Former President and Convicted Felon Trump Thread

I mean, it's not like he's actually ever suffered an actual consequence, why would he stop now?
And the sad part is that if any judge ever actually followed through and put him in a cell for a week, he'd be a 100% shoe-in as the enxt president of the USA. Also, the judge would need to go into witness protection.

I just love Trumpers because they are just so fucking DUMB.

Trump is suing the co-founders of truth social to take over their shares since it's tanked post-IPO. These guys stood by Trump, set up this bullshit racist-fest website for disaffected and scared old white guys, now Trump is giving them the middle finger because that's what the mother-fucker does!!!I

I love the comparison that your neighbourhood McDonalds reaches more people and makes so much more money than truth social.

And the jackass who posted the bond for fuckboi, has to try again because they couldn't even file their paperwork correctly...
Again proving that T is absolutely right that there's class justice at work and not everyone is treated equally, since he's getting preferential treatment no-one else would get.

Trump Media was saved in 2022 by a Russian-American under criminal investigation. “Through leaked documents, the Guardian has learned that ES Family Trust operated like a shell company for a Russian-American businessman named Anton Postolnikov, who co-owns Paxum Bank and has been a subject of a years-long joint federal criminal investigation by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) into the Trump Media merger.” (The Guardian)

Truth social stock is fucking taking and tanking hard! It’s almost like a company that makes no money is a bad investment deal.

The "right" people set up the right deals to profit (and I'm not savvy enough to know what options or puts or whatever they used exactly), so now the stock can be left to crater for all the faithful to get hurt.
I'm 100% sure Trump along with a couple of cronies will profit massively, and everyone else can take the fall for all they care.

Looks like Trump's check for Aileen bounced.

A federal judge denied Trump’s request to dismiss the criminal charges that he mishandled classified documents. Trump had argued that the Presidential Records Act protected him from prosecution. Judge Aileen Cannon, however, said the PRA “does not provide a pre-trial basis to dismiss” either the mishandling charges or the related obstruction charges against Trump. The decision comes two days after special counsel Jack Smith said Cannon was pursuing a legal premise about the PRA that was “wrong” and based on a “fundamentally flawed” understanding of the case that has “no basis in law or fact.” (Washington Post / NBC News / Axios / CNN / Associated Press / Politico)

A Georgia judge rejected Trump’s attempt to get his criminal election interference case dismissed on First Amendment grounds. Trump had argued that he can’t be charged because his denials, challenges, and lies about the outcome of the 2020 presidential election were protected by his right to free speech, even if they were false. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, however, ruled that “the defense has not presented, nor is the Court able to find, any authority that the speech and conduct alleged is protected political speech.” McAfee added that First Amendment protections don’t shield Trump or the other defendants because the indictment alleges that their statements were made “in furtherance of criminal activity.” (CNN / Axios / NBC News / CNBC)

The judge overseeing Trump’s criminal case in Manhattan rejected his effort to delay the trial beyond April 15. Justice Juan Merchan said Trump had “myriad opportunities” to make the argument that he was immune in the hush money case before March 7. The timing of Trump’s March 7 filing “raises real questions about the sincerity and actual purpose of the motion,” Merchan wrote in his six-page decision. Trump faces charges of falsifying business records during the 2016 presidential campaign in effort to buy the silence of a woman he had an affair with. (Washington Post / CNN / New York Times / Politico / NBC News)

The New York case is the doozy. It's criminal not civil.

So attendance by the defendant is manadatory. If it gets up to leave without the court's permission, the bailiff gets to put you down.

And it takes them off the campaign trail every day.

And remember when it was not present it got fined $5M, when it was present $88M. It is a deplorable thing.

And though cruel, given its required undergarments, it will need to take cleaning breaks, at the courts pleasure.

My favorite recently was a pro-Palestine protestor outside some conference who basically told people "Hope you enjoy another four years of Trump because that is what you are getting!" and honestly it hurt my brain.

Trump would literally let Israel turn all of Gaza to glass. You are getting on Biden's case for not doing enough but then are okay with voting in a guy that would finish the job? Are you really that dense?

Hopefully we won't find out how much worse Trump would be, but it's staggeringly difficult to do a worse job than Biden, who has basically told every Arab in America over the last 6 months that you do not matter.

The cost of puts on truth social was about 200x the cost of the average stock. So many people saw this coming.

Trump would be overly hostile towards them and openly cheering on Israel.

And probably setting up real estate deals on the Gaza strip.

Biden has done an atrocious job, no arguments there, but at least he's not openly rooting on the genocide. I can almost guarantee Trump would.

I don’t think anybody who doesn’t want to vote for Biden over his unconditional support for the Palestinian genocide will be voting for Trump. But if a few thousand people stay home in a few battleground states and Biden is going to lose.

And that Trump will allow Israel to turn up the tempo on the genocide that Biden has fully supported for the next 7 months isn’t really a strong sale.

Temp currently has a 42% approval rating, Biden 39%.
Yes, it's going to come down to a few thousand votes in a few battleground states and yes, Biden will carry the public vote, and no we can't really say anything actually important about the numbers yet...
But given this choice - which I will certainly admit isn't a choice I'm happy or excited about those numbers are terrifying.
42% of Americans not only think Trump was acceptable, they think he's a great choice to be president again and they approve of what he's done.
They're morons, fascists, or both. That's not a small minority, that's a plurality in many regions.
And, to be clear, this isn't anti-Americanism. Front National in France, AfD in Germany, AKP in Turkey, Meloni in Italy, etc are just as terrible and their numbers are often similar(some better, some worse, they're not perfect 1-on-1 comparable because of different systems), but they're not as important as what happens in the rest of the world.
We, as a whole, in the West, are dooming ourselves. But at least we created some amusing added value for shareholders in the short term, or something.

There are definetely a lot of anti-Trump voters that are hoping that something, ANYTHING happens to Joe between now and the election that would force the Dems to run someone else. The establishment Dems are in complete denial and hoping that Trump will be made ineligible but that would just make things worse for Biden in lots of regards, especially the close we get to Nov. 5th.

Biden recently had a fundraiser that raised 25 million dollars. The RNC then came out with a newsletter saying that Trump raised 50 million at his upcoming fundraiser, smashing records.

Notice the word upcoming? If you read the newsletter they use the term "will raise" rather than "raised", aka they are making a projection and then making the headline treat it like it's a done deal.

Really giving me that "Biggest inauguration. Period." Energy.

Losers lawyers tried to subpoena Jeremy Rosenberg, the district attorney who prosecuted Cohen.

But they sent it to a different Jeremy Rosenberg. Who NYeseed. the shit out of them in his response. So much so that they complained to the court and the real Jeremy Rosenberg had to explain it to them.

Trump’s former chief financial officer was to five months in jail after admitting that he had lied under oath about helping Trump inflate his net worth to win favorable loan terms. Allen Weisselberg will serve his sentence in New York City’s Rikers Island jail complex. Weisselberg spent three months in jail at Rikers last year after pleading guilty to helping orchestrate a tax fraud scheme at Trump’s company. Could've put this in the genpol thread, but I felt it more appropriate here.

Gov. Ron DeSantis signs multiple new bills into law in the state of Florida. Some of the more interesting ones:
  • FL voters may not have their registered party affiliation changed without specifically stating so in writing.
  • If there is a hangup with a doctor's prescription for insulin preventing it being filled, a pharmacist may release an "emergency refill" BUT only up to 3 times/year.
  • Local governments are prohibited from imposing heat exposure regulations (e.g., water/rest breaks) on commercial entities except as regards their own personnel.
  • All first responders are protected by a 25-foot "no-go zone" which must be kept clear of "harassers" and pesky video recorders, under penalty of law. "Harassment" is (vaguely) defined in that law as, "[any] action directed at a first responder that 'intentionally causes substantial emotional distress in that first responder and serves no legitimate purpose.'"
  • All citizen review boards established for the purpose of investigating law enforcement must have their board membership re-established such that all board members may only be appointed by the sheriff or police chief over that area, and must include at least one retired law enforcement officer, ostensibly so that "...men and women [of law enforcement] do not need to be scrutinized again and again by a committee that has no idea what they're talking about."
Notably, these laws were NOT signed into effect during any kind of public ceremony, they were all signed after normal business hours and in private, presumably so police would not feel forced to act against their public image.
