I hate this argument so fucking much. Over a hundred years ago book publishers tried to claim, roughly, "we're not selling you the book, we're selling you a personal copy, and you can't resell it without our permission". People don't seem to realize that owning media was a right that consumers had to fight for. Media companies have always tried to take advantage of consumers, and consumers have to stand up and demand that the law give them protection.

If buying isn't owning, then copying isn't theft.
