Humans and Doomweasels living together!First they figured out how to fly, now they've discovered camouflage and gained human compatriots.
The end times are upon us. The doomweasels are nigh.
I wasn't sure about that one either. But if you want to see the full size of any picture, just click the gear in the top right hand corner and say "view full resolution" it will open that one picture in a new tab. Some pretty cool, some pretty weird, some funny, some...Eh?
Also, in some, can't see what's going on. In the Space Jam one, is there anything altered/changed?
I literally think that to myself around here at least once a week.
I've always assumed this is about the speed at which one rises, not the height or directionality.I've never used the term "meteoric rise" for exactly the reason Tyson states. Meteors always go "down," never "up." I respect you, Nye, and I understand completely what you are saying, but "meteoric rise" falls in the same bucket as "300% smaller" and "burned by dry ice." They are commonly used phrases with understood meanings that are driven entirely by context rather than the actual definition of the word(s) involved.

I agree, but then I would have picked something other than "a meteor" as a better analogue. We already have the phrase "off like a shot" or "went up like a rocket," though shots usually go laterally, and rockets (the full-size ones, at least) take some time to accelerate to full velocity. Slipping the bonds of Mother Earth has always been a challenge.I've always assumed this is about the speed at which one rises, not the height or directionality.
They both have a good point but every one knows what you mean. If one has a meteoric rise it is assumed there is an equally rapid fall entailed.I've always assumed this is about the speed at which one rises, not the height or directionality.
I remember playing DAOC back in like 2003, if you found a badger in the wild, and just followed it around saying "Badger" over and over again, eventually it would start screaming "SNAKE! SNAKE!"And now I have that song in my head.
Takes me a couple minutes to find my car keys that I put in the same place every day, but the smallest prompt? "Badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger, mushroom mushroom..."
That was 2003?I remember playing DAOC back in like 2003, if you found a badger in the wild, and just followed it around saying "Badger" over and over again, eventually it would start screaming "SNAKE! SNAKE!"
... That was actually toward the end of its life cycle. DAOC launched in 2001.That was 2003?
.....
It took me a bit. At first I thought it was holding a razor blade, not a camera.
