That bold part right there? That's McConnell implying that an investigation might find out the Obama administration had a hand in all this. I said that I agree there should be an investigation, only to show no impropriety on the part of the White House. Cover responds with "Call me crazy but having no idea that your employees are doing this kind of thing is a impropriety in and of itself. Leadership doesn't end when things stop going well."


So, explain to me how he isn't suggesting the administration is to blame? I'm talking about the administration, and that's his response? It wasn't a leap at all.

Might be, might not, but I guess I have a lot more faith in "like-minded people" doing stupid shit than conspiracy theories, generally. It happens no doubt (look at Shawinigan and the "questionable" things that happened there for funding straight from the PM's office in Canada), however, generally I don't jump to it as a matter of course, and question those who do, and you seemed a bit fast on it, that's all.

I thought it had been getting a lot of coverage? At least, my news sites have been talking about it quite a bit. Maybe I've just been lucky.

Well bully for them. You can't trample all over the 1st Amendment when it suits you, I don't care if there was a leak. Find the leak internally. It's the fucking Justice Department for crying out loud, you would think that branch of the government would understand more than any other.

The story basically seems to be that word got out on a classified operation that had taken/was to take place, so the press discreetly came to the government for confirmation. They confirmed it and asked them to sit on it for awhile because revealing it too soon would endanger operatives and sources still in enemy territory. The press agreed and then someone broke the story anyway. Now the government is looking to hang the whistle blower out to dry because they can't touch the journalists, who destroyed the cover of a long term undercover operative very close to the heart of Al Qaeda.

This is basically what happened during the Canadian Caper (Argo). Once the embassy staff was smuggled out of Iran, the inside reporter (who'd be sitting on the story awhile) broke the story the second they were on the plane because someone else was going to scoop him. Iran found out immediately and (justifiably) complained that Canada had broken some serious laws in knowingly providing the embassy staff false passports. This likely led to harsher treatment for the hostages still being held in the embassy, especially the CIA operative who'd be undergoing torture and solitary confinement since Day 1.

DoJ is still in the wrong here though. You didn't have to save face... you didn't do anything wrong until you fucking went for the records, dipshits.

Not that I'm defending them, but have you thought about how much 10 cents per clothing article adds up to be? It's not an insignificant amount.

Not content to merely have an IRS scandal, an NSA scandal, and a problem with sexual assaults in the military; the current admin now has an issue with the State Department covering up serious allegations of sexual assault on foreign nationals hired to provide embassy security, drug abuse (to the point of setting up their own drug-ring), and members of former Sec. Clinton's security detail constantly sneaking away from their posts to hire hookers. Source: CBS.
