really phoning in that art these days isn't he.
He used to first post it in this form, then over the course of weeks it'd get reuploaded prettier as he added depth and shading.

Personally, it used to irritate me. The "first run" art was always good enough for me, even back when it looked like this:

I cared more about the story than the artwork. And if it means we'll see more than one update a month (or as has been the case recently, A YEAR) I'm ok with the art being 1st pass.

Yeah, but we aren't seeing more than 1 strip a month. Most of my favorite comics have pretty mediocre art. But I also follow comics that have VERY long update cycles, and I generally expect the art in those to be stellar (The property of hate or Dead Winter). The only other comic that I read regularly that updates this slowly and has bad art is OOTS. I give OOTS a pass for its ridiculously good story. Goblins used to bring that, but at the pace its moving right now I just don't know. I'll keep following it and I hope he fully recovers, but I'm really not holding my breath.

Indeed.

Personally, I fail to see the issue. It takes him quite a while to get these things done sure, but he's reportedly been screwed over by his own health and trying to fix things with G:AR.

I, for one, still enjoy the story, characters, art style and everything else in Goblins. No matter how slowly Thunt updates, it's still a good comic.

Notice that the tone of most messages here is still that we're reading and just saddened it doesn't go any faster - and, up to a point, some frustration over communication issues. Compare-and-contrast to our tone in the PVP or CAD threads ;)

Ah, okay. Apologies, I misunderstood and mistook frustration regarding the situation for frustration with Thunt.

(And, er… this MAY or may not be the only topic I've ever visited on this forum. And that last sentence may or may not have been written while feeling sheepish)

Ha! No worries, man. We dig the comic but it's frustrating. I liken it to VG Cats. Great comic but you really, really have to be patient.

The sparse updates don't bother me much, but I'm bothered/concerned about G:AR. I didn't participate in the kickstarter, but via twitter I'm seeing that he has this very ambitious idea of a completely-original-game-that-will-be-super-awesome, and that can't end well if he's never designed a game. The longer time between updates that is due to this trainwreck in the making, that bothers me in a certain way.

This isn't entirely his fault, the guy he hired to make G:AR ran off with the money, so he's been trying to complete the game and satisfy the Kickstarter backers by himself, on his own time and dime. As far as I know, the version of G:AR he's designing is already a simplified version of what was originally envisioned when the original designer's company was making the game.

I know about what happened and it's totally not his fault. But for some reason I thought he wanted to do something much more complicated and ambitious than originally planned... I'll look for the post or tweet or whatever that made me think that, but for now I'm suddenly not so bothered by it

EDIT:

This one, for instance

Evertide's G:AR - You chose from a list of 11 #Goblins characters to play. My G:AR - How many can you choose from? All. Yes, all of them.
— Tarol Hunt/Stephens (@Thunt_Goblins)
And others in the same vein

And with the new page, my confusion regarding Idle's rabbit ears is completely cleared up. Would've assumed she(? For all we know, one of the curses may have altered an individual's sex. Hoping not though. Polymorph into a goblin? Hope they give a detailed list so we have an understanding) was a goblin if not for them.

And although others most likely believe the same thing, I think Bowst is actually dumber than Minmax.

Oh jeez, last page I saw was Forgath falling off the cliff... Wasn't that like a year ago? I completely forgot the comic existed after one of the hiatuses.
