It was a perfect day yesterday weather-wise. I was hoping to reach triple digit miles yesterday but after the main ride, I wasn't up for the bonus distance. (I did get a metric century-and-a-half.) For the main ride, I went to the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and explored off the beaten path. At one point, I was so far off the beaten path that I had to switch Google Maps to satellite view because the map view no longer showed any trail at all.

Even though I wasn't able to get a picture because my trip counter reset (twice!) today, I was still able to get past a milestone number today -- 101 miles (162 km). I didn't start out aiming for 100 miles. I was going somewhere specific and misremembered how far away it was. I got to my destination and realized I was already at 48 miles and thought "well, I'm going to be too close not to go for it."

How much time did this take?

It ended up being a 12-hour day with probably a little more than 8-hours of that being crank-time. I rode to a botanical gardens, had lunch, spent around an hour walking around the gardens, and rode home. During the ride, I had a few stops along the way: a couple of times to get pictures of birds, a couple of rest breaks, and the inevitable pit stops (an important part of distance riding is knowing where the good bathrooms are!)

I was able to follow up the Wednesday ride with a ride on the following Sunday. To start the day, I fought a strong headwind for the first 18ish miles (29ish km), and then worked my way back. Ended up with a slightly longer day than expected. I also ordered a book, bought a nifty T-shirt, looked for a couple of Lego sets (to no avail), and took pictures of a few birds.

My wife and I are spending the week at the family farm. Books, board games, food and spotty Internet. It's a great vacation.

This means I of course don't get to go to jiu jitsu this week, so I was planning on going five times last week (Monday through to Thursday, and then Saturday).

Didn't QUITE manage it, as we had friends over on Saturday, but still, I managed to go tie people into knots for four sessions last week. It was a great week.

It wasn't a particularly long day, just one that happened to have a big roll-over on the odometer. (And, truth be told, the number is kind of arbitrary since it marks miles since I last changed the battery in my cyclocomputer.)

I was able to get another weekday ride in. (It does mean that I'm working tomorrow, but the wind is supposed to be crazy tomorrow.)

100.8 km (and, yes, I did indeed bike around the neighborhood to get the last 2 km.)
