[Movies] The Avengers 2

I ran across an article that is on point with the recent discussion:

How Avengers: Age of Ultron Handles Destruction Better Than Man of Steel

I thought about that third-act carnage a lot while watching Avengers: Age of Ultron, which places an unusual emphasis on evacuating and saving innocent people.
With Ultron, said Whedon, the filmmaker wanted to "get back to what's important, which is that the people you're trying to protect are people.
said Whedon. "What a hero does is not just beat up the bad guy — a hero saves the people."

You know there was also quite a bit of attention paid to saving the citizens in the first avengers movie, too.

I wonder what the business decision was to have it release later in the states this time? To drum up more hype?

Not uncommon for big films to release overseas first nowadays. Except Japan, for some reason. They have to wait like 3 months.

Yeah, it's fairly standard practice to release movies first in Asia these days, because the idea is that regions such as Korea, China, Southeast Asia etc have the highest rates of piracy, so if you release it in the US first, then audiences in Asia will just download a cam version instead of going to theaters.

As said in the video above, for Korea, it's to keep everyone from just downloading it instead.
So, for the benefit of those of us at work who can't spare 10 minutes to watch the video for the answer to a question, why an entire week difference then? Surely a simultaneous release, or maybe even just a day or two ahead, would have accomplished that?

That I don't know. The video was just referring to Korea getting it early, because that's where Simon & Martina live. And ice cream cake. :)

I may have to wait for DVD or way later than everyone else on the planet.

We need soundproof toddler booths for movies. Or, maybe I should be THAT guy on opening night. :troll:

They think they're doing something to combat piracy.
If this becomes a trend, then they'll probably discover that the rate of piracy in the US will go up significantly since the US is having to wait a week for their movie, and we're back to square one. The business decision-makers are still stuck with the romantic notion that the world hasn't been shrunk to the size of a golf ball due to the Internet.

My friends who are still in Korea saw Avengers 2 the other day. They say it's great.
Heh, a friend that went yesterday said he was a bit disappointed... and when pressed he said it was just that he like GotG better... that's when i relaxed.

Movie was pretty good. A little too similar to the first Avengers. New characters are good. Ultron is played well, but not very intimidating or scary.

I was happy to see that my local Meijer megastore had Scarlet Witch and Black Widow right next to all the others in the toy display.

Now the t-shirts on the other hand...

It just seems to me you have to put CapAm2 between Avengers and Avengers 2 for it to make sense... but ah well, I guess having people sit in the theater for 7 hours might be a bit of a tall order.
