHT!

Yes, attacks on Dark Lords can involve unforseen complications. In fact, baser minds could speculate that Erebor was a suicide mission to keep Smaug from interfering with the White Council's assault on Dol Guldur.

[Movies] Star Wars vs Lord of the Rings: FIGHT!

The 'heroes' in both universes can be very exceptional people, true. But I don't think that means even a fairly average person couldn't experience something akin to an 'adventure'. In SW, if you are a human, join up with the imperial military and fight against the rebels, pirates, or other...

[Movies] Star Wars vs Lord of the Rings: FIGHT!

Star Wars for me. If the LoTR movies were more faithful to the concepts in the books, my choice would be different, easily. But as it stands, I'd rather keep SW than LoTR.

    Syria, isolationism, and world police?

In my opinion, the best advantage for the US in toppling the Assad regime in Syria would be the severing of the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah triangle. Syria has supported Hezbollah and Hamas, and provided a throughfare for iranian equipment reaching these groups. Also the israelis seem not to mind...
