I mean, maybe a few positions on a kitchen counter or sturdy table, but yeah, definitely not a cabinet position...And now we learn that Sarah Palin is being looked at for a cabinet position. She's not qualified for a kitchen cabinet position.

yeah, I was thinking about that this morning too.Really draining the swamp, isn't he?
What an idiot.
Eh, in part I think we are seeing a rational moment vs. emotional moment. What an idiot.
This is nonsense. The fuck is this even supposed to mean?[DOUBLEPOST=1478800363,1478800081][/DOUBLEPOST]http://www.wsj.com/articles/donald-...y-team-stocked-with-wall-streeters-1478730578Trump’s victory and the UK referendum deciding to leave the EU accurately reflects the fact that the people just want a peaceful and stable life. People would rather fulfil their own lives than try to be politically correct.
Welcome to getting older.Going back to my previous point about being able to surf this wave, I think I'm really starting to re-evaluate my personal politics after this election . . .
Please don't. There are many good people who voted against trump that are going to suffer.Going back to my previous point about being able to surf this wave, I think I'm really starting to re-evaluate my personal politics after this election. So many of the things I base my vote on don't really effect me.
LGBT rights? I'm a straight white man. Doesn't effect me.
Civil rights laws? White man. Doesn't effect me. Shit in fact I may do even better with more bigotry in this country.
Anti-Muslim legislation? Not a problem. White man. Could easily pass for a bible-thumper when I need to.
Welfare? My wife and I both have graduate degrees in highly technical fields. Doesn't directly effect me.
Environment? I make enough money to never have to live in a polluted area. Not my problem.
Climate change? It probably won't actually start killing people for a century, and I'll be long dead by then. I also have enough money to move to more desirable locations if rising sea levels threaten us. And hell, seeing as I work in oil and gas I may actually make some extra money.
Freedom of choice on abortion? Again. Man. Doesn't really effect me and if my wife does accidentally get pregnant we have the resources to raise a child we didn't plan for. Not my problem.
Health insurance? I get great health insurance through work. Not my problem.
This election has made me realize how most of my voting priorities haven't actually done anything to help me. They've always been about trying to help other people.
I mean sure, if I took the long view then of course I think these things help grow our country in the best way possible and it would ultimately be in my interest. But that seems kind of hard, and in the long run we'll all be dead, so why not grab what I can while I can?
Now I'm just out for me. The coming trade wars? Im excited. The inevitable recession that will bring on should knock down a lot of property values and allow me to get some great firesales.
The reduction of environmental regulations is definitely going to be a big boon for my industry, so I should be expecting some good years ahead for me and mine.
Reduction in education spending will be a huge benefit. Less people for me to compete with and worse public schools will ultimately benefit my children since I can afford to send them to private schools. So they'll be guaranteed a much better track.
And immigration. Oh thank god for immigration reform. Do you know how many engineers out there are from foreign countries? My grad program was 90% foreigners. Without them in the way it will be so much easier to excel at work.
I've spent the last 15 years voting based on how it could help others. Time for me to look out for myself. I need the kind of politics that make things easier for me, because the only route to American exceptionalism is to lower every hurdle as much as I can. I am entitled to exceptionalism. I guess I'm a republican now.
Liar. I don't believe for a second you are going to switch on a dime like that. Empathy isn't something you have for years and simply discard.Yeah but I'm not one of them.
I get that you're being edgy, but your post before last reads like the thought process of a some of my anti-altruist/objectivist acquaintances who aren't NAP-obsessed. You sound plausible, not extreme. If A Modest Proposal had talked about enslaving more Africans as a solution to economic woes, it wouldn't have worked as satire.I don't see what everyone's problem is. So what if the weakest amongst us get hurt the worst. They could always just eat their own babies. Seems like a workaround for the whole abortion thing too.
And this is why so many people in America are scared. Because they're not you. Because they don't have all the advantages, successes, or privledges you've been fortunate to have.Going back to my previous point about being able to surf this wave, I think I'm really starting to re-evaluate my personal politics after this election. Ok now I get that you're kidding, but the earlier post really seems like it could've been serious.I don't see what everyone's problem is. So what if the weakest amongst us get hurt the worst. They could always just eat their own babies. Seems like a workaround for the whole abortion thing too.
Ahh you got it, and that's a fair point. In my mind as I wrote it I could have sworn it had just enough absurdity in it to pass as satire, but I guess it didn't.I get that you're being edgy, but your post before last reads like the thought process of a some of my anti-altruist/objectivist acquaintances who aren't NAP-obsessed. say wut?[DOUBLEPOST=1478805320,1478805159][/DOUBLEPOST]See this right here is why we need to in set more in education
what does this whole election say about humanity? What does it say about us that what I said there comes across as a plausible argument for becoming a republican?
I pretty heavily alluded to Jonathan Swift in my last post and you guys are asking if it's satire.

It wasn't written as a joke, or sarcasm, or cynicism really, it was meant as satire in its original meaning, and there is a difference, but I don't have the best writing skills.*sigh* Fine. I'm an idiot. I'm sick of sarcasm. I'm sick of people joking about this shit for laughs. I'm sick of what this world is turning into.

And it's just going to get worse. It was already getting worse before, but now people will feel emboldened and entitled to this behaviour.
This isn't a world I want to live in anymore.
Remember what we've been told all this time, voter ID laws will only keep the fraudulent voters out, like poor and minorities.
