Nah, I keep it in the same cupboard as the other non-refrigerate things like sesame oil, cooking oil, wooster sauce, etc. Heard that cold just kills the heat anyway pretty quickly.

Cold temperatures shouldn't effect the spiciness at all.

I like to refrigerate most of my sauces, hot or not, just because I find it keeps their flavor better preserved. Most vinegar based hot sauces should be safe to be stored at room temperature but will naturally degrade over time, and keeping them cooler slows that degradation. Though some sauces I use so quickly it really doesn't matter.
 
Fair enough, it always seemed like psuedo-science anyway.

It definitely affects the colour. A bottle of Valentina kept in the fridge turns brown.

Yeah. Sriracha, for example doesn't go BAD (it's too unfriendly for bacterial growth) but, in my experience, it does go stale.

I don't know if refrigeration helps, but when I have a big bottle of it I try to reseal the bottle in a vacuum with a plastic liner inside the cap.
