It's ok, I'm a Panthers fan.

So far, impressed with Cam Newton. He needs some more experience, of course, but doing pretty well all things considered. Now if we can just get a run game to help him out so he doesn't have to throw for 400+ yards every week, it'd be great. Shouldn't be hard w/ DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart in the backfield, but so far it seems to be eluding us.

Defense today vs Green Bay was pretty good despite constant turnovers.

Bad day for fantasy but terrible day - even with the win - for the Cowboys.

Gah. I'll hand it to them, they really played Brady right and got him. But what the hell was with that timeout? Did Belichik take that, or did the ref penalize the Pats?

The Panthers won a game! Over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but still, it's a win. And with the hardest schedule in the league, we'll take all of the wins we can get.

Still, I must ask, Cam has great days, but the Panthers lose. Today, Cam could not get settled for most of the game and we win. What the hell?

What did him playing for the Jets and the Vikings have to do with it?

#45

Dave

Dave

What Favre really said:

I'm going to be quite honest, I was not surprised. The biggest surprise to me would be that he didn't do it sooner. Because it's funny how people forget over time, my last year in Green Bay prior to the first game, really at the start of training camp, I made the remark that this was probably the most talented team I've ever played on. And of course everyone kinda looked up and [was] like, 'You know, this guy's off his rocker.' We were very, very young, aside from me. You take me out of the mix and we were by far the youngest team in the league. But I could see the talent pool across the board was outstanding. Now, our season kind of ended up being a reflection of that. We came close, and I think we took a lot of people by surprise, but we were — you know, guys emerged rather quickly. Aaron had a chance, you know, even though the last couple years it's seemed like he's almost a rookie, he's been around for a while. And I'd like to think that, you know, he watched, he learned, and then when he got a chance to play, he brought in his, you know, his ability which obviously is very good or they wouldn't have drafted him in the first round. He's got tremendous talent, he's very bright, and he got a chance to sit and watch and he saw a successful team do it right. And so he just kind of fell into a good situation. On top of that, he's a good player. I don't think anyone would question now the talent around him is even better than when I was there. So I'm really surprised that it just kind of took him so long. And really, the early part of last year season, again it's surprising to me 'cause I'm like, you know, it just hadn't quite — it hadn't clicked yet and I didn't know if it would. Last year, I just figured when they hit their stride, they're going to be hard to beat. And that's what happened.
I don't think Favre was hammering him at all. I think it's been blown out of proportion by the media.

Oh god... I love google reader more every day. It gave me this gem I'd NEVER have seen otherwise.

GEORGIA TECH STUDENTS CANNOT HIDE FROM PAUL JOHNSON

from EDSBS by Spencer Hall

A dorm room on the Georgia Tech Campus. A knock at the door. Scott, a student, answers the door.

Paul Johnson: Son, you're gonna need to show up for the game Saturday.

Scott: Who are you?

PJ: Your football coach. That's my name. You're...[checks name list...] Arash Patel?

Scott: He's next door, and is Indian.

PJ: Well, you know what happens when you assume. You make an "ass" out of you, and leave me out of this because your being an ass ain't my problem. Sit down. Gonna tell you a story about my Daddy.

Scott: [sits]

PJ: He nailed my hand to a stump in the woods and left me there with a knife, some flint, and a fox skull on a cold February morning when I was eight. 20 degrees. Fifty miles from my house.

Scott: Oh god. What did you do?

PJ: It's a long story, but i came home four days later in a stretch Lincoln with whitewalls, $700 in my pocket, a scar on my cheek, and the prettiest whore in town on my arm.

Scott; I'm sorry, but I'm very busy, and as an architecture major you can't imagine my schedule. Also, I'm not a big football fan. I'd like to help, but--

PJ: My daddy slapped the cigarette out of my mouth that day, son. He picked it up and threw it in the backseat of that car, and as I watched it burn he said, "Now you know what life's about, son." That whore later became the first female orthodontist in North Carolina. Amazing things happen when you embrace challenge, son.

Scott: I really wish I could make it.

PJ: And I don't care. I don't care about you, Scott. The world doesn't care about you, either. I'd play football in front of empty bleachers and the bare sky, Scott. I would be fine with that. I coached in Valdosta. I KNOW what nothing looks like.

Scott: I could call security.

PJ: And I could drink this flask of kerosene in my pocket, Scott, but I ain't got a sore throat this week.

Scott: What?

PJ: Scott, I gotta pull your faces away from the Atari to get you into the damn stands because my players are weak and need other humans to watch them play football. So you're gonna be there, Scott. You're gonna be there because my players need noise and even if you have to fake it, Arash--

Scott: --Scott, sir--

PJ: --I don't care, Brad, you're gonna be there. And if you aren't, I promise you, you will wake up with your hand nailed to a stump in the woods on a cold winter's morning. Either way you'll thank me.

Scott: You're scaring me, Coach.

PJ: I don't care. I really don't. See you Saturday. That's not a farewell, that's an order.

Johnson leaves. Scott returns, shaken, to his enormous triple monitor display in the corner of the room.

Scott: Okay, where was I...well, I guess I have a little time for Minecraft.

Scott: Hmm. That's odd...I didn't build anything there...

Zooms in. Zooms in again.

Scott; Oh god.

PJ: JUST CHECKING IN TO SEE HOW THAT ARCHITECTURE PROJECT IS GOING, SON. REALLY GONNA NEED YOU ON SATURDAY. STUMPS. NAILS. MANHOOD. WHORES WHO BECOME ORTHODONTISTS.

Scott: AAAIIIGGHHHHH---

[snorts five ritalin]
[finishes architecture project in 17 hours straight]
[attends every remaining home game shirtless covered in chicken blood and gold glitter]

No, they won't. In fact, I'll go so far as to say they won't make the Super Bowl. I'd love for them to, but they've been awful lucky this season so far, and teams only get hungrier during the play offs.

One of the analysts on ESPN basically predicted that Philly's out of playoffs already. He made a compelling argument. Any team wanting to win the NFC East would probably need 11 wins. The Eagles are 3-5 with 8 games left to play, so they would probably have to win every game from here on out to have a chance. They aren't mathematically eliminated by any means, but it's hard to see them in the playoffs.

Thoughts? Would that be karma for all the preseason hype?

#88

Dave

Dave

There are 8 games left in the season. Right now they are 3-5, but 3 of the remaining games are against Division rivals. The Nov. 20 game against the Giants is one that is a must win, as is the December 24 game against the Cowboys, even though by the Cowboys game we'll probably already have a good idea of how they have to do or if it's a moot point.

In a better position are the Cowboys, who play 4 of their last 8 games against Division rivals, including 2 against the Giants. At 4-4, beating the Giants twice would even the Division for them. In addition, the Cowboys last games are against decidedly poor opponents (going by records only, of course).

In the last 8 games, the Cowboys only play 3 games against teams with a winning record - and two of those are the Giants. The other is Buffalo and it's in Dallas.

Home games:

Buffalo - 5-3
Miami - 1-7
Giants - 6-2
Philly - 3-5

Away Games

Washington - 3-5
Arizona - 2-6
Tampa Bay - 4-4
Giants - 6-2

So I see the next 8 games going about 6-2, which would put them at 10-6 for a good shot at at least a wild card.

#89

Piotyr

Piotyr

The Giants' schedule is rough in the last 8, so the NFC East winner may just finish 10-6.

I'm pretty excited about the Bears now, who after this week (at which point they'll have played the toughest schedule in the NFL), they don't play a single game against a team with a winning record except GB week 16, who will likely have clinched everything by then.

#90

Shannow

Shannow

The giants have pretty much an insane schedule for the rest of the year. Going to be rough watching them take a beating from all these teams. They will HAVE to win out their division games to hold on to the division, what with SF, N.O and Green Bay still on the schedule coming up. God, I hope I do not finish out the season wanting to kill something again.

#91

Tress

Tress

I'm fairly certain the 49ers and Giants will have the same record after this weekend. They've improved a lot this year but they're not truly one of the elite teams yet. I don't think so, anyway.

Objectively, there's about an 80% chance that Green Bay and San Francisco are going to get the byes. Green Bay because they're just better than everyone else, and San Francisco because they're 7-1 and haven't played anyone in their division yet.

Yeah, then it is going to get easy for them.

#95

Tress

Tress

I look at the 49ers remaining schedule, I see them finishing no worse than 11-5. I think 12-4 is more realistic. I see tough games against the Giants, Ravens, and Steelers, which may mean three losses right there. I figure there may be a fluke loss to one of the teams in the NFC West as well.

I think the Packers will finish something like 14-2, and that's with one fluke loss and a loss in the last week when all their starters rest.

#96

jwhouk

jwhouk

And yet, you ask practically anyone in the state of Wisconsin, and you'll get a different opinion about how our defense is going to lose us games.

I don't buy 14-2. I'm thinking we've got at least four losses because of a.) the defense just blows up and b.) Aaron Rodgers has an off game.

If Houston did not put in a claim for Kyle Orton, and it signed Jake Delhomme on Tuesday, hard to imagine Texans claiming Donovan McNabb.

That's because he went to Nebraska. He was called "fiery" and "intense on the field". So yeah, but nobody cared because they were busy sucking Husker dick.

#140

I really think Suh is a case of a player being coddled until the pros when suddenly he's no longer the best guy on the field and so he gets pissed off and reacts poorly to everything. "Ryan Leaf Syndrome," maybe?

Suh is a good player in the NFL. He has the size and the talent, and he's doing well. It's just that he's also playing dirty as hell and get into all kinds of trouble. He really has no excuse.

#142

General Specific

General Specific

I didn't mean to say that he was bad, just not the dominant force on the field. He is good at playing his position and with time and some more coaching, he could be great. However, he also seems to be lashing out over small stuff that veteran players wouldn't be bothered over. If he lets that continue, he'll go the route of Albert Haynesworth.

#143

jwhouk

He crossed the line. I agree with what Brian Billick said this morning: He plays close to the edge the entire time, and this time he went over it.

If he gets the suspension dropped or cut, I don't think anyone in the Packers' locker room are going to be happy about it.

Then lets get someone on the cheap to be 2nd string and trade for a strong defensive lineman? Someone who can help stabilize the front line and prevent yardage (and especially strong run games by other teams, which is a huge weakness in the Packer game).

They've been strong in keeping the big scores from happening for other teams, but just looking at the opponent yards gained in each game is a worrying trend that can eventually lead to losses if the Pack can't keep putting up the scores they have been.

For the most part that is true. From what I was heard the total yardage in the game (that's both teams) beat a franchise (Green Bay Packers) record. Not sure if they beat the league record.

Yeah, Sparano was fired a few weeks back. It was a bad year for NFL coaches in Florida.

ESPN claims to have a source saying San Diego will hold a press conference later in the week where they will announce Norv Turner has been fired and Jeff Fischer has been hired to replace him. I found that doubtful, at least from a procedural standpoint, but it's possible.

  4. Tebow is still likely going to be the Broncos starting QB going into training camp, barring something similar to 2005 happening with RGIII and/or Andrew Luck (not very likely, though).

Tebow's insertion into the offense made the rushing offense leagues better. The defense wasn't actually much improved (most of it was in playing terrible offensive teams), but the rushing offense went from terrible to awesome. That has to at least be partially attributed to Tebow's effect.

Saints getting hammered for the bounties...

Sean Payton suspended one year. Mickey Loomis 8 game and $500,000 fine. Saints fined $500,000 and a second round pick in 2012 and 2012.

Yeah. My whole take on the whole thing? They weren't rewarding dirty hit, merely hard hits, etc. What the Saints did was something that ALL NFL teams do. Every one of them. But the others are smart enough to not make it an economic incentive. At least not officially like the Saints did. But my answer to those teams complaining? Tell your O-Line to block.

Several Chicago Bears players and fans believe that the Bears were targets of this program during the second game of the 2011 season, a 30-13 loss to the Saints. Bears receiver Earl Bennett was knocked out of the game when Saints safety Roman Harper hit him in the midsection, an injury that kept him out for the next five games. Offensive tackle Gabe Carimi suffered a dislocated kneecap and was lost for the season. Quarterback Jay Cutler was sacked six times, and nearly lost his voice when a Saints player kicked him in the throat. Later in the game, Carimi's replacement, Frank Omiyale, yanked a Saints defender off Cutler when he saw what he later called "some dirty stuff."
Most of that does not sound legal.

I used to be an offensive tackle, then I took a Saint to the knee.

#291

Dave

Dave

The kicking was in poor form, but that's been done and is illegal already.

As to the rest? He hit a guy in the midsection?!? OH NOES! The QB was sacked?!? OH NOES! I didn't see where the play for the dislocated kneecap was dirty. It was a hard hit but a legal one.

EVERY team puts bounties on opposing players. You think no other team was looking to hit Favre and knock him out of the game? Or Manning? Or Brady? Shit, it's their damned JOB.

#292

Covar

Covar

Dave how else do you explain Jay Cutler being sacked six times in one game? HUH?!?

#293

sixpackshaker

The available rules preclude hits that injure. It is why you can't hit a blocker or down lineman in the knees if he is in contact with another player, why you can't block from behind, why you can't spear, or make helmet to helmet contact... That is how you make sure you get your bonus money. Coaches are there to insure that the player knows the legal ways to play the game. Not to pay the other players a little extra to end some one's career.

As I said to a friend on Facebook, too damn bad the NFL did not have the stones to do this to Philly 23 years ago. -that was the last time that news broke about a bounty system in the NFL.

Well, to be fair, 23 years ago they were still playing football - not this pansy-ass, can't hit the QB, can't do more than stand in front of someone not directly involved in the play in order to block them, can't use "wedge" formations in kick-off returns, move the kick-off line so that we have fewer run backs in general, can't taunt the other team, can't use props in end-zone dances, pussified bullshit.

And this is why I stick to watching NCAA football. It's like they're trying to turn NFL into two-hand touch. I've seen harder hitting games in the lingerie football league. I'm not saying you should intentionally injure an opponent, it's not like I enjoy seeing the ambulance or the cart come out on the field or anything, but football is supposed to be a physical game. I watch it because it's fun to hear the pop of the pads and see people bouncing off of each other and flying 5 or 10 yards off of an explosive hit; and if there's not a grass (or paint) stain on the QB's back at the end of the game, the defense failed. If an entire team can run to the locker room after the game, like they didn't just spend an hour locked in hand-to-hand, full body combat, they're doing it wrong.

In the 80's all you had to do was 2 hand touch the QB and it was considered a sac. There were many ways that Football then was more pussified than now. Like defensive backs could not mug receivers all the way down the field like they do now.

The Saints got nailed because they lied to the NFL about what they were doing, twice. It wasn't so much what they did, or even that what they did is unique to the NFL. It's that the NFL came to them in 2010 after these allegations, and Sean Payton actually held a staff meeting to "get all their ducks in a row" for a story to the investigators, and then roundly ignored all direct orders to stop what they were doing.

Yeah. The only excuse I've heard in favor of the Browns is "well, they aren't going to be able to sign all 13 draft picks anyway, so why not use them to be certain they got their guy." But just when you think the Browns might know what they are doing, they use their other first round pick to select a 28-year-old QB who, at best, is going to create a QB controversy.

The replacement ref's could be easy to bribe too... since they don't have to worry about coming back to work next year.

#345

Gared

Not to mention the fact that, apparently, the NFL didn't do any background checks on the refs, or vet them in any way (the Seahawks/Cards game had a ref that had previously been on the Seahawks' payroll, the ref that was pulled from the Saints game but only after ESPN told the league that he was a Saints fan, etc.). I really hope no one is seriously injured in the upcoming weeks of brutal body blows and bloody reprisals, as the refs either miss or refuse to call late hits, pass interference, face masks, targeting, etc. Especially since it's getting more and more obvious that the coaches aren't going to take steps to keep things in check, because they're just as frustrated with the shitty officiating, and the players are doling out their own justice now.

But no, Goodell is too worried about making an example of what one team "allegedly" did 3 years ago to worry about what a lot of teams are actively doing in front of the TV cameras right now.

PAY THE FUCKING REFS ALREADY GOT DAMN

#347

Gared

Gared

Supposedly none of this has to do with pay (from the NFL's point of view), but has to do with wanting to set up a referee college, where they can train refs directly instead of the current process, where you pretty much have to start as a high school ref, and then move up to the college level starting with D3/FCS and then moving up through the ranks until you can ref BCS bowl level games, and then move up to NFL; and by that time you're "really old" and can't move around as easily; and the NFL wants younger refs that are going to stay with the league for a longer period of time... but they still don't want to pay them enough that they'll be able to not have to have normal jobs on the side.

Meanwhile, the league is trying to run this initiative to have people who are thrown out of stadiums be required to pay $75 for a 4-hour online class on proper behavior before they're allowed back into a stadium; and the first (highly publicized) example of some fans who're going to have to go through that to get back into Century Link Stadium to watch the Seahawks are a group of off-duty Bellevue PD officers who got drunk and rowdy before the game, got into an altercation with an on-duty Seattle PD officer outside the stadium, were allowed to continue on to the game (because there was no crime committed when one of them littered, refused to pick up the trash and dispose of it properly, and then started a fight with the SPD officer that was heated enough that backup had to be called - littering, public drunkenness, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest) and once inside the stadium refused to stop swearing and carrying on and then threatened another fan with "you better not get pulled over in Bellevue, we're Bellevue cops," when asked to stop swearing so much because they guy was there with his kid, and had to be escorted out of the stadium by security (all the while flashing their badges and shouting "we're cops").

It's going to be an ugly, ugly year.

Yeah, it's not so much that the last call was horrible. I mean, it was a horrible call, and the non-call of the offensive pass interference in the end zone by Golden Tate was also horrible. The biggest issue to me, was that the entire game was horrible by the officiating crew. And then on Sunday you had that issue where they gave a team 4 timeouts again, and two extra challenges because of that. Even with the regular refs coming back, I'd say that enough damage has been done to various teams' win loss records that they ought to just stick a massive asterisk next to this season and pretend that it didn't happen.

On the one hand, there's a lot to be said for having run up the score on a team high enough that a bad call at the end of the game wouldn't have been an issue. On the other hand, Seattle has a good defense, and there are a lot of close games throughout the league and throughout the season. Are you trying to say that teams that play hard-fought games, who give it their all, and still have a close game deserve to lose due to really incredibly shitty officiating?

Look the NFL was doing the best it could. Granted, they rounded up high school officials, college refs who refused to distinguish the different sets of rules, a guy on the Seahawks' payroll, and at least one guy who was fired from the Lingere League for incompetence, but give Roger Goodell some credit. He could have picked anybody - literally anybody else, but he put out those guys, intent on literally flushing the integrity of the game down the crapper to force those rebellious refs in line, who dared to demand their pensions be restored.

Some men just want to watch the world burn. Roger Goodell showed up to the party with a milk jug full of whiskey in one hand, a tank of gasoline in the other, and a flamethrower strapped to his back.

But seriously, I'm glad the refs won. $20,000 to reserve a seat before you even buy the damn season tickets? Fuck the owners for cutting back like that when the NFL pulls in damn near $10 BILLION a year. That's just greed on their part, and they got burned for it.

MLB's policy has been that before the game it's the team's decision to keep the roof open/closed, and once the game is in progress, it's the decision of the umpires. I'd have to double-check that, but I think that's the deal with Miller Park.

EDIT: Wow, it's a bit complicated (This is from 2010):
MLB GUIDELINES FOR MOVEMENT OF RETRACTABLE ROOFS
Championship Season (regular season)
The decision to open or close the roof prior to the start of the game resides with the home Club. Each Club with a retractable roof shall file with the MLB Baseball Operations Department a list of the criteria it intends to use during the championship season to decide whether to begin a game with its ballpark’s roof open or closed. The home Club should inform the umpire crew chief and visiting Club if it intends to move the roof during the game.

A. Closing an Opened Roof
If the game begins with the roof open, it may be closed only in the event of impending rain or other adverse weather conditions that may affect play or spectator comfort. If the home Club believes such conditions exist, the home Club shall confer with the umpire crew chief, who shall in turn inform the visiting Club. The visiting Club may object, if it feels a competitive imbalance will arise. In that event, the umpire crew chief shall make the final decision. If there is no objection, the decision to close the roof rests solely with the home Club.

B. Opening a Closed Roof
If the game begins with the roof closed, it may be opened if, in the opinion of the home Club, the climatic environment is such that fan comfort and enjoyment will be best served by opening the roof. A closed roof may not be opened on the grounds that weather conditions may affect spectator comfort after the conclusion of the sixth inning. Prior to opening the roof, the home Club shall confer with the umpire crew chief, who shall in turn inform the visiting Club. The visiting Club may object, if it feels a competitive imbalance will arise. In that event, the umpire crew chief shall make the final decision.

C. Roof Movement
The roof may be moved only once during the game (i.e., once closed, it may not be re-opened, and once opened, may not be re-closed) unless inclement weather or other adverse weather conditions indicate otherwise. Clubs should be very cautious of opening a closed roof if the possibility of inclement weather exists.

The movement of the roof must commence at the conclusion of an inning, unless weather conditions are such that the umpire crew chief deems it necessary to close the roof immediately so that play is not interrupted. The movement of the roof shall be continuous and play will not be stopped.

Wall Panels (Milwaukee and Arizona)
The home Club shall decide whether to open or close the wall panels prior to the start of the game. Once the game begins, the panels shall be treated like the roof, in that they may not be moved without first notifying the umpire crew chief, who shall afford the visiting Club the right to object. The panels may be moved only once during the game, and may be moved only at the conclusion of an inning.

Postseason
For all games in the postseason (Division Series, League Championship Series, World Series), the Commissioner or his designee shall make all decisions regarding roof/wall panel movement, in consultation with the home Club and the umpire crew chief. The home Club shall provide to the Baseball Operations department the name of the individual responsible for the movement of the roof/wall panels. The Commissioner or his designee shall take into account the criteria that the home Club uses during the championship season, as reflected on the Club’s filing with the MLB Baseball Operations Department.

I think it makes sense to have it that way or else their moves could be based on how it would help/hurt their chances at winning rather than making the game more comfortable for fans.

On the other hand, indoor games are stupid.
I've been to a couple of August games at Texas Stadium in August... FUCK that was brutal. It was 110 in the shade, and I was not in the shade. You just could not get anyone to go to a game in Houston until October. You have to have the roof here.

It was Javon Belcher. He killed his girlfriend - reports say in front of their kid & mother - then drove to the practice field where he was confronted by the KC GM, Pioli, and the Coach, Crennel. He reportedly thanked them for giving him a chance and then shot himself in the head.

Dude had the world and couldn't see it. What a fucking tragedy.

Just sad. It took them a while to acknowledge it was Belcher, but that was because Arrowhead became a crime scene.

That good enough? I loved the demonstration of how loud it was in the stadium by NBC, and the fact that the next play (immediately following a time out to avoid a delay of game penalty) resulted in a delay of game penalty. The Clink gets damn loud.

When wondering about this game earlier I decided that it would be a good even match, and a hell of a game to watch, IF they were not playing at the Clink. But since I knew it was a home game, I figured we had this one in hand. I didn't expect it to be that much of a runaway game, but still a win for the Hawks.

Yeah, everyone's talking about how the Seahawks have proven that they can be good on the road now as well as at home, because they beat Buffalo and Chicago on the road; but without the home field advantage, I just don't see them making it far in the playoffs. Especially if we have to play you guys at your home field and it's snowing.

I think the hawks really reigned it in yesterday. Maybe in part because they knew it wasn't going to make a difference if they lost or not, so take it easy. But also because they might have been a little full of themselves after the last three. Either way, a dose of humble pie isn't necessarily a bad thing going into the playoffs. Remind them they need to not consider themselves superior to anyone, and put in a hundred percent.
Either way, I believe it's going to be a really good game and I'm really looking forward to it.

Why would anyone expect Houston to do better than the Ravens? They lost to the Pats like weeks before they faced them in the playoffs. Sure, they are division champions. AFC SOUTH division champions that is. That's like being proud of getting high scores on your GED.

And I am saying this as a Houstonian. They have gotten a lot better since their inception, and I'm happy to see them in the playoffs, but they had no real long term chance.

ed: Ok looking back on it the Texans did pretty good through the regular season. Their only losses against *good* teams were to the Patriots and the Packers, and they actually beat the Ravens earlier in the year. But aside from a handful of *good* teams they played against the majority of their games were against absolute jokes. 4 of their games were against the Jags and the Titans.

Well you see, the league really has to focus on player safety right now, what with all of the knee injuries, traumatic brain injuries, rib injuries, lacerated spleens, etc. Now, it's one thing to spike a player - that can cause minor abrasions, after all - but it's another thing entirely to wear your socks so low that you risk damaging the delicate psyches of the opposing team by exposing your hairy man-legs to them.

Ah hell, what am I saying? Roger Goodell is a hack.

I'm sure that Reed got a letter telling him not to put one of their poster pretty boys in harms way by running at him while he has the ball. That's just dangerous for the appearance of the league, and could put a revenue stream in jeopardy.
