Minor victory thread

I played a team game with a Space Marine player against Black Templars and Grey Wolves for 40K. It looked ugly the first turn when my team mate lost 1/4 of his troops and I didn't get my preferred wave. Turn 4 they conceded.

We killed all of their troop choices and were uncontested for 2 of the 5 objectives, making their winning impossible and our winning assured.

Got a job interview coming up. Elementary school position, six-month substitution...

... in my old hometown, which is always a good thing (I know the place and the employers look for that) :) ...

... which also means I can easily commute from my current home :D ...
... and, if the scuttlebutt is correct, there's only a handful of qualified applicants :whoo:

In sum, I feel quite optimistic about my chances of landing this gig.

Today was the first time I've used a urinal in a unisex restroom.

Felt kinda strange having strange women pass by when the python was out and about.

Haha I love my friend Robin. She lives in the dorm I do and I called her because I wanted some sugar to exfoliate my lips. I asked her if she had any. Later she showed up at my room with some sugar she said, I didn't have any so I checked the kitchen. There wasn't any in there so I started knocking on doors. Your neighbor had some"

I laughed and said, "You didn't have to do that"

She said, " well you wanted sugar"

Maybe it is time to ask for a pony haha.

Tapeworms. He's gotta be using tapeworms ;)

Naw, seriously though, congrats on the weight loss, SJ. If you got any pointers, send 'em my way ;)

Well, I'm doing a protein shake diet... a particularly expensive one (my parents actually offered to pay it for me when I didn't even know what it was!), but I'm told that most protein shake diets have awesome results. I've been keeping it very strict though (you can see my "protein birthday cake" in october's pictures), and the last "suave" picture is actually from the first and only time I've completely ignored it. "The Jelly Delight" is actually drunk me!

So I'm running an event tomorrow called "Grow a mustache for Movember". Putting up a booth in the local mall, cut up a bunch of fake mustaches and for every picture of someone with a mustache we take, my company will donate $1 to the Canadian Cancer Society for men's cancer health (Prostate, testicular, colorectal).

Where's the victory? I dunno, but maybe we can help out one person tomorrow and help them catch a potentially deadly disease early enough to save a life?

It's pretty awesome.

You haven't seen my moustache yet.. Not awesome at all :)

There was a missprint or something on my paycheck. Instead of putting my address as Essex drive they put it was Assex drive. Someone out there had to type ass sex as my street name into their database.

I just sold my old Magic collection for about $500, which is exactly what I thought it was worth (after doing some research). Now I can breathe easy while Xmas shopping. Hooray!

I remember when I sold my Magic collection for around that. I had 36 Duel Lands, which were worth around that on their own.

Two victories:

1. After Amazon's one-day shipping messed up my order, we had to go searching for Gamma World in realspace, and ended up finding a gaming/hobby place we'd never known of that is much closer to where we live than Games Workshop, and does CCG, RPGs, anime, manga, tabletop... everything a geek could want. Very cool discovery, and they had Gamma World.

2. Later came playing Gamma World with DreamGoddess and my twin 8-year-old cousins. They grasped how to play pretty quickly after I'd simplified the stats and numbers, and hopped happily aboard imagining themselves as a Timeline-shifting Android in a suit of dead rabbits with a bunny-shooting bazooka, and a toxic rock-man wearing tentacles who reaches into a dimension of pure octopi to throw them at people or whack them on the head. As we went into a second session the next day, I was able to introduce a couple more of the rules (changing their stats some) although I toned down my penchant for darkness in scenarios, opting for a traditional monster hunt and then a protection and rescue. These two sessions were my first time playing this kind of game in real life as opposed to over the internet and it presented its own interesting set of challenges and rewards.

But the awesomeness is that we all had fun and my cousins are already asking to play again soon. Fresh recruits!

Sorry I haven't been around much. Been desperately trying to find government cash for a Kinect. I have this crazy idea to combine the Kinect with the openkinect software to produce a timelapse depth/color image of land change during rainfall. Oh, and a waterproof box.

I have really enjoyed what I've played of Gamma World so far. The rest of my group seems reluctant to play it with any sort of regularity though.

I just found out that WB is finally releasing SWAT Kats on DVD! Now I just need to save up some cash to buy it but still SWAT KATS!

Clean shaven again. I took part in No Shave November, and grew a beard for thirty days. I actually liked it more than I thought I would.

But I'm back to clean shaven, and I have to say I prefer this.

I think it makes otherwise good looking guys look like slobs. I call November the month of slobs.

Looks like a long-term substitution job is going to be a pretty sure thing this January. Not gonna count on it for sure, but it's looking good.

Oh man. I didn't read for my Indian Law class. My prof was going over a case and I responded with my thoughts on it. This is where luck was on my side. It turns out that what I said was exactly what the supreme court justice who dissented said. But the authors of the book had chosen not to include it.

So I ended up looking like someone who thinks like a supreme court justice and NOT a dumbass who didn't read the book.

Whew. Not really a minor victory more of a getting by by the skin of my teeth kind of thing. I'm still counting it.

I always wanted to try that really trim goatee that Depp has in Ninth Gate.

Yes I realize the irony considering my lambasting of the overgrowth of goats in this country. A) That's why I haven't done it yet and B) "You know what difference between you and me is? I make this thing look good."
