That said, I did just load up one of Meta's LLMs into LM Studio and try to tease out any indication at all that any bits of my books were lurking in its subconscious, and failed to get anything out of it.
Whatever AI LLM Perchance uses also has no idea who killed Randall's mentor. It hallucinated Alaric and Mordred, under multiple attempts. That said, I did just load up one of Meta's LLMs into LM Studio and try to tease out any indication at all that any bits of my books were lurking in its subconscious, and failed to get anything out of it.
I'm not sure if it's comforting or disappointing that it can't find the information. Also I asked it what "Dilbert Pinkerton, from City of Smoke and Mirrors by Nick C. Piers" had for a profession, and it claimed he was a cartographer. Then I asked again, and it claimed he was a detective... in Victorian London, whose ever-present magnifying glass was his signature accessory, and a charismatic man with a flair for the dramatic. No mention at all of him being an anthropomorphic armadillo.
To be fair, being anthropomorphic armadillo is not his job, so why should it mention that? Are you that specist that it's the only important thing about him be should be mentioned every time? Also I asked it what "Dilbert Pinkerton, from City of Smoke and Mirrors by Nick C. Sorry, I probably should have said that everything after "victorian london" came up in followup queries. I had the AI give a detailed description of him. It never mentioned he was an armadillo, though it doubled down on the victorian image by saying he was never seen without his top hat.To be fair, being anthropomorphic armadillo is not his job, so why should it mention that? Depends on what you are using it for. I don't know what Ironwood is, but I can say if it's something meant for other people, I personally would be turned off by something I saw using ai generated images in place of art.I know there are a lot of artists here and you know I’ve always gone out of my way to make sure when I need art I commission. But I’ve been burned so much lately that I’m leaning towards using an AI image generator to help illustrate Ironwood. I feel dirty but I’d have complete control and it wouldn’t cost me an arm or leg.
Am I a terrible person for this?
In my opinion, this is entirely a conscience question.Am I a terrible person for this?
It's my TTRPG. I've tried three times to get an actual artist to illustrate and it was either that there was no way I could afford it (we're talking tens of thousands of dollars - at least a thousand per illustration), getting strung along & then completely ghosted, and (my favorite) finding out that the guy who wanted the job was a stalker of someone I knew and that he probably took the job just to get closer to her.Depends on what you are using it for. I just paid $75 or so to a guy on Fiverr for a custom illustration for my website. I used A.I. to generate a rough approximation of what I wanted and described a bit what else it needed. The dude knocked it out of the park. (His work was definitely not A.I. and I would recommend him heartily.) I can get the link to the dude's Fiverr page after I get home. It's my TTRPG. A good Fiverr artist? Been burned there more than anywhere. But I trust YOU.I just paid $75 or so to a guy on Fiverr for a custom illustration for my website. This was my guy, a fella in the Philippines: https://www.fiverr.com/moimoi13/cre..._link&funnel=dc2e040ddd0249928b47c6d792b2e7cbA good Fiverr artist? Been burned there more than anywhere. But I trust YOU.
This is the best use case for A.I., in my opinion. Use your words to create an image that can be used to prompt an actual artist to do what you need.I used A.I. to generate a rough approximation of what I wanted and described a bit what else it needed.
Ah shit, sorry Dave, I completely forgot about that! Though if it makes you feel any better, my preliminary sketches were garbage and not worth showingIt's my TTRPG.
