New Picture Thread

This week has been Fun Week at Li'l Z's school. It's basically like the old Color Wars, where the entire school is divided up into 4 teams, and they have physical and academic challenges each day to earn points for their color team. They also have daily "dress up challenges" (Crazy Hair Day, Team Jersey Day, etc.) that they can earn additional points for. Today's theme was "Brains Over Brawn: Dress up as a famous author, literary character, or scientist". Well, we came up with one distinctive author who could be identified visually, but also a costume that wouldn't leave him sweating. I'm also pretty sure none of the other kids are going to have the same idea!

I also told him, if any adults ask, "Mom doesn't let me read his books!". I don't need more phone calls.

I'm pretty sure my mom shared her copies of his books with me when I was his age. That may explain some things :D

Has he aged like 5 years in the last year? I thought he was like 4.

James Patterson?

I adored Ireland. What is your itinerary?
Well, I'm closing on the house in July. Some time in August, I'm gonna rent a cabin in/near Galway and get plane tickets.
And then I'm just going to randomly fuck around and find things to do and immerse myself in the culture. I am not big on the whole "tour" thing where you spend a good part of the day on a bus with other tourists to only spend a short time at a touristy destination like the Blarney Stone, and then get back on a bus.

That's basically the same thing I did (in Doolin) last time I went and loved every minute.

Galway is gorgeous. The freeway between Galway and Dublin is only a few hours drive. Blarney Stone is....ok, more stand in line tourist thing. Ring of Kerry is gorgeous and had fantastic fish and chips at a place in the middle of nowhere. Cork had the best sushi I've ever had.

Look forward to hearing about your trip. I would 100% go back, the people are lovely.

It's been a while since I posted a picture of my workspace (at work) at least... and since I now have a de facto new desk there (taking over the desk of the guy who quit).... here it is.

I was wondering why I posted that in this thread when I was pretty sure there was a dedicated thread for it, but turns out the dedicated thread got locked in 2013 for inactivity. That sure doesn't FEEL like 9 years ago. WELP

Anyway, pretty much done moving into my new office setup. Looks very similar to the old one, but is upstairs in a different room.

Been working in the ACTUAL office a lot more lately, have had interns shadowing me. Hard to accomplish that, working from home. Hopefully one or two of those interns go on to become actual coworkers, because boy oh boy is my department understaffed.
