The Stranger Things Season 4 finale was pretty solid. I think they overused the Kate Bush a bit too much, making less impactful than the first time.
And dear God, everything was stretched out. I'm all for long shots and taking your time, but this felt way too padded.
The post-battle stuff, especially, felt way too drawn out. The cliffhanger was a heck of a thing and I can't wait to see how it all ends, but the wrap up before that felt like Return of the King levels of drawn out endings.
Also, it's a little disappointing that the main antagonist isn't an undefinable, unfathomable Lovecraftian nightmare as we had in previous seasons. Still a great villain, clearly inspired by Freddy Kruger, but it kind of kills a lot of the mystique about the Upside Down.

I mean, it goes with his name, too. But I mean his methods and burned look. He's very Krugeresque. Early Kruger, like the first movie, where he's more menacing and not making as many jokes.

Eagle eyed viewers would have spotted his face bruise in the trailers too. So, I've been waiting for the moment someone punched him in the face and he felt it.

To me, this felt more like a motif, the same way they used "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash is Season 1 (and part of Season 2, if I'm remembering correctly?) What I did like is that brought by Journey's "Separate Ways" from the trailer, and HOW they used it.
I get that. For me, though, the scene earlier in the season was so powerful in the way it used the song. It was that character's song. And it loses some of the impact if another character is attached to it in a pivotal moment, as it was here.

Trailer top concert needs it's shout out. So good.
I get that Eddie was always going to die. You can't have a character constantly beat himself up about running away without giving him a final stand. And I get there is no way he's going back to Hawkins and getting out of his shitty Satanic Panic situation scott-free. And I get he's their fantastically written, wonderful character that they intro in a season and kill off by the end al a Super Bob and to a lesser extent Alexi.
But I'll never forgive them what they did to my boy.
Cried more for him when he passed than Max, and Max is probably my favourite of the kids, even before the fake out and again when Dustin spoke with his Uncle.
It is nice there are finally stakes to all this though, for the main group I mean, even if Max "dying" and then getting coma'd is a bit of a cop-out. Too many seasons of the main group getting away with basically only Will getting spider-sense as a side effect. Fully expecting her to sit out most of next season and then come back at the end with transferred El powers.
I did, about 80%, expect Steve to die this season, with them pushing him and Nancy again so hard the whole time and especially after his big confession. Feel like it would have been better for Nancy as well to have her wondering over, but not obsessing, what she may have missed after he passed instead of the annoying love triangle they're going to continue through next season.

Something else I wanted to mention about Will.
His speech to Mike in the van before they met up with El. So, are we all agreed he wasn't talking about El there? Where he was talking about her being different, needing Mike, etc? It's not exactly subtle.
I'm kind of surprised they're dancing around Will being gay without saying it. They have Robin being open about it (well, open to some, like Steve), but Will's struggling to say anything about it. Just lingering looks and thinly veiled doublespeak about El. Then again, this is set in the 80s, when being openly gay was still not exactly safe. Especially for teens.

That was my second guess as well.
Depending on how long Season 5 is supposed to happen after Season 4,
Max is a terrible choice. Her legs, arms, and neck are broken. Ain't no one running up that hill in Max's body! Vecna hops in there and he's not going to be able to move. "Aw, shit. I'm trying to take over the world and I pick the ONE KID who's immobile. Now I gotta eat hospital food... damn kids."

I thought having Max die would have been a pretty brave choice and I was actually disappointed when they reversed it. As to Eddie, there was no other place for the character to go other than to die. Will was criminally underused again, as was Mike. I hated the stoner pizza guy. I thought he brought nothing and completely detracted from everything. Jonathan annoyed me pretty much all season with the sole exception of his talk with Will. There was a LOT to like and a lot to actually dislike. I loved the juxtaposition of the scenes coming together with Hopper fighting with a sword. I expected Steve to slice into Vecna when he was walking at them.
I did love the negative ending where they lost. Like I said, very Empire.

I'm a little late to the party on this, as they've started airing Season 2, but holy shit I love this show. You have Steve Martin and Martin Short putting on a comedic clinic with Selena Gomez playing kind of a straight man role. I just finished the finale and I was laughing so goddamn hard.
If you haven't been watching this, then you need to start. It's on Disney+ up here in Canucklestan, but I think it's on Hulu everywhere else.

The last episode really helped this series feel a bit more... fleshed out. I kind of wish they had chosen between the djinn and Damage Control or given us more episodes.
It's very clear they want to pretend the whole "Inhumans" thing didn't happen, especially since Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan was created explicitly for them to have more Inhumans to exploit for media because of the FOX thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the next, big cosmic shift in the comics turns her straight up into a Mutant as well.
Oh I agree on all fronts, it was a series that was simultaneously too busy, and yet didn't bring enough, BUT was still good!
Either way I'm down for her being a Djinn/Mutant hybrid, as I'ma be real here, her origin in the comics was...stupid. Like, she got blasted by Terrigen mist, got cocoonified, and gains shapeshifting powers feuled by time travel...WHAT?! WHY WOULD YOU ATTACH TIME TRAVEL TO SHAPE SHIFTING-it makes no SENSE!

Seriously, Kamala Khan is one of those characters whom I absolutely adore, but feel her OG origin story either sucks hard, or is just too confusing and weird.
Not as bad as Ironheart though " I was Tony Stark's mentee that he NEVER mentioned until AFTER he was dead!"
Marvel is great at coming up with new characters...but SUCKS at giving them origins.
Bruh, that sword was not just any sword. It was the Atlantian sword from Conan the Barbarian. I nearly shit my pants when I recognized it!
Possibly yeah, looks like a twist on when she shape shifted into Carol in the comics.
What I've read suggests Kamala had a nega-band.

I haven't finished yet, and I'm going to, but if season 9 features either time travel or the Reverse Flash, I'm done with this show. I'm so sick of both of those, and this show just cannot get over them. Like, holy fucking shit, there is so much more to The Flash than time travel and Eobard Thawne.
